A police officer reportedly shot dead a worker following a quarrel in Calamba, Laguna at dawn yesterday.

Leovil Brian Pelletero, 19, was declared dead on arrival at the Global Medical Center due to a gunshot to the abdomen.

Cpl. Javier Ian Medel of the Cabuyao police station surrendered after the incident that occurred at around 2:25 a.m.

Investigation showed that Pelletero and his friends were having a drinking session at an establishment in Barangay Cabuyao.

Medel and his friends were at a table beside Pelletero’s group.

The victim and his friends were talking in a local dialect, which reportedly irritated Medel who confronted the group.

A quarrel ensued between Medel and Pelletero and resulted in the officer shooting the victim dead.

A PNP officer was annoyed by a man's dialect so he shot him dead.

The victim alleged that Colita and the 10 other suspects conducted a search operation for firearms inside her house in Tungkil, Minglanilla without presenting any documents.

“Upon search, no firearm was found. Instead said operatives took valuables from her including money, pieces of jewelry, a bag, and an ATM card,” said Montejo.

Additionally, she was brought to the Sawang Calero Police Station at around 1 a.m. on March 10, 2021, and ‘illegally detained’ there.

The complainant added that she was raped twice by Colita who also extorted money worth P170,000 from her.

Based on the statement of the complainant, Montejo said that right after she was ‘arrested’ she was brought to a hotel in the city. Before she was raped, she added that she was also assisted in the bank to withdraw the money Colita extorted from her.

11 PNP officers raid a woman's house, apparently without a warrant, looking for guns but finding none steal her valuables. She is then detained and taken to a hotel and raped by one of the officers but not before being forced to withdraw P170,000 from a bank. Just a few bad apples of course. Totally an isolated case.
