Dogs Poisoned in Iloilo town.

At least 17 dogs have been poisoned in a subdivision in Pavia, Iloilo after residents complained of being chased by the pets, authorities said Wednesday.
The Pavia Municipal Police Station on Wednesday confirmed the alleged poisoning of several dogs inside the subdivision.
Chief Insp. Fernand Limbunga, Pavia police chief, said the homeowner's association may be behind the poisoning after residents complained that they were being chased by dogs in the village.
“Roderick Panigua, a dog owner, said that he confronted the [village] guard and the guard said they did poison the dogs that night. But when the policemen came, when we interviewed them, they said that they poisoned the dogs last month,” Limbunga said.
In a statement Wednesday, the subdivision’s developer Property Company of Friends Inc. confirmed that 15 dogs have died inside the residential area and said it has begun to conduct an investigation.
"We have taken the steps necessary to investigate the matter and assure the public that we have high regard for the integrity of all forms of life in our community and, in this particular instance, will in no way condone any form of cruelty to animals," the statement read.
Aside from 15 dogs confirmed to have died in the village, two other dead dogs were found by a resident.
Village security guards refused to give a statement.
Nuts!

Pretty crazy.

But what can be expected when people let their dogs run amok? If they don't condone ANY FORM of cruelty to animals then they would make sure residents take care of their dogs.

It's a dogs life in the Philippines.

Ten dogs that were supposed to be transported to and sold in Nueva Ecija were rescued by authorities, GMA News' Emil Sumangil reported on 24 Oras on Monday.
Three people, one of them a minor, were arrested on board a tricycle during the operation by undercover police officers.
According to the report, nine dogs, which were from Bulacan, were placed in a very small cage while one dog was put inside a sack. Initially there were 11 dogs, but one reportedly died.
The suspects were supposed to sell the dogs thrice its price of P500 to illegal dog meat traders in Nueva Ecija.
Disgusting!  These dogs are probably full of worms and other parasites. Their meat would likely sicken anyone who ate it.  Just reading about it makes me sick.

Filipinos do not care about dogs.  It's a fact. A horrible, horrible fact.

And RevGov won't fix that.

  1. The subdivisions name is Savannah and I have to support Savannah on doing this. Reason. We own houses in Savannah and every year Savannah offers free rabies shot to but most dog owners do not take their dogs in. The problem is some of these dog owners let their dogs out at night starting around 6pm. So Fido the friendly at home met up with other dogs and they formed a wolf pack, the dog in the picture is a small one of said pack. The largest dogs are around the size of a German Shepard. So after these dogs were let out, they meet up and roam the subdivision and go after anyone they see outside. Savannah had flyers hand delivered to each house asking people to keep their dogs under control more than once to no avail. Yes, I say Savannah did the right thing about these dogs since the owners would not. Better to poison a dog and kill it than to have a child in the hospital or morgue from dog attack.

    2. It is certainly a hard choice to make and I understand why they would do it. It's a shame that it would have to come to that. I don't remember seeing any packs of roaming dogs when I visited Singapore.

    3. I agree it's a shame it had to come to that. The bigger shame is the irresponsible pet owners who caused this to begin with. We have an armed security guard at one of our houses. So one day I'm out front watching son play across the street and the guard is with me. Here comes a dog about the size of a German Shepard and starts trotting toward my son. I started throwing rocks at it while the guard started to bring the shotgun to bear on the dog. A brit lives the block over from one of the houses and here's how bad it is. A pinoy has a Rottie he takes for a walk on a leash but even he keeps the Rottie in when the dogs are roaming.

  6. David,
Speaking of dogs. I read your article about your dogs and the vet. How are the dogs doing?

    1. They are all doing great. Nice and healthy. It's funny how the little shih tzu's dominate and bully the larger ones. It's also problematic. Gotta keep em separated.

    2. Yes except for one who still has bad skin problems despite being treated twice. Not sure what the problem is with him though. He's a runt.
