Retards in the Government 261

It's your weekly compendium of foolishness and corruption in the Philippine government.

The Sandiganbayan cleared a former Cebu province municipal accountant of malversation but convicted a former village treasurer in Baguio City in separate suits.

A decision by the Sandigan Fourth Division on May 23 said former Carmen town accountant Dinah Barriga is not guilty of malversation and illegal use of public funds.

Barriga, along with the town’s former mayor, Virginio Villamor who died in 2017, were charged in 1996 and 1997 involving PHP267,537 in public funds for the construction of spring box, deep wells, and water works systems; for PHP23,047 for the purchase of water pipes; and a third case for PHP1,305 for a spring box in a village that was not among the beneficiaries of the Central Visayas Water and Sanitation Project trust fund, a joint project between the town and the Australian government.

In clearing Barriga, the court said the “mere fact that accused Villamor is the municipal mayor and accused Barriga is the municipal accountant is certainly not sufficient to justify the conclusion that they conspired to commit the crime”.

“Indeed, suspicion no matter how strong must never swat judgment. Where there is reasonable doubt, the accused must be acquitted even though their innocence may not have been established,” the court said.

The anti-graft court, however, affirmed the decision of the Baguio City Regional Trial Court Branch 5 that found Romel Beltran, former treasurer of Barangay Camp 7, guilty of falsification of public documents and malversation.

It ruled that Beltran made false entries in the Summary of Collections and Deposits by altering the money remitted, ranging from PHP300 to PHP1,000.

The decision dated May 19 and uploaded recently upheld Beltran’s sentence of up to eight years imprisonment in four counts of falsification and malversation.

The Sandiganbayan anti-graft court convicted a Calamba City, Laguna employee in connection with a 2010 scam that involved PHP26.6 million in public funds.

The money was siphoned off following the loss of two of the town’s checkbooks containing 200 pieces of blank checks.

In a 45-page decision dated May 23, the Sandiganbayan 4th Division found administrative assistant Eva Dijamco guilty of 25 counts of malversation and sentenced her to up to 12 years in prison for each count.

Dijamco prepared the accountant’s advice forms, covering checks for the signature of city accountant Carminia Espiridion.

Espiridion died while on trial for 30 counts of estafa before the Calamba Regional Trial Court.

The court said while there was no direct evidence of Dijamco and Espiridion’s participation in forging the signatures of the city treasurer, mayor, and vice mayor, “it cannot be disputed that the checks in question passed through both accused Espiridion and Dijamco because they were able to input and confirm the check numbers and payees”.

Cleared were former city treasurer Liberty Toledo and revenue collection clerk Nathaniel Ferrer Pia.

Toledo reported on April 15, 2010 the alleged loss of two blank check booklets for the city’s general fund and special educational fund.

An audit later discovered that out of the 200 missing checks, 30 were issued with forged signatures to businesses that did not have valid contracted obligations with the city.

A city employee was convicted malversation over a scam worth 26 million pesos.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) will investigate the policeman who went viral on TikTok for allegedly “coming out” as gay.

For his TikTok video in which he exposed his gender, a police officer in Lanao del Sur is being investigated and could face penalties. The officer was named as Pat Algabid Said Marohomsalic, according to Abante’s report.

On TikTok, Marohomsalic is known as @sgt.ghamidi and has millions of followers. His account appears to have been disabled, therefore it can no longer be seen in such an app.

In one of his popular videos, the cops just said, "There are a lot of people asking me if I'm really gay." Shortly after, there was a sound effect of something breaking, and Marohomsalic was stuck, exclaiming, “Ay! Shuta ka! ” spoken with a homosexual tone.

The Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management (DIDM) has ordered the Regional Director of the Bangsamoro Police to investigate Marohomsalic as a result of the video. He also stated that if feasible, they would charge him.

The PNP has previously stated that they are not opposed to homosexual and lesbian cops. The PNP issued the statement in response to the Ang Ladlad gay rights group’s claim that numerous PNP officers are members of the LGBT community.

https://newsinfo.inquirer.net/1603655/nbi-arrests-bir-examiner-for-alleged-extortion-in-zamboanga-city

A personnel of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) was caught after allegedly extorting money from a business owner in Zamboanga City .

Lawyer Moises Tamayo, National Bureau of Investigation Western Mindanao director, told the Inquirer that the suspect, Flora Sarau Albao, a supervising examiner of the BIR’s Revenue District Office No. 15, was arrested on Friday after receiving marked money during an entrapment operation.

Tamayo added that cases of robbery with extortion, intimidation, violation of the Tax Reform Act of 1997 and Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act, and the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Government Officials and Employees had been filed against Albao.

Tamayo asked that the name of the business owner be withheld as they are still doing a follow-up investigation of the incident.

Based on the complainant’s sworn affidavit, a Notice of Discrepancy dated April 20, 2022 signed by Revenue District Officer Malic Umpar indicated tax liabilities for the period January 1 to December 31, 2020 amounting to P30,716, 845.24.

Last May 13, the business owner went to the BIR office to clarify and submitted documents to justify a lower tax assessment.

On May 17, Albao allegedly told the business owner the tax liability can just go down to just P2 million and could pay it until September this year, on condition she will pay “an upfront SOP of P1 million.”

SOP or standard operating procedure has become the euphemism for bribe.

The business owner was supposedly assured that after paying the P1 million bribe, she will get the schedule of payment of her tax liability.

The victim was also told that if she fails to comply with the demand, and if the business engages the services of a lawyer to settle the matter, the case will be sent to the regional office and she will be forced to pay the amount of P30,716, 845.24.

She was also warned about her business assets being frozen if she fails to settle the assessed tax liability.

Worried, the business owner immediately paid for half of the demanded bribe. After sometime, Albao allegedly made regular calls to follow up on the remaining P500,000 so that her case will not be forwarded to the regional office.

The business owner eventually sensed she was being taken for a ride and sought the assistance of the NBI.

An official of Isabela II Electric Cooperative (ISELCO II) died on Monday morning, following the arrest of two gunmen who shot and killed Agnes Palce, the newly hired internal auditor manager of the electric utility company in Ilagan City.

59-year-old Michael Paguirigan, a member of the board of directors of ISELCO II, died in his home in Ilagan City early Monday.

His wife, Ancieta Paguigirigan, found Michael in their living room. She later heard a gunshot and saw Michael oozing with blood.

The victim was rushed to Isabela Doctors General Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Michael is one of the suspects for the murder of Palce, a resident of Tumauini town, who was promoted at ISELCO II in March.

Palce allegedly discovered “numerous undocumented transactions and suspicious” cash withdrawals directly from the account of ISELCO II without supporting documents, according to the affidavit of her husband, Cauayan Regional Trial Court Branch 40 Judge Ariel Palce.

Palce, who was gunned down in Barangay San Felipe, Ilagan City, on May 26, relayed to her husband that the last of suspicious cash withdrawals were made by ISELCO II General Manager David Siquian, amounting to P500,000. Although in her report, half of the amount was returned.

Meanwhile, Barry Bulan and Jervy Bulan, the two gunmen who were riding in tandem, have been arrested.

However, ISELCO II’s general manager, another suspect in Palce’s death, is still at large.

A woman who was the wife of a judge uncovered corruption at the Isabela Electric cooperative and was assassinated. One of the suspects, a member of the board of directors, committed suicide while the other suspect, the general manager, remains on the run.

https://mb.com.ph/2022/06/02/guevarra-approves-relief-of-nbis-cybercrime-officials-for-probe-on-anomalous-operation/

Justice Secretary Menardo I. Guevarra said on Thursday, June 2, he has approved the relief of the head and officers of the National Bureau of Investigation-Cybercrime Division (NBI-CCD) while they are undergoing probe on an alleged anomalous operation.

NBI Officer-in-Charge Director Eric B. Distor had recommended the relief of Assistant Regional Director Victor V. Lorenzo, head of the NBI-Cybercrime Investigation and Assessment Center (CIAC), and other officers of the NBI-CCD.

“I have informed OIC Chief Distor about my approval of his recommendation for the relief of the NBI personnel concerned. The order for the relief of Cybercrime Division personnel involved in the subject operation will come from the OIC Chief of the NBI,” Guevarra said.

Guevarra said he learned that the investigation by the NBI’s Internal Affairs Division (NBI-IAD) concerns “the service of a warrant to search, seize, and examine computer data in a certain establishment in Manila last May 31 where some alleged irregularities were observed.”

“No further details could be given at this time, as the matter is being investigated by the IAD,” he said.

“We just want to make sure that similar operations in the future will be conducted in a most professional way,” he also said.

He explained that the relief of officials “is a standard operating procedure whenever any NBI official or agent is under investigation by the Internal Affairs Division in order to preserve the evidence and preclude any undue influence during the investigation.”

NBI officials of the cybercrime division have been received from duty as they undergo investigation for an allegedly anomalous operation.

https://www.philstar.com/nation/2022/05/30/2184722/coa-flags-chr-over-130-consultants

The Commission on Audit (COA) has called out the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) for hiring 130 consultants last year, with an aggregate contract cost of P24.457 million.

In its 2021 annual audit report, the COA noted that the contracts entered into by the CHR with the consultants had not undergone any market research.

State auditors pointed out that when it comes to the hiring of consultants, market research is required under Republic Act 9184 or the Government Procurement Reform Act to determine the most advantageous terms and costs of contracts.

The COA said the contracts were signed by the CHR without the approval of resident state auditors.

“None of the procurement process involving COS (contract of service) was witnessed by the resident COA, apparently disregarding the importance of transparency as the core principle of government procurement,” the report read.

The CHR admitted that the hiring of the consultants under the COS scheme did not undergo the required procurement process as the end-user offices did “all the works and later on approved by the commission en banc through the issuance of a resolution.”

The audit body said the CHR has agreed to remind its offices to follow the rules in the hiring of consultants under RA 9184.

The CHR hired consultants in an improper and illegal manner.

A school principal and an election officer, both women, survived separate ambuscades on Monday in Maguindanao, police said.

In Barangay Malangit in Pandag, Baimhon Ambalgan, a Tacurong City resident and the principal of the Campo Elementary School, was driving her Honda Fit with her daughter, who’s also a teacher, on board when they were ambushed at around 3 p.m. by gunmen on a motorbike.

The principal was injured, according to Lt. Elmar Elarcosa, Pandag police chief.

Two hours earlier, Jean Hangkal, election officer of Datu Salibo town, was driving to nearby Datu Piang town at around 12:30 p.m. when she noticed a minivan partly blocking her path.

Hangkal told reporters later that she noticed something was wrong when the van did not move. She tried to maneuver around it, but as she did so, a gunman inside the van shot her. Her aide was slightly injured.

Hangkal sped away to bring her aide to a hospital in Datu Piang, where the patient got first aid. She then proceeded to Midsayap in Cotabato province and sought help from an Army detachment.

She said she had been receiving threats before the incident and that she suspected the ambush was election-related. She did not elaborate.

Police authorities are urging a poll bet who claimed to have been the victim instead of the suspect in a shooting incident in Basay, Negros Oriental during the May 9 elections, to file a formal complaint against the incumbent mayor and his men.

Provincial police director Col. Germano Mallari said Friday Basay mayoral candidate Cliff Cordevilla has claimed through posts on social media that he and his companions were “ambushed” allegedly by men associated with Mayor Beda Cañamaque in the remote and hinterland Barangay Cabalayongan on Election Day.

Cañamaque, on the other hand, told police investigators that Cordevilla and his group fired at them while they were at the house of a supporter in that village.

One of the mayor’s supporters was injured and brought to the hospital.

Mallari said on the side of the mayor, a complaint was already filed against Cordevilla for frustrated murder.

He also urged Cordevilla to coordinate with the town police and file a complaint to counter Cañamaque’s allegation.

The shooting in Basay was the only election-related violent incident (ERVI) in the province, he said.

A candidate in the recent election is being urged to file charges against his opponent the incumbent mayor after he was allegedly ambushed by his men.

Coronavirus Lockdown: Vax Faster, Not Yet Out of Woods, and More!

More news about how the COVID-19 pandemic in the Philippines is being handled by the public and the government.

The fear mongering refuses to  be stopped.

https://newsinfo.inquirer.net/1602651/govt-adviser-notes-early-signals-of-another-covid-surge

“Early signals” of another surge in COVID-19 infections are being noted, with instances of reversals in the downward trend of cases posted in the past month, according to an adviser of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF).

“We’re seeing early signals of a surge. Over the past month, there have been three instances of reversals of the decreasing growth rates of cases,” Wong said in an online press briefing on Wednesday.

“However, even if none have been sustained, we should take these as early warning signals and take the appropriate steps,” he said.

But Wong, founder of the health research institution EpiMetrics, said the public should focus on factors that “increase or decrease the likelihood of a surge,” namely virus variants, people’s behavior, and environment.

But as the OCTA notes:

https://twitter.com/cnnphilippines/status/1529587109337567232

OCTA: The surge is not guaranteed to happen but it is becoming more and more likely

If it's more and more likely then it's a guarantee. If the numbers are going up then it's a guarantee. But what does it matter anyway since there is a "wall of immunity" and the virus is early deadly?

The next pandemic cold be right around the corner and the DOH is already looking for isolation facilities.

https://www.philstar.com/headlines/2022/05/26/2183873/philippines-designating-isolation-facilities-monkeypox-cases

The Philippines is working on the specific designation of isolation facilities for potential monkeypox cases, the Department of Health said Thursday.

In a message to reporters, the DOH said the priority of its Field Implementation and Coordination Team and the One Hospital Command Center (OHCC) is ensuring the compliance of isolation facilities with requirements.

According to the department’s guidelines, the RITM will be the main isolation facility for suspect, probable, and confirmed monkeypox cases during the activation of Doors 1 and 2 of the DOH’s four-door alert system. Door 1 refers to the implementation of travel restrictions and bans, while Door 2 refers to screening, testing and quarantine at points of entry.

Regional isolation facilities or hospitals catering to other international points of entry will be designated by the FICT and the OHCC.

All government hospitals will prepare an area for isolation and treatment facilities in the event that Doors 3 and 4 are activated. Door 3 refers to the implementation of the Prevent-Detect-Isolate-Treat-Reintegrate strategies and Door 4 refers to strengthening health and critical capacity and systems.

“Cases shall be immediately isolated in a private room, preferably with negative air pressure, until signs and symptoms have been resolved,” the DOH said.

Monkeypox has not yet been detected in the county. The agency said it is intensifying screening at the country’s borders and ensuring that surveillance systems are actively monitoring the situation.

They are not going to tel the public but the rise in monkeypox cases appears to be limited to the homosexual community which means the public at large is not at risk.

The odd messaging from government officials continues. Despite the bleak judgements about a surge the Philippines is actually surviving the pandemic

https://www.pna.gov.ph/articles/1175246

The country might have survived the prevailing impact of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic, but still “we are not yet out of the woods,” Health Undersecretary Myrna Cabotaje said Thursday.

In a vaccination event at SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City, Cabotaje, who also chairs the National Vaccination Operations Center (NVOC), reminded the public to be vigilant and get sufficient protection against the risks of Covid-19 infections.

Cabotaje emphasized that coronavirus remains “unpredictable” with the emergence of new variants and subvariants.

“That’s why we should not let our guards down,” she noted.

On the other hand, Cabotaje lauded the will of the National Capital Region (NCR) local governments in taking the lead to “vaccinate as one.”

“Kapang-kapa na nila yung pagbabakuna at yung Covid response and of course, they have ably supported by their local health workers,” she said.

Cabotaje is confident that the country will be able to surpass the health crisis, but she urged the local government units (LGUs) to further ramp up the vaccination program.

“Do it faster, ramp it up baka maunahan pa tayo ng Covid surge (the Covid surge might step ahead of us),” she said, adding public minimum health protocols must also be observed at all times.

The coronavirus has not been unpredictable. Data from the past two years consistently shows it to be a virus that is by no means deadly on its own. Coupled with comorbidites such as obesity it can be a killer. Overall death rates remain extremely low. But who cares better get vaccinated to keep ahead of the surge.

https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/05/30/22/vax-faster-iatf-adviser-sees-early-signals-of-covid-surge

The Philippines must pick up the pace of COVID-19 vaccinations amid early signals of another COVID surge, a member of the inter-agency task force technical working group said Monday.

Dr John Wong, founder of Epimetrics and a member of the IATF technical working group for data analytics, said the Philippines has seen two instances of COVID-19 case increases since May 18 but noted that the increases are not sustained but drop off after 3 days.

"If we look back longer to let's say, February, the end of the omicron wave, we had decreasing cases. The increasing number of cases in the past month is worrying because it is showing that more transmission is taking place," he said in an ANC Rundown interview.

He noted that the current COVID case numbers are underestimates since some people may be doing home antigen tests but not reporting while some who feel mild COVID symptoms may not be testing at all.

The Philippines recorded 200 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, with 82 new infections from Metro Manila. The number of active cases is 2,434.

Data from the Department of Health showed the number of deaths at 60,455, with no new death recorded Sunday. The total recoveries also reached 3,627,365.

Well, Manila is stopping 24/7 vaccination at Quirino Grandstand on June 7th so perhaps vaccination is not as much as a priority as we are being told.

Some joker fooled a lot of people into thinking that the families of those who died from being vaccinated would be given P100,000.

https://newsinfo.inquirer.net/1603139/doh-warns-public-vs-fake-messages

The Department of Health (DOH) on Thursday warned the public against believing circulating messages that claim that those who died or had severe reactions from COVID-19 vaccines would get cash prizes and a certificate for being a “hero of the pandemic.”

The fraudulent message being passed around social media said that the government would issue a certificate honoring the vaccine recipient who died or “became permanently disabled” due to COVID-19 jabs as “hero of the pandemic.”

The fake “certificate of honor” was supposed to be signed by Health Secretary Francisco Duque III.

A fake cash incentive worth P100,000 would also be given provided that the individual meets certain conditions to prove that the death was caused by the vaccine.

“The DOH denies these false promises and offers. We urge everyone to always check official DOH sources before forwarding anything. Delete chain messages,” the health agency said in a statement.

The DOH reiterated that vaccines in the government’s inventory are safe and effective and went through studies and scrutiny by experts.

That is hilarious on so many levels and I wish I had seen the original social media post. But alas all I have is this banal news report.

Fully vaccinated foreigners who have also had booster shots can now enter the Philippines without securing a negative RT-PCR test.

https://www.pna.gov.ph/articles/1175347

Foreign nationals who have received their booster shots against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) are now allowed to enter the country, a Bureau of Immigration (BI) official said Saturday.

Travelers from other countries are now allowed to enter the Philippines without presenting a negative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test result, so long as they have completed their vaccine shots, BI Spokesperson Dana Sandoval said.

“Well, it’s good news, our travel restrictions have been loosened further. So, the addition of this, the new update, for those who are fully vaccinated foreign nationals – meaning they already have the primary series – their first and second dose – they are exempted from presenting the RT-PCR prior to departure from their country of origin if they already have a booster,” Sandoval said at a Laging Handa briefing.

She noted that the new guidelines would encourage more foreigners to visit the country.

“If they have booster shots – first and second dose plus booster shot – they are exempted (to present RT-PCR). This is a big thing to really encourage these foreign nationals, our compatriots who already live abroad to come home and visit here in the Philippines,” she added.

The Bureau of Immigration says they hope this will encourage more tourists to visit the Philippines.

An Open Letter to Malcolm Conlan In Response to His Open Letter to DJ Mo Twister

British national Malcolm Conlan is a foreign gadfly on Philippine politics. This man is all over social media and the DDS crowd, now the BBM crowd, love him dearly. They share his posts mocking Robredo and extolling the virtues of Duterte. He is a white man who shares their opinions which in turns makes their opinions legitimate. If you hang around Filipino Twitter long enough you are bound to come across this man.

One of his most recent viral forays was an open letter to DJ Mo Twister who called the 31 million voters of Bongbong Marcos stupid.

https://www.philnews.xyz/2022/05/malcolm-conlan-open-letter-mo-twister-insults-31m-filipinos.html

A British national with a Filipino family and heart, Malcolm Conlan wrote and open letter addressed to controversial DJ Mo Twister who allegedly insulted the 31 million Filipinos who were voting for presumptive President Bongbong Marcos.

During the past few days, DJ Mo Twister called out the 31 million Filipino voters supporting BBM as he called out unpleasant names that went viral on social media.

Due to the latest statement released by DJ Mo, Malcolm Conlan was apparently indignant that a Filipino-American DJ would insult the 31 million Filipinos.

In response to your open letter I have decided to write my own open letter to you.

Dear Malcolm Conlan,

I don't know you or interact with you much online but I know your presence is large in the Filipino social media sphere. You have written several "open letters" which have gone viral amongst the DDS crowd of which you practically form a foreign branch all your own.

It recently came to my attention that you wrote an open letter to DJ Mo Twister for calling the 31 million people who voted for convicted felon and scion of the Marcos crime family Bongbong Marcos stupid.

Whoever you are, How DARE you insult 31 million Filipinos who took part in an entirely fair and internationally recognised and acknowledged democratic process to elect a new president in the Philippines. From what I understand you are a Fil-Am right?

Why have you got any right to insult a large proportion of the Philippine electorate?

Are you really going to bring up the issue of DJ Mo Twister being a Fil-Am? YOU! Of all people! So now he cannot comment on Philippine politics because he lives in Las Vegas?? If that is the case then please delete all your social media accounts or immediately cease and desist from writing about the Philippines. You claim to be a Filipino at heart while this man has actual Filipino blood coursing through his veins.

That you have the audacity to write such poppycock and balderdash is astounding. Have you not been in the trenches lampooning and excoriating Leni Robredo for these past six years? Have you not denied her, and thus those who voted for her, the legitimacy she earned by winning the 2016 VP election by alleging that she committed fraud and cheated?  Yes, you have.

This makes your words and tirade about respecting the choice of the electorate hypocritical and self-serving and betrays just how ignorant you are.

And of what concern is the 2022 Philippine election to you? You are half a world away in the UK very cozy eating your fish and chips and beans on toast and mushy peas enjoying a life of relative ease going to Jollibees once in awhile reminiscing about that time you went on vacation in the Philippines while too many people in this nation are suffering at the hands of the very people they elect. Did you know that thousands of people die in this nation every year from diarrhea because they lack clean water? That problem could easily be solved by the government but they decline to do a single thing. This a problem you do not have in the United Kingdom. How exactly does it concern you who wins the Philippine election? It's not like the American elections which impact the entire global order.

If you actually lived in the Philippines like many foreign nationals do then I would take less umbrage at you and your project of commenting on internal political matters which ultimately do not concern you because living here they would concern you. There are many foreigners who come to this nation and do the work the government declines to do. But you? You are just a shitposter! Yes that is the technical term if you are unaware. You offer no solutions to what is happening here but simply bandy about your opinions as if they matter more than a fart in the wind. As if voting for a certain candidate would change the status quo in the first place!

And what did Mo Twister say that got your knickers in a twist that you just had to type up an open letter?

Tell me, Malcom, and be honest. Would you vote for or advocate someone vote for a candidate who is a convicted felon who did not pay his taxes, who continues to lie about graduating from Oxford, who declined to attend any of the public debates, and who continues to deny the past crimes of his family? Or for a candidate whose running mate declared honesty does not matter?

https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/03/06/19/sara-duterte-honesty-should-not-be-an-election-issue

If honesty does not matter then it does not matter if Robredo cheated as you allege!

It does not matter if academics or anyone high IQ voted for Marcos as you say many did.

No sir, these citizens of the Republic of the Philippines are not stupid at all, I have met so many people who voted for BBM, many come from academic backgrounds, university educated with a strong sense of responsibility and sense of duty. They are Filipinos who are proud of their country and spent so much time considering who would be best to lead the country moving forward.

It's not that they didn't vote for Leni that makes their choice stupid. The fact is despite being educated these people voted for a man who should never have been allowed to run in the first place. Their vote does not change who Bongbong Marcos is or what he has done in the past. They voted for a man who represents the worst about the Philippines. That is indeed stupid.

It's incredible that you have the nerve to say those who voted for Bongbong aren't stupid because they are educated and have a strong sense of responsibility when you acknowledged that many of those who voted in the Brexit referendum cast their ballot based on lies.

How much more so in the 2022 Philippine elections where so many lies about the Marcos family have been thrown at the public for the past few decades in an effort to cover up their crimes? Lies which you yourself continue to spew forth!

Dear Malcolm Conlan for goodness sake read a book! Read about the exploits of the Marcos Crime Family. Hey maybe start with reading about that time Ferdinand Marcos sought to raise an army so he could invade the Philippines, kidnap Cory Aquino, and retake the presidency.

The Marcos Tapes: Ferdinand Marcos' Plan to Invade the Philippines

Then go read about the court cases and the ill-gotten wealth which was recovered. From paintings to condos to gold and cash stuffed away in secret Swiss accounts much has been recovered. When you say all legal cases against the Marcos family have been dismissed you are lying and are thus a liar!

The main thrust of your open letter is that we must respect freedom of choice. Ok great. Good idea. In fact you even retweeted Elon Musk who is a free speech absolutist.

Why retweet this when apparently you do not believe it at all. You do not believe that DJ Mo Twister has a right to call people stupid for voting a convicted felon into office but you do believe you have the right to call Robredo a cheater and a fraud. Those accusations come close to libel and not mere free speech. No, I don't believe you actually believe in free speech or free choice. Of course a large part of that certainly has to do with you living in a country where you can be arrested for sending a tweet someone finds offensive.

Look at mousy Malcolm getting flustered over being called stupid by a complete stranger on the internet. Oh noes better report them!

Being a British man I understand that you, like the fish who has no idea what water is, will not be able to discern how these tweets show a complete disdain for freedom of speech. Freedom of speech entails the right to say things you don't want to hear. Malcolm my dear you do not believe in freedom of speech.

But I do. I believe you have the right to say the most offensive malarky you want. You have the right to say whatever you want about Philippine politics and history. I respect your right to pen the most outrageous and egregious lies about the Philippines though I may not necessarily respect what it is you have written. I agree 100% with Voltaire even if he did not actually say this:

All the same you had better respect my right, and the rights of others including DJ Mo Twister, to confront you with the truth.

You know, Malcolm, I don't want you to shut up. I want you to keep going. I want you to continue voicing your  paralogical British opinions with every ounce of your purblind Filipino heart. But the fact is there are those who voted for BBM who continue to disrespect the choice of those who voted for Leni Robredo including yourself. Why, here you are mocking the duly elected Vice President of the Philippines two weeks after the election.

Never forget that in the midst of your calling for people to respect other people's decisions you are a massive hypocrite.

Based on this Tweet alone you can take your open letter to DJ Mo Twister about respecting the choice of the electorate and shove it.

Sincerely,

Me
