Coronavirus Lockdown: Best in Asia, Facebook Snitches, and More!

More news about how the COVID-19 pandemic in the Philippines is being handled by the public and the government.

Halloween has been cancelled in San Juan.

https://newsinfo.inquirer.net/1333657/no-trick-or-treat-san-juan-bars-halloween-activities-shuts-cemeteries-for-undas-2020
“We signed Executive Order No. this morning. 49, Series of 2020 in which we order the temporary closure of private and public cemeteries and columbaries and the prohibition of tricks or treats and Halloween activities from Oct. 30 to Nov. 3, 2020 to prevent mass gatherings that could lead to the spread of COVID-19, ”Zamora wrote on Twitter.
Isko Moreno was the first to start this trend and more closures of cemeteries and suspension of halloween activities will surely follow. The IATF is studying a similar proposal.

https://www.pna.gov.ph/articles/1114994
The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) will soon be discussing the proposal to close all public and private cemeteries in the country during this year’s All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day, or “Undas” to avoid massive gathering amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19 pandemic.
In a virtual presser on Thursday, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said he will personally bring up the topic during the next IATF-EID meeting.
(Instead of visiting on All Saints’ Day, my recommendation will be to allot four to five days depending on the family name of the dead, on who will be allowed to visit the cemetery so we can avoid massive gathering in one day),” he said.
He, however, said it will be up to the IATF-EID to decide on his recommendation.
(A five-day color-coding scheme on visiting cemeteries because it’s also personally important for me to visit my departed loved ones),” he said.
Not sure how that would work. Alphabetical maybe?

Everyone is still scratching their heads as to why Duterte granted US marine Joseph Pemberton an absolute pardon but Roque says it might have to do with accessing a COVID-19 vaccine.

https://www.philstar.com/headlines/2020/09/10/2041479/roque-believes-pemberton-pardon-linked-dutertes-desire-get-covid-19-vaccine-access
President Rodrigo Duterte likely granted absolute pardon to US soldier Joseph Scott Pemberton to help the Philippines gain access to coronavirus vaccines being developed by American drugmakers, presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said Thursday.
Roque claimed the chief executive’s move was grounded on national interest.
(The granting of pardon to Pemberton is part of the president’s desire for the Philippines to benefit from a vaccine that America might develop.)
(Even if I lawyered for the Laude family, if that means all Filipinos will have access to the vaccine that Americans will develop, I have no problem with that.)
That sounds rather outlandish. But who knows with Duterte.

The economy in the Philippines is down so low that it has nowhere to go but up! So says the Palace.

https://www.pna.gov.ph/articles/1115030
The Philippine economy may have hit rock bottom but MalacaƱang is more optimistic about its recovery as the economy starts to reopen after months of coronavirus-linked lockdowns.
The recent Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey showed that about 40 percent of Filipinos expect the economy to worsen in the next 12 months due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.
(I understand why our citizens are pessimistic but like our economic managers say), ‘We have hit rock bottom and the only way to go is up’,” Roque said.
He said the country’s economy compressed because most businesses had to close operations following the imposition of the most stringent enhanced community quarantine across the country.
However, since most areas are now under less restrictive quarantine classifications, Roque said more businesses have been allowed to operate to a certain extent.
Many businesses which have closed will never reopen which means many jobs are gone forever. Perhaps there is still further down to go.

What's the best way to defeat COVID-19?  By using game theory!

Through the Quezon City government’s “Race to Zero” campaign, cash incentives await barangays with the highest number of identified probable and suspect coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases and lowest number of confirmed cases.
Outstanding barangay with population of above 50,000 under category “large” will receive PHP200,000 while outstanding barangays with population of 10,000 to 50,000 (medium), and with population of 10,000 below (small) will get PHP100,000 and PHP50,000, respectively.
Data collection started last Sept. 7 and will end on Sept. 14. The awarding will be held on Sept. 21, in time for Barangay Day.
Mayor Joy Belmonte said the campaign will further motivate barangays to intensify their search for probable, suspect and confirmed virus cases and to sustain the drop in the number of daily cases in the city.
Barangays with both the highest suspected number of cases and the lowest number of confirmed cases will get cash rewards. Hopefully nobody cheats.

The PNP is using the pandemic to strengthen community ties.

https://www.pna.gov.ph/articles/1115143
The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Friday launched two key projects, the Barangay Covid Defense (BaCoD) and the PNP Food Bank, aimed at improving the welfare of communities amid the health crisis.
PNP Chief, Gen. Camilo Cascolan, led the ceremonial launch of the two community-engaging projects as part of the PNP Retooled Community Support Program and the PNP Sustainable Development Program in Camp Crame, Quezon City.
“For years, the PNP has always recognized the participation of the community in fulfilling its duties at the front lines. Sa pamamagitan ng BaCoD ay mas mapapalawak nito ang kooperasyon ng ating mga kababayan sa komunidad upang labanan ang Covid-19, gayundin ang krimen at droga (BaCod will expand the cooperation between the police and the people in fighting the coronavirus disease 2019, as well as crimes and illegal drugs),” Cascolan told reporters.
Under the BaCoD program, the PNP will use the community clustering system to help the government and its agencies in implementing measures and protocols at the barangay level.
Cascolan noted that five to six barangays would be grouped into one cluster under the PNP Patrulya ng Bayan – Barangay Enforcement Teams (PnT-BET) that will perform such tasks as helping the people follow the minimum health protocols; providing security and going on patrol operations; encouraging backyard farming and promoting other livelihood programs; increasing security visibility, in coordination with barangay councils; assisting in contact-tracing efforts; and skills development.
“Aside from health welfare efforts in this time of the pandemic, the program is also shared as a common goal for everyone – to take part in efforts on poverty alleviation and economic recovery programs,” he said.
Meanwhile, the PNP Food Bank will serve as a reservoir of food donations and other basic needs from various donors and stakeholders.
The PNP is always conflating good optics with actual goodness. No amount of food banks will make corrupt cops disappear.

The whole world is looking for a cure for COVID-19. Trials in the Philippines involving coconut oil appear to be yielding positive results.

https://www.philstar.com/headlines/2020/09/12/2041790/vco-shows-high-recovery-rate-covid-19-patients
The clinical trials being conducted by the Department of Science and Technology-Food and Nutrition Research Institute (DOST-FNRI) on virgin coconut oil (VCO) as a food supplement to help in the treatment of probable COVID-19 cases in Santa Rosa, Laguna continues to show high recovery rates.
Dr. Imelda Agdeppa, DOST assistant scientist and DOST-FNRI officer-in-charge of the Nutritional Assessment and Monitoring Division who is also leading the DOST-FNRI VCO clinical trials in Santa Rosa, said they have seen practically a 100 percent recovery of the subjects in the trial.
Agdeppa said that of the s47 participants, 30 have finished the program and gone home.
She, however, declined to say that they have officially recovered.

“Of course, they are considered recovered, because they would not be sent home if they are still sick,” Agdeppa admitted.
But Agdeppa said that they can only make the conclusions once they finish the clinical trials with 56 participants.
“This is a double blind, randomized trial,” Agdeppa explained.
She said that one group was given meals applied with VCO, while another group was given meals with no VCO mixed in the food.
Sounds promising.

The IATF has launched a new Facebook page where snitches can report quarantine violations.

https://www.philstar.com/headlines/2020/09/13/2042105/task-force-creates-facebook-page-complaints-quarantine-violations
“We in the JTF COVID Shield believe that most of our netizens have already come across with total disregard of having quarantine violations in their accounts through the uploaded photos and videos of their Facebook friends. And we share disappointment and anger against those people because it is really unfair that most of our kababayan are strictly abiding by the rules while there are people who even dare to flaunt their defiance by posting them in the social media,” said Police Lt. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, task force commander.
“Through the Facebook account of the Joint Task Force COVID Shield, they will be given a platform to immediately report to us any blatant violation of quarantine rules such as engaging in drinking sessions, large parties and celebration, and even illegal gambling in public places. All they need to do is to send us the photos and videos and we will take care of the rest,” he added.
According to Eleazar, the official Facebook account of the JTF COVID Shield can be used as an additional avenue for the public to report any violations they see on social media, aside from the existing Facebook accounts of local police stations and other police units.
He called the move an "effort to empower the people not only to help the government in the enforcement of the quarantine rules but also in protecting themselves and their community from hardheaded people who defy the protocols on observation of minimum health safety standard."
This Facebook page is already working as one snitch tattled on the neighbors who were having a birthday party.

https://www.pna.gov.ph/articles/1115466
A total of 16 persons were arrested in Taguig City for violating quarantine protocols last September 12 with the help of concerned netizens, Joint Task Force Covid Shield commander Lt. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar said Tuesday.
In a statement, Eleazar said the arrest was made possible due to the timely report of a concerned netizen who provided the photos of the then ongoing violation to the Covid Shield Facebook page.
All individuals were drinking at a birthday celebration on Aguirre Street, Barangay Lower Bicutan when they were nabbed by operatives of the Taguig Police's Hagonoy Sub-Station 9.
“When police personnel went there, those who attended the birthday celebration were not wearing face masks and not observing social distancing,” Eleazar said.
All those accosted were taken to the basketball court of the barangay which serves as a holding area for quarantine violators and were released after six hours.
Despite their release, Eleazar said these individuals will be charged with the violation of Taguig City Ordinance Number 27-89 (Drinking in Public Places) and violation of Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code (Resistance and Disobedience to a Person in Authority).
He added the operation in Taguig was the first quarantine violation-related police operation since the JTF Covid Shield activated a Facebook page on September 11.

Who doesn't want to be first! It remains to see what their punishment will be. One group of curfew violators in Talisay were compelled ou too boredom to paint a mural honoring the PNP.

https://cebudailynews.inquirer.net/339588/talisay-cops-unveil-murals-made-by-curfew-violators
Police Major Gerard Ace Pelare, Talisay City Police chief, described the murals as showing the “best practices” or the programs of the Talisay Police Station, which had been effective in building a relationship between the organization and the community.
These include the “Pulis na Palengkero” program, which was launched last April. The program involved policemen, during the time of the strict quarantine status of the city, being the ones to buy groceries for the families they visited.
Another one is the “Oplan Limpyo Talisay” which is an anti-illegal drug program, which was launched last January 2020.
Pelare said that the four artists, whose names he could not recall, agreed to spend their detention time painting the mural at the different times they were arrested rather than to while away the time waiting to post bail at the detention center doing nothing.
Everyone is using their artistic talents in new ways during the COVID-19 pandemic.

With churches basically closed, 10% capacity only, the faithful are having to get creative when it comes to worship.

https://www.pna.gov.ph/articles/1115477
Churchgoers at the St. Josemaria Escriva Mission Station in this city have now an option to physically hear homilies from a priest through a “drive-in Mass.”
The drive-in Mass in Apitong village called “Park and Attend the Mass” is scheduled every Sunday at 6 p.m., according to mission station parish priest Rev. Fr. Kim Margallo.
“The drive-in mass is just an additional schedule of St. Josemaria Escriva Mission Station to accommodate those who cannot attend the mass inside the church due to immune compromise or those who are not qualified for QR (quick response) coding,” Margallo said in a statement on Tuesday.
Catholic churches in the city have already opened their doors for churchgoers who wanted to physically attend the Mass, strictly complying with minimum health protocols set by the Department of Health.
Handwashing, body temperature check, QR code scanning, wearing of face mask and physical distancing are among the requirements needed to be followed by parishioners who wanted to attend the Mass inside the church.
Imagine needing to have a QR code to go to church! Despite nonsense like that as well as having one of the most restrictive and longest quarantines in the world and despite even being declared as having the worst COVID-19 outbreak in southeast asia the Palace actually says they are the best in the Asia if not the world when it comes to testing.

https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/09/15/20/best-in-asia-palace-says-covid-19-testing-philippines-biggest-strength
The country's pandemic response deserves a "very good" grade, claimed Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque as the Philippines marked six months since it started imposing one of the strictest and longest lockdowns in the world.
"All in all, I think we deserve a very good grade, I would give it a grade of 85 percent," Roque said in his Palace press briefing.
Roque even went as far as to say that the Philippines will be among countries that would record the highest testing numbers.
"We clearly have the best testing policy in the whole of Asia and probably in the whole world because we have exceeded 3 million," he said.
"I think we will have the highest number of testing, one of the highest in the whole world. That's clearly our biggest strength," he added.
This government is always patting itself on the back.

Doctors are concerned that COVID-19 cases might skyrocket again as the DOTr has eased physical distancing rules on public transportation.

https://newsinfo.inquirer.net/1335365/doctors-warn-distancing-cut-may-lead-to-spike-in-infections
The medical community on Monday warned that the ill-timed decision of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) to gradually reduce physical distancing on public vehicles would only drive up coronavirus infections, especially as the country has yet to see a significant decline in the number of new COVID-19 cases.
The Healthcare Professionals Alliance Against COVID-19 pointed out that while it recognizes the need to further open up the economy, it is “against the relaxation of physical distancing” rules because it is still “too early” to tweak or ease the measures proven to curb the spread of the virus.
“The question is not should we reduce social distancing or not, but when can we do it. In our view, it is still too early. Cases will likely increase and our recovery will only slow down if we do this now,” said Dr. Antonio Dans, spokesperson for the coalition composed of more than 160 medical societies.
“We know that health is not just the issue. That it is also an issue that the economy must be revived and that it is an issue that people have to work. Many will get sick with this strategy. This is why we need to talk with each other so we can agree on what is the best strategy for us to beat this pandemic,” he added.
DILG Secretary says this might even cause Manila to revert to ECQ.

People are even more desperate for cash during these times as jobs have vanished due to the quarantines. This has led to an increase in online child pornography says the ALMC.

https://business.inquirer.net/307458/ph-saw-surge-in-child-pornography-linked-money-laundering-during-pandemic-amlc
“In impoverished communities, livestreaming offers a financial incentive for criminal networks, which creates a commercial element for online sexual exploitation of children,” the agency explained. “The creation of business models in relation to this activity, where offenders pay to view [child pornography] material via livestreaming, means that there is a financial dimension to this activity in the form of payments and profits.”
“The emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic has caused an increasing demand for this commercialization because of the financial incentive it provides, especially to those who are in great need of money,” AMLC said.
Increased incidences of online child pornography, increasing cases of COVID-19, increasing unemployment, rotating quarantines throughout the nation...sounds awful.  But don't worry the worst of the COVID-19 pandemic is behind us now.

https://www.philstar.com/headlines/2020/09/16/2042875/worst-covid-19-crisis-over-palace-says
Presidential spokesman Harry Roque said this during a Laging Handa briefing aired Wednesday on state-run PTV when he was asked about a Social Weather Stations survey which found that 57% of Filipinos think the worst of the pandemic-induced crisis is still to come.
"I understand the pessimism of our countrymen because the situation is really difficult now. But all I can say is the worst is over," he said in English and Filipino.
I predict this pronouncement will come back to bite him.

Why is There so Much Child Rape in Pangasinan?

Good news from Pangasinan.  Rape is down 18.27% during the quarantine!

https://www.pna.gov.ph/articles/1114881
The Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPPO) recorded 161 rape cases from March to August this year amid the stricter implementation of the community quarantine in the province.
In an interview Wednesday, PPPO Women and Children Protection Desk chief Capt. Jairilyn Camangian said cases this year were 18.27 percent lower than the 197 recorded in the same period last year.

Of the total rape cases this year, Camangian said 21 were violations of women while 140 were violations of children.
She said there might still be unreported abuses involving women and children.
Out of 161 reported cases 140 involved children and there might be even more unreported cases. That means of all the reported rape cases 86% involved children! That is horrifying. Why is there so much child rape in Pangasinan? This crime is so prevalent in Pangasinan that the PNP were happy to report child rape cases were down 29% in 2018.

https://www.pna.gov.ph/articles/1053613
The Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPO) reported 251 child rape cases in the entire province from January to October this year, 29 percent lower than the 353 cases recorded over the same period last year.
In an interview on Monday, PPO police community relations officer, Chief Insp. Norman Florentino, said rape cases accounted for almost half of the total child abuse and violation of children’s rights during the period followed by physical abuse.
Florentino said there were 584 child abuses reported in the province from January to October this year, 10 percent lower than the 649 cases recorded last year.
Between January and October 2018 there were 584 child abuses cases and 251 of those were rape cases.

Strange as it may be the same exact number of child rape cases, 251, was also reported in 2015.

https://www.philstar.com/nation/2016/01/20/1544617/pangasinan-child-rape-cases-jump-364-percent
Rape cases involving children in Pangasinan increased by 36.41 percent last year, according to records of the provincial police office.
Documents obtained by The STAR showed there were 251 cases in 2015 compared to only 184 in 2014.
Most of the victims were aged 17 while the youngest was six years old.
Most of the suspects were either the victim’s father, grandfather, uncle, text mate, playmate, cousin, boyfriend or stepfather.
Most of the suspects are relatives or people the victims knows. In 2014 it was also reported that most of the perpetrators are the children's own fathers!

https://www.philstar.com/nation/2014/10/04/1376109/pangasinan-child-rape-cases-fathers-are-usual-suspects
At least 45 of 107 rape cases involving children in this province this year were allegedly committed by their own fathers or stepfathers, according to a report of the Women’s and Children Protection Desk  (WCPD) released yesterday.
The suspects in at least four cases were grandfathers, while boyfriends were involved in 20 cases; relatives, 49; and neighbors, 17.
Nineteen victims were six years old and younger, 17 were aged 15, 13 were 16 years old, 10 were 13 and 10 cases involved 14-year-old victims.
Most of the suspects were between 36 to 45 years old and were either unemployed or self-employed.
While adults make up the majority of suspects children are also committing child rape. Last year the police noted the rise of juvenile delinquents in Panganisan.

https://www.pna.gov.ph/articles/1060750
Senior Insp. Ria Tacderan, PPPO public information officer, disclosed they have recorded 232 CICL in 2016, which rose to 260 in 2017, and 265 last year, excluding unreported cases.
Tacderan said commonly committed offenses of CICLs are petty theft and rape cases.
“Rape cases involving minors as offenders amounted to 85 in 2016, a total of 75 in 2017, and 80 in 2018, while there were 44 in 2016, a total of 33 in 2017, and 36 in 2018 who were involved in theft,” she said in an interview Friday.
The number of CICLs involved in illegal drugs numbered 16 in 2016, which dropped to 10 in 2017, but increased to 28 in 2018, she added.
Tacderan expressed alarm over the trend, especially as the delinquents are 15 years old and below.
Based on 2018 data, seven of the CICLs were aged six to nine while 20 were between 10 years and 12 years, and 171 were between 13 years and 15 years.
Why are young teenagers out raping small children?  Earlier this year a 13 year old boy was arrested for raping his neighbors aged 6 and 4.

https://philippineslifestyle.com/child-crime-13-year-old-boy-rapes-two-children/
Police arrested a 13-year-old boy after he allegedly raped two children in Pangasinan, Tuesday.
The suspect was a neighbor of the victims’ who are ages six and four years old.
According to the initial investigation, the young victims were playing when the suspect called them. The suspect first raped the six-year-old and then the four-year-old victim.
While Panganisan certainly stands out this problem is endemic throughout the Philippines. A study released in May documented this crime among others.

https://www.thejakartapost.com/seasia/2020/05/21/philippines-tops-world-for-online-child-sex-abuse-study.html
The Philippines has become the world's largest known source of online child sexual exploitation, with endemic poverty helping drive a surge in abuse, a report said Thursday.
Parents and relatives were responsible for facilitating the abuse in nearly all cases, according to the International Justice Mission aid group's seven-year study.
The report said of the victims it identified had been preyed upon for years and the youngest was less than a year old.
That study focused on online exploration of children. In such cases this exploration is done for money. But in the cases above in Pangasinan no monetary transitions are being made. It is simply rape for rape's sake if such a thing can be said.

Why is there so much child rape in Pangasinan?  I don't think anyone can answer that and that is just as horrifying and nihilistic as the crime itself.

Insurgency: Front Groups

The AFP is looking to secure peace and safety in Mindanao. Who better to partner with than the terrorist group MILF?

https://www.pna.gov.ph/articles/1114905
The Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) has agreed to convince the members of the Dawlah Islamiya, formerly known as the Maute group, to lay down their arms and to return to the fold of the law.
In a statement Wednesday, the Army's 1st Infantry Division said the agreement was reached during a meeting between Lt. Col. Franco Raphael Alano, commander of the 55th Infantry Battalion (IB), and Abdullah Macapaar alias Commander Bravo of the North-Western Mindanao Front-Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces-Moro Islamic Liberation Front (NWMF-BIAF-MILF).
Macapaar is also a member of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
The meeting of the two officials took place Tuesday at Camp Bilal Bin Rabbah Dalu Shuhadah, Barangay Tamparan in Munai, Lanao del Sur.
Lt. Col. Domingo Dulay Jr., commander of the Army's 4th Mechanized Infantry Battalion, facilitated the meeting of the two officials, according to 1ID.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the measures they can undertake to resolve the terrorism issue in the area, particularly in Madalum, Lanao del Sur, which is a priority area for the military’s counter-terrorism efforts and where both the 55IB and the NWMF-BIAF-MILF oversee.
Did I miss something? Aren't MILF terrorists supposed to be disarming? The NWMF-BIAF-MILF has their own Facebook page complete with videos of them marching on armed patrols. Here is a picture from their FB page.

https://www.facebook.com/108944137326943/photos/a.108947023993321/108947000659990/?type=3&theater
It's a good thing that these terorrists who control the BARMM have decided to convince the remaining members of the Maute group to surrender. It shows their true dedication to peace in Mindanao. They are a little late to the party but better late than never right?

Maybe the MILF will also assist the AFP in finding the 8 foreign terrorists claims are hiding out in the Philippines.

https://newsinfo.inquirer.net/1333028/afp-8-foreign-terrorists-hiding-in-ph
“We have identified eight terrorists hiding in our country and integrated into the local terrorist group factions, particularly Abu Sayyaf,” he said upon questioning by Deputy Speaker and Basilan Rep. Mujiv Hataman.
“There are 29 on our watch list and we’re still verifying that information—that’s the number of foreign terrorists we’re monitoring,” Gapay added.
Gapay said the terrorists were able to enter the country “through the backdoor,” referring to the “very porous” borders especially in the South.
29 suspected foreign terrorists in the Philippines 8 of which are confirmed. Sounds like they are all entering in through Indonesia. Remember in 2018 when DND secretary Lorenzana and the AFP called the Philippines' borders porous and said they must be secured? Nothing has changed! Why not??

A seasoned intel  and counterinsurgency expert is now in charge of the troops in Northern Luzon.

https://pia.gov.ph/news/articles/1052866
A seasoned intelligence officer of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) assumed command over Army’s 2nd Infantry Division covering CALABARZON Region and MIMARO provinces in a simple change of command ceremony here on Friday.
President Rodrigo Roa Duterte designated MGen Greg T Almerol as the new Jungle Fighter's Chief vice MGen Arnulfo Marcelo B Burgos Jr who took over as Commander of the Northern Luzon Command on September 7.
Lt. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana, Commanding General of the Philippine Army presided the formal transfer of authority, responsibility and accountability from MGen Burgos Jr to MGen Almerol.
Lt.Gen. Sobejana in his speech congratulated MGen Burgos for a "job well done in accomplishing your unit's mission in making Southern Tagalog a peaceful and livable place in this part of the country," while encouraging him "to carry on the good deeds in sweeping off the remaining NPA terrorists in the northern part of Luzon."
It can be recalled that under the sterling leadership of MGen Burgos, 2ID has pushed insurgency in Southern Tagalog on the verge of irrecoverable defeat and is just awaiting for the formal declaration of dismantling of the Guerilla Front Cesar, the second NPA front under the STRPC to be dismantled in two years following GF Honda which 202nd Infantry Brigade dismantled in 2019 when MGen Burgos was then its Brigade Commander.
In July of this year 83 mass supporters in Bulacan surrendered and the AFP indicated this signaled the dismantling of the Guerilla Front Cesar.

https://www.pna.gov.ph/articles/1109369
The communist terrorists’ mass base in Bulacan crumbled after 83 supporters withdrew their support from the communist party during a ceremony at Malolos City on Thursday.
He said the massive withdrawal of support in the area which signals the dismantling of the Guerilla Front Cesar.
It may or may not be true that the surrender of these 83 mass supporters signals the dismantling of the NPA in Bulacan. The AFP has made similar statements about the impending doom of the NPA only to have them flare up again.

The fight against the CPP-NPA is not limited to the AFP engaging in jungle battles with communists insurgents. Front groups are also a problem. One of the largest alleged front groups is Makabayan which is a coalition of 12 party-list political parties who have members elected to the House of Representatives. This week PCOO Usec. Lorraine Badoy accused Makabayan representatives of being CPP-NPA executives.

https://newsinfo.inquirer.net/1332050/badoy-insists-makabayan-reps-are-cpp-npa-execs-gaite-says-explain-pork-instead
In a post on the NTF-ELCAC Facebook page on Saturday, Badoy said that Gaite and the rest of the Makabayan bloc were actually involved in issuing directives to CPP members, sparking another word war between administration officials and left-leaning lawmakers.
Badoy named every single Makabayan member — Gaite, fellow Bayan Muna Reps. Carlos Zarate and Eufemia Cullamat, Kabataan Rep. Sarah Elago, Gabriela Rep. Arlene Brosas, and ACT Rep. France Castro.
“Makabayan Bloc representatives must therefore strip themselves of all their pretenses and take away their masks of ‘LEGISLATOR’ and tell the Filipino people who it is they truly are and what it is they truly aim for,” Badoy, herself a member of the NTF-ELCAC, said.
“That they are high ranking party members of the Communist Party of the Philippines that directly guides and gives explicit and implicit instructions to its armed component, the New People’s Army, and to its legal fronts under the umbrella of the National Democratic Front,” she added.
But Gaite said that this reaction from Badoy might have stemmed from their queries on insertions of supposed pork barrel funds in the 2021 national budget. Previously, Zarate also wrote a letter to the Commission on Audit asking whether it would be legal to transfer appropriations to an office when Congress had not appropriated any.
“Instead of explaining why these billions should go to their pockets and not to public hospitals which are currently at the frontlines of the battle against the pandemic, Badoy chooses to spew vitriol against us,” Gaite said.
“Obviously, she is trying to divert the issue with lies she was never able to defend in numerous occasions,” he noted.
The accused representatives say that Badoy is simply trying to divert the issue of the PCOO's budget by making baseless claims. However these claims are nothing new. In 2012 Makabayan was accused of being a CPP front by former rebels.

https://www.gmanetwork.com/news/news/nation/280263/ex-red-groups-tag-makabayan-party-lists-as-cpp-fronts-seek-their-disqualification/story/
After the battle among the progressive organizations represented by party-list Akbayan and youth organization Anakbayan, another rift is developing, this time between the militants and the groups of former Red rebels.
The groups—which include People’s Advocacy for Collaboration and Empowerment (PEACE), New Guardians for Freedom and Democracy, and the First Philippine Pro-Democracy Foundation Inc.—have submitted a letter to the Commission on Elections (Comelec) seeking the disqualification of the Makabayan Coalition's militant party-list groups from the elections next year.
The party-list groups are Bayan Muna, Gabriela, Anakpawis, Alliance of Concerned Teachers, Kabataan, and Katribu. According to PEACE president Agnes Lopez, the groups are fronts for the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP), its armed wing New People’s Army (NPA) and their negotiating panel the National Democratic Front (NDF).
The rebel returnee groups went on to say that the Makabayan groups with sitting representatives in Congress were channeling their P70-million pork barrel to fund the NPA.
Ocampo, one of the founders of the NDF, said the poll body in past elections has rejected disqualification cases against them for being communist fronts.
“All these groups that are seeking our disqualification on that basis are wasting the time of the Comelec. They are recycling an old charge that has been repeatedly dismissed by the Comelec… Lumang tugtugin na ‘yan,” Ocampo said.
For their part, Comelec first division commissioner Rene Sarmiento said their documents do not show that the Makabayan groups advocate violence. “If you check the records, walang ganoon. When they testified before us during the hearing, they opted for parliamentary struggle… that they are seeking changes through peaceful means,” Sarmiento said, adding that it would be difficult to prove that these groups were funding the CPP.
The commissioner added that they would not disqualify a party-list group based on ideology. “There are allegations that are being printed in the papers… that they are fronts of this and that. Will this be a factor? I don’t think ideology will be a factor in our resolution,” Sarmiento said.
The Comelec may not accept these charges and say that it is difficult to prove they are funding the CPP but others do not think so. That is why Makbayan continues to be red tagged.

One of Makbayan's party-list groups is Gabriela. Recently a woman who was a Gabriela official was killed during an AFP encounter with the NPA.

https://www.pna.gov.ph/articles/1114558
Southern Luzon Command (SolCom) chief, Lt. Gen. Antonio Parlade, Jr., Friday sought for an explanation on how a Gabriela member, whom communist terrorists and their allies have defended for allegedly being red-tagged by the government, ended up dead following an encounter with Philippine Marine Corps units in Brooke's Point, Palawan on September 3.
Parlade was referring to Ren Manalo, who is also known by aliases  "RJ," “Ka Amir, ” "Lemon," a Gabriela official in Mindoro and member of activist fisher's group Pamalakaya, who was among the five communist terrorists killed during the Thursday encounter with members of the PMC's Force Reconnaissance Group.
"In the encounter at Brooke's Point, Rona Jane "Ren" Manalo, was found dead. Ren Manalo was a member of PAMALAKAYA and infiltrated legal orgs in Mindoro such as  SAMAKASAMIN or "Samahan ng mga Kababaihan sa Mindoro" as the Provincial Coordinator; HAGGIBAT and BAYAN Mindoro," he said.
Parlade then requested Karapatan Secretary General Cristina Palabay to explain why Manalo, an activist, was doing embedded work with known communist terrorists of the  NPA’s Bienvinedo Vallever Command in Palawan.
"So, Cristina Palabay, explain why an activist like Ren alias 'Lemon'/'Pandan'  was there in a violent incident in Palawan if she is not a terrorist like alias 'Eboy' and the rest of the NPAs killed? You have been complaining of being red-tagged, so aren't you?" he added
Indeed what was a Gabriela official doing hanging out with the NPA? Another activist who was recently killed has also been linked to the NPA.

https://www.pna.gov.ph/articles/1113945
There is no truth to Karapatan Secretary General Cristina Palabay's claim that Zara Alvarez, who was gunned down by a still unknown assassin in Bacolod City on August 17, is a simple human rights activist.
Thus, said Southern Luzon Command (Solcom) chief, Lt. Gen. Antonio Parlade, Jr., in a statement sent to the Philippine News Agency Sunday.
"You claim that Zara Alvarez is an activist? She is not. She joined the NPA (New People's Army) for two years until 2015 when she was arrested. She was bailed out by Karapatan and went above ground again, probably to take care of her child from (Communist Party of the Philippines) CPP-NPA  (Fred) CaƱa, whom you (Karapatan) bailed out after he was arrested for a string of criminal cases," said Parlade, who is also an official of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict.
He said Alvarez used to be active in the Center for People's Resources and Services (CPRS), a CPP-front established to generate funding from foreign countries.
This is why Karapatan has so much money to bail out captured CPP-NPA fighters and their allies, he added.
"Just like Alexa Pacalda and Malabanan, who all claimed to be Karapatan and human rights activists, they all turned out to have already trained with and joined the NPAs (Tour of Duty), as seen from their videos," he said.
Karapatan is another group which has been accused of being a CPP front. The AFP claims there is much evidence to back up that claim.

https://www.pna.gov.ph/articles/1064765
A ranking official of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has called Karapatan's claims as lies when it alleged that the military does not have any evidence to show that the group is a front organization of the communist movement.
"We have a lot and Karapatan is worried about all these truth coming out now. AFP, not a credible institution? Then refute the very high trust rating of AFP in all surveys except CPP's (Communist Party of the Philippines)," AFP Deputy Chief-of-Staff for Civil-Military Operations, Brig. Gen. Antonio Parlade Jr., said in a press statement on Saturday.
Parlade was reacting to the allegations of Karapatan secretary general, Cristina Palabay, who said that he has consistently been "red-tagging" them and other militant groups despite alleged lack of evidence.
If there is so much proof that Makabayan and Karapatan are CPP fronts then it should be easy to shut them down. In a May 2020 report submitted to the UN about the human rights situation in the Philippines the government had this to say about Karapatan:
In its note sent to the UN Secretary-General in June 2019, the Philippines cited that Karapatan was one of the NGOs that were unlawfully operating in the country, with data from the Philippine government’s Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as of 15 April 2019 showing that its corporate existence and registration had long been ordered revoked more than ten (10) years ago, since 25 October 2005, for non-filing of reports.
The Philippine Human Rights Situationer, page 136
If Karapatan is operating unlawfully then why doesn't the government shut them down? It can't be that hard. Why would the SEC and the government allow Karapatan to operate unlawfully for 15 years? It does not make any sense.

Obviously the issue of front groups is too large to cover in-depth here. These kinds of groups are necessary for any communist or subversive revolution to prevail. In the Philippines human rights activists are regularly murdered. From farmers advocates to IP advocates rights workers are gunned down with alarming frequency. But that is no solution to shutting down front groups.

These accusations, red tagging, are not going away anytime soon. If the AFP and PNP have evidence that these groups are CPP fronts then why aren't they using that evidence to shut them down? Why are they allowed to exist? Why are alleged communists allowed to be members of the House of Representatives?

Somewhere along the line is a huge gap and it likely has to do with corrupt politicians using their clout to protect these groups. Never forget Duterte was good friends with the CPP-NPA while he was mayor of Davao and gave them millions of pesos. He even admitted that this friendship disqualified him from holding public office as it made him compromised.
He also admitted that having friends with the enemies and supporters of the state has made him a compromised government official.
Duterte said it is one of the primary reasons why he brushed aside offers by the national leadership in the past for him to run the Department of National Defense and the Department of Interior and Local Government.
“I am not qualified and besides, I am a compromised public official. Both left and right are my friends. How can I discharge properly my duty if the rebel forces are also my friends,” he pointed out.

How many more Duterte's are out there befriending and protecting the CPP-NPA?

The God Culture: Revelation 12 Series, Part 2: Ding-Dong, the Man-Child's Born! Which Man-Child? The 144,000!

This is part 2 of my review of The God Culture's Revelation 12 series. Part 1 can be found here. After identifying the woman in Revelation 12 as the nation of Israel, which means Filipinos, Negroes, and Kurds, Tim goes on to identify the man-child to whom she gives birth in heaven.

Tim compares the symbolism in Revelation 2, 14, 7, and 12 and comes to the conclusion that the man child is the 144,000. His tedious exegesis is summed up in these two charts.

If you are not familiar with Revelation the 144,000 is a group composed of 12,000 members of each of the twelve tribes of Israel. The event of their sealing is recorded in chapter 7. However the tribe of Dan is missing. That is a huge problem for Timothy because he is interpreting this as being literal.

Tim recognizes Dan is not among the 144,000 and gives the reason as being that they rejected their inheritance and brought in idolatry. But so what? If these 144,000 are from the literal physical bloodline of Jacob then Dan must be included.
40:48 Only Dan is missing and that is likely because of his rebellion rejecting the land he was given as an inheritance. He didn't like it so he went and lived somewhere else and along the way he picked up and introduced false idols into northern Israel after they entered the kingdom. So anyway there are actually 13 tribes technically because Joseph's two sons are each a tribe Ephraim and Manasseh.
That is not true. There are not technically 13 tribes and no one says such a thing. Joseph was given a double portion in Israel and his sons were counted as half-tribes.
And the rest of Gilead, and all Bashan, being the kingdom of Og, gave I unto the half tribe of Manasseh; all the region of Argob, with all Bashan, which was called the land of giants.
Deuteronomy 3:13
The likely reason Dan is not included in this list is because Dan means judgement and God's people will not be judged by Him the way everyone else will. Again Tim misses all this because he absolutely rejects that the Church is Israel and Israel is the Church. Filipinos, Negroes, and Kurds as such do not matter even if they were actual lost tribes.

Cutting right to the chase Tim's doctrine is that 144,000 pregnant women, this is the woman mentioned who Tim said was also Israel, will be taken to heaven, likely on Pentecost, and give birth to 144,000 babies in the throne room of God as a first fruits offering. That means 144,000 women will have their legs spread, will scream in pain, and will excrete blood sweat and tears as they birth their children. What a disgusting picture. Can you imagine 144,000 naked or half-naked women in the throne room of God giving birth and everything that entails? How vile and abhorrent!

Again all this contradicts Tim's assertion that there is no allegory in Revelation 12. It also contradicts his previous interpretation that the woman is the nation of Israel. Now the singular woman who gives birth has two identities as the nation of Israel and as 144,000 women while the singular man-child has multiple identities as 144,000 babies.

Finally when all the travailing is over there will be the sound of 144,000 mewling infants piercing the ears of the angels and elders who surround God's throne. What a discordant cacophony will be heard in the throne room of God Himself! Tim goes on further to say these children are not sinners and will never live on earth.
60:38 They are virgins pure, have no guile in their mouth, and without fault all. Not consistent with us flawed men on earth in which Paul says Romans 3:23 all have sinned and fallen short the glory of God. Not the hundred and forty-four thousand. They have not.
This is a denial of original sin or whatever you want to call it. Sinful women give birth to sinful children. These children being humans are of necessity sinners in need of redemption through the blood of Christ. Tim denies this. In the next video he says the following:

https://youtu.be/E-RNcBdn-GM?t=460
7:40  We concluded the woman who appears in heaven is Israel. Again, not modern Israel but the true tribes of Israel. And the manchild she births in heaven is the hundred and forty-four thousand, her first fruit offering to Yahuah and Yahusha which again is what this is as she births the child there in heaven and Yahuah accepts the offering bringing them to his throne room to protect them. Look up the word redeem in Greek and you will find that it is a buying or selling that takes place in the market.
These 144,000, this man child, male child is being offered as a first fruits offering to Yahuah and Yahusha. That is a basically same thing market transaction. Just as Yahusha redeems us from our sins right? However if you really look at this when it says redeem this is actually a perfect fit to the actual definition of the word. These children do not face death but this is very similar to the sort of Abraham and Isaac if you think about it.
First of all reducing our salvation through Christ to a "market transaction" is a horrid oversimplification of salvation which includes but is not limited to forgiveness of sins, union with Christ, Christ in us, and us becoming partakers of the divine nature. It also contradicts his previous soteriological statement "the law is what redeems us." Now we are saved through a market transaction. What need to keep the law then? And on what basis can he say our salvation can be lost? Will God get a refund on his purchase? It is absurd.

Second there is nothing about redemption anywhere in Revelation 12. The word does not appear once nor does the concept. It is truly bizarre that Tim would claim there are 144,000 humans who do not need to be redeemed by the blood of Christ.
Ephesians 1:7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace
This doctrine betrays a false anthropology. Does Tim believe men are good? That a disposition to sin is not inborn but wholly learned? In previous videos he applies Genesis 6:5, which is the classic text about man's sinfulness, to the nephilim and not to men. Either way it is pure heresy on his part to espouse this doctrine that 144,000 humans do not need redemption through the blood of Christ. Tim knows nothing of the depth of sin which caused Paul to write that we are all by nature the children of wrath.

Thus far Tim has identified the woman and the man child. Next he will identify the land to which the woman is sent after she gives birth to the man child.

Spoiler alert: It's the Philippines!

Revelation 12: The Land That Protects The Woman. Solomon's Gold Series 13D

There are a lot of symbols to interpret when identifying this land so Tim splits this section into two videos. This first video mostly deals with the sun symbols while the next video deals with the moon and star symbols.

He starts the video off by taking great pains to connect Revelation 12 with Joseph's dream in Genesis 37 because it has a lot of the same imagery: sun, moon, and stars. Joseph's dream is a prophecy of his becoming ruler of Egypt and his family bowing down to him. It has nothing to do with Revelation whatsoever. Aside from the symbols Tim gives no justification why the connection is proper. But Tim makes the connection rather slyly saying that the sun is Jacob which means Israel. The Philippines is a lost tribe land and it has a lot of connections with the sun. He then shows us and explains much of the sun symbology surrounding the Philippines.

He starts off by explaining the allegedly prophetic symbolism of the Philippines flag and the words of the national anthem.

https://youtu.be/E-RNcBdn-GM?t=1737
28:56 So let's look here at the national flag of the Philippines. Notice the symbol of the Sun. Are there other countries that have such? Certainly there are many in fact but take a look at their national anthem Lupang Hinirang or chosen land, interesting. Land of the morning. Why? Well the Sun rises in the east and has been considered the Far East as far back as history goes really. The Orient is well recorded, even Japan is also known as the Land of the Rising Sun and it's it's parallel to the Philippines but it is not a Lost Tribe territory thus it does not fit this. But the Philippines is.
Now read the next line though very odd, Child of the Sun returning. Wow! The first time we saw that we thought well it must be Sun God symbology yet in lieu of these findings in Revelation 12 perhaps not.
Now Tim is interpreting the Bible through Freemasonic symbology! The flag of the Philippines was designed by Emilio Aguinaldo and is replete with masonic symbology
The Hong Kong designed flag that Aguinaldo brought with him from his exile on board the US dispatch boat McCullock, and which became the official flag of the first Philippine Republic, consisted of two horizontal stripes, blue on top and red below. It had a white equilateral triangle at the hoist that is smaller than that in our flag today. Within the triangle, at its center, a mythological sun was depicted with eyebrows, eyes, nose and mouth in black, bearing eight rays without any minor ray for each, and three five-pointed stars, one at each angle of the triangle. All these devices were in gold or yellow colour.
Among the more credible assertions relied upon to establish the tie between masonry and the flag are the following:
In October 1899, Ambrocio Flores, Grand Master of the Gran Consejo Regional and at that time a general in the army of Aguinaldo, wrote letters to the Grand Lodges in the United States appealing to them to employ their influence to help the fledgling Philippine Republic. In these letters he compared the Philippine flag to the masonic banner saying, "...this national flag resembles closely our masonic banner starting from its triangular quarter to the prominent central position of its resplendent sun surrounded in its triangular position by three 5-pointed stars. Even in its three coloured background, it is the spitting image of our Venerable Institution’s banner so that when you see it in any part of the world, waving with honor amidst the flags of other nations and acknowledged by these nations, let us hope that with this flag, and through it, our common parent, Freemasonry will likewise be so honored."
In his beautiful Grand Oration pronounced in 1928, historian Teodoro M. Kalaw, Sr., uttered these words: "And the triangle appearing on the Philippine flag, the loftiest symbolism of the struggles of the Filipino people, was put there, according to President Aguinaldo, as an homage to Freemasonry."
https://freemasonry.bcy.ca/symbolism/philippine_flag.html
The original flag designed by Freemason Aguinaldo had a sun with a face on it inside a white triangle and the design was a tribute to the lodge which he belonged! In fact the entire independence movement was freemasonic in origin and spirit. Even the national anthem came about due to the Freemasons. From The Cabletow, the official magazine of Philippine Freemasonry:

https://grandlodge.ph/sites/default/files/cabletow/Cabletow2005-1.pdf
The untold story of our National Anthem is that the music and the lyrics came into being because of the inspiration and prompting of Freemasons.
The whole story can be read at the link. Remember in the first post where I noted that Tim rejects the age of Christ as being 33 because it is Freemasonic in origin? Well here he is basing much of his interpretation of Revelation 12 on symbols rooted in and originating from Philippine Freemasonry! Is he really this dumb? Yes, he is. Timothy Jay Schwab interpreting Bible prophecy through the lyrics of the Philippine national anthem is as irrational and insane as Charles Manson interpreting Bible prophecy through the lyrics of The Beatles' White Album!  In both cases it's Helter Skelter!

Hmm.  Interesting. Coincidence?

The woman, Israel, will fall from heaven to the Philippines. But she won't be free falling. She will be riding the on the wings of the great Philippine eagle.

25:11  We also know the dragon physically comes to earth after the war in heaven which is a physical war and he physically attacks the woman so this indeed plays out in a physical location on earth not in the universe nor anywhere else. This next one however is really no coincidence at all.
When the dragon attacks the woman she is given two wings of a great Eagle that she might fly into the wilderness into her place. What is the greatest eagle on earth? Well when you see the word great it typically means the largest. What is the world's largest Eagle? Hmm. Prophecy also identifies a ravenous bird from the east in fact who rises in the last days and even the scripture they shall mount up with wings as Eagles actually appears right in the middle of a passage about the Isles of the east. Interesting. These are not arbitrary references. The largest and heaviest eagle on earth is the great Philippine eagle with a wingspan of about seven feet also known as the monkey eating eagle.
Elsewhere he is more clear and says:
13:54 It's time to read scripture as it is and allow scripture interpret Scripture and steer away from strange doctrine which has no basis in logic nor scripture. Satan and his angels are cast to the earth and he is angry because he knows he has lost access to heaven and that his time is short because see he knows prophecy, again even if we don't. He immediately goes to attack the woman with a tsunami out of his mouth. Yes literally. He's a powerful angel in yes he can do so without it needing to be allegory. Of course he fails and the woman is saved and taken to the wilderness by the great eagle's wings the Philippine eagle that is the largest on earth.
https://youtu.be/G04VePmaTc4?t=834
This ridiculous scenario is straight out of The Hobbit!

Take note that Tim does not give any reason why the eagles' wings must mean a real eagle let alone the Philippine eagle. He simply makes that leap and expects us to follow. Is a Philippine eagle large enough and strong enough to carry a human being? And where do the 144,000 women meet these eagles?  In heaven?  In the sky as they fall? The Philippine eagle is an endangered species and there are less than 500 in existence!!

https://peregrinefund.org/explore-raptors-species/eagles/philippine-eagle

Why is it endangered?  Because despite being the national bird Filipinos hunt them down and destroy their habitat! It's not even the largest eagle on earth. The term "large" is vague to begin with. What does Tim mean by large? Wingspan? Weight? Talon size?

The Guinness Book of World Records says the world's largest eagle is the Steller's Sea Eagle. National Geographic says it's the Harpy eagle. Wikipedia says this about the Philippine eagle:
It is considered the largest of the extant eagles in the world in terms of length and wing surface, with  Steller's sea eagleand the harpy eagle being larger in terms of weight and bulk.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philippine_eagle
Even Tim's source admits that the largeness of the eagle is relative to what is being measured!
The term largest can have different meanings,” he said while pulling out and handling the specimens one by one like a delicate baby. “The Harpy Eagle maybe the largest in terms of bulk or weight, but the Philippine Eagle is the largest in terms of wingspan and height.” There you go—confirmation from no less than Dr. Kennedy!
https://haribon.org.ph/the-largest-eagle-in-the-world/
The author of this article makes the false conclusion that Dr. Kennedy has confirmed that the Philippine eagle is the largest when he has not done so. Dr. Kennedy only confirms that the Philippine eagle is the largest in terms of wingspan and height while the harpy eagle is largest by weight! Dr. Kennedy admits "largest" is a relative term and the author of this article, just like Timothy, ignores that fact.

The Haribon article was written in 2004. The National Geographic article was written in 2020. The Guinness world record was bestowed in 2001. It appears the Wikipedia article was written in 2002. The point is there is no consensus that the Philippine eagle is the largest eagle in the world. But none of that really matters because the whole scenario of 144,000 women falling from heaven and being carried by 144,000 eagles to the Philippines is patently ludicrous!

The next post will conclude this review of The God Culture's Revelation 12 series by looking at the moon and star symbols surrounding the Philippines and identifying the dragon.
