Hi, my name is Francis Jay Gumikib. Although I am 14 I am only in the 5th grade. My classmates were being noisy and rowdy but I was not part of their antics. That did not stop my teacher from grabbing me by the collar and slapping my face. It was humiliating and I told my mom I felt dizzy and pain in my ear. I was able to attend school for three more days until my dizziness overtook me and I fell into a coma. I was rushed to the hospital and the doctor said I my brain was bleeding. Eleven days later I died. 

However, it turns out I died not as a result of being slapped but from a rare condition that would have killed me anyway.

A Grade 5 student in Antipolo City died on Monday, 11 days after his teacher allegedly pulled his hair and slapped him in school.

Elena Minggoy said her 14-year-old son Francis Jay Gumikib was hurt by his teacher on September 20 after he reported about his noisy classmates.

Minggoy claimed the teacher pulled her son’s collar and hair and then slapped him just as the Grade 5 student returned to his seat.

The incident happened at Peñafrancia Elementary School, as confirmed by the Department of Education (DepEd) in a statement.

In an interview with Radyo360 on Tuesday, the mother recalled his son telling her: “Mama, wala po akong kasalanan nagsumbong lang ako sa teacher (Mom, it’s not my fault I just reported to the teacher).”

(He said [the class] was noisy, but he said he wasn’t part of the noise because he was taking the test; he just reported.)

But her son was allegedly told by the teacher, “Gusto mo ikaw makisali ka rin sa kanila (If you want, joint them too).”

(When the teacher returned to him, he pulled him by the collar of his uniform then pulled his hair, and thereafter slapped him.)

According to the student’s mother, her son complained of pain in the ear and dizziness after being hit by the teacher.

Her son still managed to attend school in the three days that followed. But on September 26, the Grade 5 student experienced dizziness, headache, and vomiting, which prompted them to rush him to the hospital.

The student fell into a coma and eventually died on October 2, Minggoy said, adding that the doctor found bleeding in her son’s brain.

(The brain is bleeding [said the doctor].)

In a phone interview with INQUIRER.net, Antipolo City Police chief Lieutenant Colonel Ryan Manongdo said that they are still waiting for the autopsy report that will confirm the pupil’s cause of death.

(We are just waiting for the autopsy report to determine the cause of the child’s death.)

The teacher may be charged with homicide in violation of Republic Act 7610 or Anti-Child Abuse Law, he added.

Hi, my name is Marcelito Lapeciros and I am a butcher. I was going about my business butchering a live hog in the usual way. First the pig's legs are tied with rope. Next I use a hard object to knock him on the head unconscious. Then I stab him in the neck to let him bleed to death. Thinking he was dead I preapred to gut him when suddenly the pig came back to life! I was so startled I tossed my knife in the air. In a terrible bit of irony it landed on my throat killing me the same way I killed the pig.

A butcher in Camotes Island in northern Cebu died of a freak accident. This was while he was slaughtering a pig on September 22, 2023, in Pilar town.

Police Captain Michael Echavez, Pilar Police Station chief, identified the victim as Marcelito Lapeciros of Sitio Batang, Barangay Moabog, Pilar town of Camotes Islands.

Echavez said that Lapeciros died of a knife wound in the neck.

The Pilar police chief said that initial investigation showed that Lapeciros was butchering a pig at past 9 a.m. on Friday, September 22.

Lapeciros was using the knife that butcher’s use to slaughter a pig.

Like he would usually do in slaughtering a pig, Lapeciros would hit the pig on the head with a hard object first, rendering it unconscious.

Before that, the pig’s legs were already tied with a rope.

Lapeciros then allegedly stabbed the pig with the knife in the throat area, supposedly killing it.

Thinking that the pig was already dead, he relaxed and was about to stab the pig again to gut it or prepare to remove its intestines when the pig suddenly came alive.

This startled Lapeciros, whose leg got entangled with the rope tied to the pig, and causing him to lose balance.

This also caused him to throw the knife that he was holding up in the air.

And as Lapeciros struggled to regain balance, the knife, which was in the air, landed straight on the throat of the butcher. It’s sharp end hitting the throat area.

The butcher was rushed to the hospital, but he did not make it alive.

Hi, my name is Darwin Batallones. I was running the 50L Spartan race when I collapsed and died. I had a stroke and a heart attack.

A 41-year-old participant of Spartan Trail Run 2023 died after he suffered stroke and heart attack during the race here on October 1.

The Police Regional Office-1 said that Darwin Batallones from Caloocan City was about to finish the 21-kilometer race when he suddenly collapsed. 

Thumbie Remegio, Spartan Race Director, and Jessie M. Cunanan, sought assistance and Batallones was initially taken to the Bacnotan District Hospital. 

Batallones was transferred to the Ilocos Training and Regional Center in San Fernando City, this province, for further treatment after the duty physician at Bacnotan District Hospital found out that the victim suffered a stroke and heart attack.

However, the victim was declared dead at 7:12 p.m.

The race featured different categories such as the Trail 50L, Hurricane Heat 12HR, Trail Half Marathon, and Trail 10K. 

The event seeks to promote the vast trails here and this province.

Hi, my name is Billy Joe Millapre. I was out and about when all of a sudden a coconut tree fell on me and killed me! The cops have decided to charge the cutter with reckless homicide which is something at least.

A 14-year-old boy died after he was hit by a coconut tree that was cut down by a man in Barangay San Miguel, Lavezares town, Northern Samar on Monday, April 10.

Billy Joe Millapre died while being treated at a hospital, according to Capt. Roldan Collamar, chief of the Lavezares Police Station.

The suspect, identified as Noe Lipata Beraya, 36, immediately surrendered to the police.

Initial investigation showed that Beraya was cutting a coconut tree using a chainsaw when it hit Millapre as it fell at about 1:30 p.m. on Monday.

Millapre was rushed to the Allen District Hospital for treatment but died at about 4:30 p.m. on the same day.

Charges of homicide through reckless imprudence were being readied by the local police against Beraya, who is temporarily detained at the Lavezares Police Station.

Hi, my name is James Marvie Brigoli Apor. One night when it was dark and very stormy I decided to go out to a neighbors house to deliver something. My grandmother pleaded with me not to go but I did not heed her cries. I completed my errand and was on my way home when all of a sudden a tree fell on me killing me instantly. A neighbor found my body the next morning.

A 16-year-old boy was killed after he was crushed to death by a coconut tree that was allegedly hit by lightning in Barangay Ampongol, Sogod town, northern Cebu on Wednesday evening, September 20, 2023.

Police Senior Master Sergeant Jerome Quimque, desk officer at the Sogod Police Station, identified the victim as James Marvie Brigoli Apor, 16, a resident of the barangay.

The victim’s aunt, Kathleen Jane Brigoli Momo, said that at around 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Marvie asked permission from his grandmother to go out to deliver something to a neighbor’s house. 

The victim’s grandmother allegedly tried to stop the boy from leaving the house, saying that it was too dangerous to go out late at night because of the heavy rain and thunder.

However, the teenage decided to ignore his grandmother’s warnings and left the house anyway.

The aunt also said that Marvie was able to walk around one kilometer from their residence through a secluded area where there are a lot of trees before the accident took place.

Quimque told CDN Digital in a phone interview that the boy was on his way home when the accident took place.

The victim’s family believes that the coconut tree could have been hit by lightning at the time of the incident, which caused it to suddenly fall down. 

They also believe that Marvie may have been passing directly by chance and was unfortunately crushed by the fallen tree, which ultimately caused his death.

The body of the victim was discovered on the morning of Thursday, September 21, by a neighbor who was passing by the place where the incident happened.

Hi, my name is Mark Capicinio. At 11:20 p.m. one night I decided to climb a coconut tree. However I outbalanced myself and fell. My friends took me to the hospital where I later died.

A 39-year-old man died Tuesday when he fell from a coconut tree in Malvar town in Batangas province.

The Batangas police reported Wednesday, Oct. 12, that Mark Capicinio climbed at 11:20 p.m. a coconut tree in Barangay San Fernando.

Jimson Balero, Capicinio’s companion, said the climber was outbalanced and fell to the ground, the police report showed.

Balero and other residents took Capicinio to the Ospital ng Lipa in Lipa City where he died.

The police will investigate the victim’s death and subject his body to a post-mortem examination.

Hi, my name is Eloisa Gentugao. My partner Arcel Royo and I got into an argument because he was jealous of me. In his anger he put my little dog out on the roof. I crawled out to save him but the roof gave way and I fell to my death. My partner is being charged with reckless imprudence resulting to homicide.

A woman died after she allegedly fell from the roof of her house trying to save her dog in Barangay 176, Bagong Silang, Caloocan City on Wednesday evening, Aug. 16.

Col. Ruben Lacuesta, Caloocan City Police Station (CCPS) chief, identified the victim as Eloisa Gentugao, 28, residing at Phase 10, Vitarich, Package 3, Block 75 Lot Excess, Barangay 176.

Investigation disclosed that the incident happened at around 9:57 p.m. on Wednesday in the victim's house after she and her partner, Arcel Royo, 24, of Tondo, Manila, got into a heated argument allegedly because of jealousy .

Police said that Royo took Gentugao's dog and placed it on the roof of the house prompting the victim to climb and save her pet.

The roof reportedly gave way causing the victim to fall to the ground.

She was brought by Barangay 176 rescuers to a hospital where she was declared dead on arrival at around 11:29 p.m.

Citing the statement of a witness, the CCPS said they are looking into the possibility that Royo pushed the victim from the roof which led to her death.

Police said that Royo was arrested and will be charged for reckless imprudence resulting to homicide at the Caloocan City Prosecutor's Office.  

Hi, my name is George Mayol. I have a Doberman that I love very much but sometimes he gets aggressive. In May 2022 he bit me so bad I needed 59 stitches. I would have died if no one had heard me screaming. My friend and my brother told me I should get rid of the dog but I just couldn't because I felt bad for him. Also I live alone and they kept me company. 

But one day when I was all alone acting as caretaker the dogs attacked me and killed me. After a few days of not seeing me around my neighbor came looking for me. That is when they found my body covered in bites and my clothes tattered.

A dead man who was believed to have been attacked by his dogs, was found inside a small hut in Sitio Molila, Barangay Lawaan 1, Talisay City, Cebu on early Thursday morning, September 28, 2023.

The man was found motionless inside a small hut used as a restroom located a few meters away from a hut where he sleeps at around 7:00 a.m. 

Police Corporal Clifford Lerio, the investigator from the Talisay City Police Station, identified the victim as 63-year-old George Mayol.

He added that they responded to the scene after receiving a report at around 8:20 a.m. about a dead body.

In his report, Lerio stated that upon the arrival of the responding officers, personnel from the Talisay Emergency Medical Services (EMS) assessed the scene and found that the victim had no signs of life.

Mayol was reportedly living alone inside the compound of a land owned by his family as its caretaker.

One of the victim’s neighbors, “Boboy,” said that the Mayol was last seen alive on Monday, September 25, at around 8:00 a.m. when he gave him his favorite bread that he requested.

A few days later, the neighbors noticed that Mayol had not been going out of his house and they grew concerned.

Due to this, Boboy said that a few neighbors went inside the compound early on Thursday to check on Mayol.

However, they found him inside the hut with his clothes in pieces while his dogs were running around the compound.

Boboy said that because of what they found, they suspect that Mayol was attacked by his dogs, particularly his Doberman who has a history of being violent. 

He narrated that that particular dog had bitten Mayol last July 2022 wherein he had to get a total of 59 stitches.

Boboy stated that Mayol escaped the near-death experience after a neighbor heard him screaming for help and came to his rescue.

After the incident, Boboy advised the victim to send his dogs off or bring them to the city pound but was refused as Mayol felt bad for them.

Boboy said that because of what they found, they suspect that Mayol was attacked by his dogs, particularly his Doberman who has a history of being violent. 

He narrated that that particular dog had bitten Mayol last July 2022 wherein he had to get a total of 59 stitches.

Boboy stated that Mayol escaped the near-death experience after a neighbor heard him screaming for help and came to his rescue.

After the incident, Boboy advised the victim to send his dogs off or bring them to the city pound but was refused as Mayol felt bad for them.

The victim’s younger brother, Rodrigo Mayol, said that he also warned his brother about the dog’s behavior and advised him to give them up.

However, his brother who has always been a dog lover, greatly treasured his dogs who became his company while living alone and chose to keep them. 

Rodrigo said that he also suspects that it was the dogs who attacked his brother and caused his untimely death based on the state he was found in.

"In my opinion, he was attacked by his dog. Because he attacked his dog twice," he said.

"I looked here, his shorts are tearing his shorts. He tore a lot of his clothes because he was injured and eaten," he added.

According to Rodrigo, they will not be putting the dead man under autopsy believing that he died because of the attack by the animals.

Insurgency: Greatly Weakened State

Let's go back to April 2023 and take a look at some atrocious and blatantly false propaganda made against the NPA. In April the NPA held a silent 21 gun salute to honor the Tiamzons.

On the break of dawn of April 24, 2023, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP), all units of the New People’s Army (NPA) are directed to stand in formation and silently perform a 21-gun salute, by way of paying respects and giving the highest tribute to Comrade Benito Tiamzon (Ka Laan), Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Central Committee, and Comrade Wilma Austria-Tiamzon (Ka Bagong-tao), General Secretary of the Party.

We are not told why the NPA performed a silent 21-gun salute but that did not stop The Economist from speculating.

Yet this martial display was diminished by an instruction to give the salute silently, either because the army is out of bullets or for fear a fusillade would alert the police. The few hundred fighters who duly lined up (and presumably whispered “bang”) are all that remains of a once-formidable Maoist insurgency. 

The headline says the NPA is out of ammo but the article only speculated that they are out of bullets. The fact is The Economist does not know the NPA is out of ammo. But this article did not go unnoticed in the Philippine press.

FROM the way things are happening lately, it does appear that the New People’s Army (NPA), the armed department of that unholy triumvirate CPP/NPA/NDF, is having a severe shortage or at best no more bullets.

Excerpts from a May 3, 2023 article from The Economist on the CPP/NPA/NDF are amusing to say the least as it revealed the ridiculous situation of the insurgency.

“Last month the guerrilla leaders of the New People’s Army (NPA) ordered its units all over the Philippines to give a 21-gun salute to two fallen heroes (Tiamzon couple). Yet this martial display was diminished by an instruction to give the salute silently, either because the army is out of bullets or for fear a fusillade would alert the police.”

I suppose the few hungry, probably sick and exhausted fighters who duly lined up just whispered “bang” or probably farted simultaneously.

And with that Filipinos have been lied to about the status of the NPA that they are "out of ammo." Obviously the NPA is not out of ammo. Recently a solider was wounded during a confrontation with the NPA.

An Army soldier was wounded and an alleged New People’s Army (NPA) rebel captured in separate encounters on Monday in Batangas and Quezon provinces.

In a report released Tuesday, Oct. 17, the Region 4A police said Private Artemio Avila Jr., from the Army’s 59th Infantry Battalion, was wounded during a clash around 9:45 a.m. with NPA rebels in Barangay Bignay in Lobo, Batangas.

The soldiers were conducting a hot pursuit operation against a group of NPA rebels that they encountered in Lobo the previous day.

In Infanta town in Quezon province, soldiers from the Army’s 1st Infantry Battalion captured an NPA rebel identified as alias “Rico” after an encounter at 9:55 a.m. in Barangay Magsaysay.

The battle lasted for five minutes, after which, the rebels escaped in different directions.

The soldiers recovered an M16 rifle, a .45-caliber pistol, and a handheld radio at the encounter site.

Ammo and bomb parts were discovered in a cave this week.

Police operatives have seized a cache of ammunition and bomb components at a temporary harbor site of Communist New People’s Army (NPA) rebels in Mabinay, Negros Oriental.

They discovered the items in a cave at Sitio Cansanaan in Barangay Abis on Tuesday, Lt. Stephen Polinar, spokesperson and deputy chief of the Police Community Affairs and Development Unit (PCADU) of the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) on Wednesday said.

The 704th Provincial Mobile Force Company received a report of the presence of unidentified armed men believed to be NPA members and immediately conducted an operation in the vicinity of Barangays Bato, Abis and Samac, Polinar said.

They found the cave reportedly been used by suspected NPA members.

A subsequent search yielded one red chest bag containing assorted medicines; a container with suspected ANFO (ammonium nitrate and fuel oil) of approximately four liters; an orange backpack containing two pieces of electric blasting cap; two pieces of 9-volts battery; two rolls of firing wire 10-20 meters each; and several rounds of live ammunition of various caliber for short and long firearms; two magazines; a pair of rainboots; and assorted “subversive” documents.

It is quite obvious that the NPA has not run out of ammo. 

In another piece of propaganda the AFP says the NPA is in a greatly weakened state.

The New People's Army (NPA) and its allies have been greatly weakened after suffering heavy losses from January to August this year, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. said Thursday.

In a forum organized by the Foreign Correspondents Association of the Philippines (FOCAP), Brawner said the AFP has neutralized 2,658 NPA members and their supporters from Jan. 1 to Aug. 17 this year.

Of this number, 124 were killed during encounters with military forces, while 87 were arrested and 2,447 surrendered to the government, he said.

"As far as the communist terrorist group is concerned, we are again happy to report that we have already neutralized most of the guerrilla fronts operating in the country. We have weakened a lot of them and there are now just a few armed elements operating in the country," Brawner said.

With these constant losses, he said, they are seeing a "downward trend of the number of communist coddlers" caused by the neutralization of many of their ranking leaders.

"We are very happy because since last year, with the neutralization of their top, their key leaders, we have seen a widespread surrender of fighters, and also with the death of (Communist Party of the Philippines founder Jose Maria) 'Joma' Sison, now we see that they (are) losing the ideology," Brawner said.

“And with this decline, many of the surviving NPAs could be just classified as bandits as they are engaged in extortion rackets.”

He noted the possibility of the AFP “neutralizing” the NPA by the end of the year.

"(And) when we say neutralize, it doesn’t mean that we are going for total annihilation – it's impossible to do that. But what we are trying to say is that by the end of the year, most of these horizontal and vertical formations – horizontal, these are the guerilla fronts; vertical formations are the small armed units that would go around to wreak havoc in the communities – we are hoping that they will be inconsequential, (and) not be able to launch any terroristic activities anymore," Brawner said.

So, 2,658 NPA members and supporters have been neutralized between January and August yet allegedly there are only about 2,000 NPA left. Once again the AFP is inflating the numbers by including supporters along with actual NPA fighters. 

But more importantly take note that we are now being told that neutralizing the NPA by the end of the year does not mean total annihilation and that such a goal is impossible. That is basically an admission of defeat. Is the Philippines really going to have to live with the NPA forever? 

Despite being "in a greatly weakened state" the Army is still warning about recruitment.

The Philippine Army based in Misamis Oriental urged the youth to reject any attempts of recruitment to become communist rebels under the New People’s Army (NPA), especially with the start of the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Election BSKE) campaign period.

Lt. Col. Christian Uy, Army’s 58th Infantry Battalion (IB) commander, said youth empowerment and education in countering extremist ideologies are two important aspects that can dissuade the youth from joining the rebel group.

"Ultimately, this will promote peace and security in the country and safeguard the youth as a contributor to nation-building," Uy said in a statement Thursday.

By equipping the student sector with knowledge and awareness, Uy said the Philippine Army can help young people make informed decisions and avoid being recruited by the NPA.

Well, if the goal is not total annihilation I suppose we can except recruitment to continue in a never ending cycle of the AFP doing nothing to actually end the insurgency finally.

Apocrypha Scrolls Found In Qumran And Those Not Present, Vol. 2

As I noted in my review of volume one there has been so much ink spilled about these books that Tim's contributions are absolutely not needed and they are in no way helpful. I am not interested in rebutting or affirming the canonicity of these texts but in showcasing Tim's awful methodology. 

The fact is the Roman Catholics and the Eastern Orthodox consider the Apocryphal books to be canonical scripture. For some reason Tim is under the impression that the exclusion of these books from Protestant Bibles is a conspiracy to hide the truth. That is simply not the case as prior to the 19th century all Protestant Bibles contained these books. The reason they were removed was purely a cost saving measure by Bible translation societies. 

In 1826, the National Bible Society of Scotland petitioned the British and Foreign Bible Society not to print the Apocrypha, resulting in a decision that no BFBS funds were to pay for printing any Apocryphal books anywhere. They reasoned that by not printing the secondary material of Apocrypha within the Bible, the scriptures would prove to be less costly to produce. The precise form of the resolution was:

That the funds of the Society be applied to the printing and circulation of the Canonical Books of Scripture, to the exclusion of those Books and parts of Books usually termed Apocryphal.

Similarly, in 1827, the American Bible Society determined that no bibles issued from their depository should contain the Apocrypha.

This removal then became the standard for all Protestant Bibles. Yet Tim writes:

Though Wisdom of Solomon direct fragments are not found in Qumran, it is clear the community read and used it as inspired. When our modern Canon is not following this firmly established precedent, one must wonder what the agenda of modern scholars may be.

Is this guy so stupid as to not realize that scholars do not, have not, and never will determine the Biblical Canon? Is he also so stupid as to not realize anyone can buy a Bible with these books in it? Take note that Tim admits no fragments of the Wisdom of Solomon were found in Qumran. Of course he cites a few scholars to help him prove otherwise which is rather hypocritical of him. 

Now, keep in mind that Tim's guiding principle as to what is and is not scripture is "Was it found at Qumran?" The Wisdom of Solomon was not found at Qumran but that does not stop Tim from rejecting it because a few passages from the Dead Sea Scrolls appear to cite it. Tim then proceeds to prove Wisdom was quoted in the New Testament and says something rather interesting:

This is extremely compelling that the Wisdom of Solomon was quoted in the New Testament and most importantly, whether attributed to that book or not, the doctrine is there.

So, something can be in the Bible without being directly spelled out? Did Tim forget that he denies the Trinity because the word is not the Bible? The concept certainly is though. 

The History of Susana was also not found at Qumran but again that is not stopping Tim from declaring it was because of a tiny fragment that appears to have "a few points of contact."

In our view, a "few points of contact" to Susanna's one chapter in fragments this small is solid in being able to affirm it found there. Fragments are all we have of most of the scripture found there and they had no problem trying to stretch the Proto-Esther Fragments belonging to 1st Esdras over to Esther in fraud.

In "vetting" Susana Tim claims one scholar, J.T. Milik, actually thought the book was found at Qumran but changed his mind due to "pressure."

Initially. J.T. Milik suggested this fragment as belonging to the story of Susanna. He changed his view in the end but likely due to pressure.

In fact many scholars are covering-up the truth due to "pressure."

Basically, the math is simple. Out of 10 criteria, Susanna passes on 8 of 10 with an 80 percent score. The two criteria in which it doesn't agree, also do not correspond to Judges. However, Judges 19 fails miserably with a 50 percent score fitting 5 of 10 criteria. What kind of scholar cannot conduct such a simple test to decide? The kind that does not wish to perhaps due to pressure. This is gross negligence. This Qumran fragment squares to Susanna in content as Susanna was found there.

Of course Tim does not tell us who is pressuring these scholars or why they are doing it. It's simply ad hoc nonsense because Tim thinks he is right and everyone is wrong. 

Both Bel and the Dragon and The Prayer of Azaryah were also not found in Qumran.

In light of the ancient association of Daniel and its addendum of Susanna, which was found in Qumran, it is more than reasonable to connect both Bel & The Dragon as well as Prayer of Azaryah as all three small books were once considered part of, and attached to, the Book of Daniel. 

Though no direct Qumran fragments exist for this one chapter, the association is firm as demonstrated by the Greek Septuagint (LXX)from the B.C. era, Theodotion's Greek Version 1811, and the Egyptian find of Papyrus 967 especially (McLay [108]). Bel & The Dragon was also found in manuscript form in Cod. Ambmsianus (MS) [oaf. Cyprian (257) quoted Danie114:5 which is Bel & The Dragon published as the Book of Daniel [84]1811. Origen  defended it as canon. Pope Damasus I (305384) included Daniel as “one book" incorporating Susanna, Bel & The Dragon, and Prayer of Azaryah. The tradition is well established. It does not matter that there may be some publishing from the ancient era which separated these books. What matters is that they were together in some form published within Daniel.

Just as with Bel & The Dragon, even without fragments in Qumran, we find the association strong enough that Daniel did include these addendums as his practice. When one reviews this powerful prayer, it certainly rings true in content as well. There is nothing to be afraid in perusing this small book. At the end of the full publishing of this book, we will vet the plausibility of the details.

Tim's proof that these texts were used at Qumran is because anciently they were all part of the Book of Daniel. 

Sorry not sorry but that is not enough. Let me restate Tim's criterion for Biblical Canonicity once more:

The first and sole true judge of historicity is whether or not a text was found affirmed in the Dead Sea Scrolls where the Temple Priests were who kept the only official Bible Canon to the First Century.

Also known as the "Book of Wisdom" or simply as "Wisdom" in some translations and quotes, direct fragments of the Wisdom of Solomon were not found present in Qumran. However, it was used by the author °floral community documents such as 4QInstruction. It appears this book was included in the original Greek Septuagint which dates in origin to the 300-200 B.C. era. Unfortunately, many scoffers would claim we do not know if Wisdom of Solomon was originally there even though it carried through tradition for thousands of years. However, with the connection to Qumran, there is no debate on that point. It was certainly perceived and used as inspired scripture in that time and more importantly than Egyptian translators or the Pharisees such as Josephus, by the actual Qumran/Bethabara exiled Temple Priests. They are the final word on the Old Testament Canon from the time of Moses and really Jacob to the First Century.

These three additions to Daniel as well as the Book of Wisdom were not found amongst the Dead Sea Scrolls in Qumran. Therefore, according to Tim's criteria, they are not part of the Old Testament canon. End of story. 

Needless to say there is a lot of nonsense in this book. In an attempt to defend the historicity of Bel and the Dragon Timothy Jay Schwab has an entire section devoted to proving dragons existed.

Probably the most important section in this book is Tim's attempted dismissal of Maccabees as falsified history. This section is 40 pages long and is a very convoluted interpretation of history that barely cites from Maccabees except in derision. Let's take a look at a few things he says.

By 165 B.C., Greece was distracted and otherwise engaged as they were in decline. Multiple battles with Rome for over live decades were taking a toll. Greek resources were shifted back to Greece to fight the Romans and it makes no sense for a Greek ruler to begin to act as a dictator. The entire narrative of Antiochus IV Epiphanes needing to enter the Temple to sacrifice a pig instigating another front of war with Judaea would not just be incredibly stupid timing, it never happened, It was the Samaritans who sensed the absence of Greek power and in that vacuum, they seized the opportunity to assault and capture the Temple never returning it to the Levites. They claim to be Levites yet all the sons of Zadok were in the Temple at that time managing worship and none lived in Samaria from where the Maccabees originated. The problem for Maccabees is they came from a foreign country, not Judaea. No sons of Zadok were there in Modrin, and they were not Levites. They were foreign invaders conquering the Temple which they had desired for many centuries.

Ah yes, it was the Samaritans who assaulted Jerusalem and took over the Temple. Where is this history recorded in the New Testament or anywhere else? It isn't. It's not there. At no time when Jesus encounters the Samaritans does he mention such a history and when he condemns the priests he never calls them fake Samaritans. 

Tim goes on to interpret Daniel 8:9.

And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land.

He interprets it this way:

This passage also identifies that this Little Horn rises from inside of the same horn in which Jerusalem is located. Thus, this is not a mystery in the slightest. Jerusalem is in Ptolemy and this enemy, which is not Greece though part of its conquest, are just to the Northwest of Jerusalem which must still be Ptolemy. They cannot be the Seleucids who are already an identified horn and this one is new rising out of Ptolemy which narrows this down. The area there falls outside of Judaea in Samaria but Southern Samaria at this time was still part of Ptolemy's region still. The locals still observed the separation of Judaea from Samaria but Greece and even Rome later, never really did. The Seleucid area begins just North of that which would no longer be Ptolemy and cannot conform to Daniel's prophecy. It is a complete lie that Antiochus IV Epiphanes, a Seleucid, defiled the Temple according to Daniel. 

This most be a power within Ptolemy, smaller than all of Ptolemy, that rises, thus was not risen as a power yet in those days. It cannot be a full horn of four, but a Little Horn rising as a portion of one of the four, and it attacks Ptolemy's portion of Jerusalem including the Temple especially. This means Daniel defines Josephus and Maccabees as a false history as both fail to even understand the geography of those days. The Seleucid Antiochus IV Epiphanes was not from Ptolemy, is not a new power, and cannot rise out of Ptolemy when the horn of his authority was already in power since Alexander's death, and not new. That traditional interpretation has always been harebrained and uneducated. The Dead Sea Scrolls fully reveal this.

This is 100% wrong. The Little Horn is not Samaria. It is Antiochus who warred against Egypt (the south),  the East (Persia), and Israel (the pleasant land.) Samaria did not attack Egypt. Antiochus IV did and that is exactly what Maccabees tells us. 

1 Maccabees 1:16 Now when the kingdom was established before Antiochus, he thought to reign over Egypt that he might have the dominion of two realms.

17 Wherefore he entered into Egypt with a great multitude, with chariots, and elephants, and horsemen, and a great navy,

18 And made war against Ptolemee king of Egypt: but Ptolemee was afraid of him, and fled; and many were wounded to death.

19 Thus they got the strong cities in the land of Egypt and he took the spoils thereof.

20 And after that Antiochus had smitten Egypt, he returned again in the hundred forty and third year, and went up against Israel and Jerusalem with a great multitude,

21 And entered proudly into the sanctuary, and took away the golden altar, and the candlestick of light, and all the vessels thereof,

22 And the table of the shewbread, and the pouring vessels, and the vials. and the censers of gold, and the veil, and the crown, and the golden ornaments that were before the temple, all which he pulled off.

23 He took also the silver and the gold, and the precious vessels: also he took the hidden treasures which he found.

24 And when he had taken all away, he went into his own land, having made a great massacre, and spoken very proudly.

This invasion of Egypt is known as the sixth Syrian war and it is documented in history. Of course Tim does not discuss this because he is dead set on twisting everything he can to "prove" Maccabees is fake history. He also says Maccabees is not cited in the New Testament but that is not true. Paul alludes to the events of Maccabees in Hebrews 11:35.

Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:

That is a direct reference to 2 Maccabees 7.

20 But the mother was marvellous above all, and worthy of honourable memory: for when she saw her seven sons slain within the space of one day, she bare it with a good courage, because of the hope that she had in the Lord.

21 Yea, she exhorted every one of them in her own language, filled with courageous spirits; and stirring up her womanish thoughts with a manly stomach, she said unto them,

22 I cannot tell how ye came into my womb: for I neither gave you breath nor life, neither was it I that formed the members of every one of you;

23 But doubtless the Creator of the world, who formed the generation of man, and found out the beginning of all things, will also of his own mercy give you breath and life again, as ye now regard not your own selves for his laws' sake.

Clearly Paul thought the events of Maccabees happened or else he would not have included this bit in his Hall of Faith. 

As I noted Tim's invective against Maccabees is very convoluted and there is no space here to unravel it. What I have written above is quite enough to dismiss his false claims. This whole book is nonsense and I have skipped over quite a lot. Let me end with one more thing. In defending the Book of Tobit as scripture Tim says Acts 20:35 is a direct quote of Tobit 12:8.

For us, there are others we feel Charles and the 1611 KJV may not have found but this is good enough for the connection in secondary evidence. One fascinating controversial scripture is Luke writing of Paul's citation of Yahusha in Acts 20:35 "how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive." Yahusha did not appear to have said that in the Gospels anywhere and many scholars scoff instead of reconciling. However, it is a direct quote of Tobit 12:8: It is better to give alms than to lay up gold." Did Luke attribute the quote to the wrong person? Perhaps. Does that undermine the whole of scripture? Only for an idiot who is incapable of elementary understanding in these days of scoffing.

Tim hints at that in this book he is "testing" more texts in an attempt to restore the Bible. Authorities nabbed a Philippine Coast Guard personnel Tuesday in a checkpoint along the national highway in Kumalarang town, Zamboanga del Sur after it was discovered that his car was loaded with 400 reams of smuggled cigarettes.

Lt. Col. Juliuxar Asdani, commander of the 2nd Zamboanga del Sur Police Provincial Mobile Force Company, identified the suspect as 32-year-old Seaman First Class Nasrin Sangsangan who is assigned at the coast guard station in Pagadian City.

Sangsangan is a resident of Zamboanga City.

The suspect was randomly flagged at a checkpoint when authorities found the cigarettes inside his Toyota Vios car. When asked for relevant documents, Sangsangan failed to show any, hence the goods were presumed contrabands.

Sangsangan was arrested and detained at the Kumalarang municipal police station.

A member of the Coast Guard has been busted for smuggling cigarettes.

Operatives of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) have arrested an active cop and another police officer declared absent without official leave (AWOL) after they were caught selling suspected shabu in a buy-bust operation in Muntinlupa City.

In a statement released on Friday, NCRPO chief Brig. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. identified the suspects as Patrolman Rey Palomar Baldonasa, 25, currently assigned at the Drug Enforcement Unit of the NCRPO, and Carlos Rivera Navarro, 31, declared AWOL from the Philippine National Police (PNP) and previously assigned at the Caloocan City Police Office.

Nartatez said the two suspects were arrested by operatives of the Station Drug Enforcement Unit of the Muntinlupa City Police during a buy-bust operation conducted in Purok 10, Amparo Street, Barangay Poblacion, Muntinlupa City at about 11:50 p.m. on Oct. 11.

Seized from the suspects during the sting were two 9-mm. Canik pistols, two Canik magazines with live ammunition, two PNP-issued identification cards, and suspected shabu weighing 10 grams with an estimated street value of PHP68,000.

Baldonasa and Navarro will be charged with violation of Article II, Sections 5, 11, and 26 of Republic Act (RA) 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and RA 10591, or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition, in relation to Batas Pambansa 881, or the Omnibus Election Code.

The arrested cops are in the custody of the Muntinlupa City Police.

Seventy-three employees of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) have either been dismissed or susended this year on charges of corruption, Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco said on Friday, Oct. 13.

Also, Tansingco said there are a total of 72 pending cases before the Board of Discipline (BOD) against erring immigration personnel since he assumed office.

He said he has been enforcing a "one strike policy” wherein personnel involved in controversies are immediately removed from the frontlines pending investigation.

He pointed out that corruption "has been a long problem of the Bureau, and we are making significant strides to catch corrupt employees and prevent other personnel from being tempted to go the rouge path."

He expressed hopes that the technological upgrades at the BI will be able provide another layer of security and prevent corruption.

73 BI employees have been dismissed due to corruption.

The Sandiganbayan has affirmed the conviction of former acting general manager Jamaloden H. Faisal of the Tugaya Water District in Lanao del Sur for graft and malversation of public funds in the P10 million water supply improvement project in 2011.

Affirmed were Faisal's six to 10 years prison term for graft and a maximum of 40 years imprisonment (reclusion perpetua) for malversation of public funds.  

On top of perpetual disqualification to hold public office, also upheld were the anti-graft court's orders for Faisal to pay a fine of P10.07 million and to return P10.07 million to the Bureau of Treasury.

Faisal's co-accused, Nascon Builders General Manager Alkahin Ebrahim, remains at large. The case against him has been ordered archived pending his arrest.

In filing the cases before the Sandiganbayan, the prosecutors said that the construction for the water supply improvement project was never implemented, and that the whole project was fictitious and non-existent. 

The prosecutors also said that Faisal liquidated the amount of P10,074,680, which was received from the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA), through the Physical Accomplishment Report as of July 2011 prepared by Ebrahim.

In his motion for reconsideration, Faisal told the court that he was never appointed general manager of the water district and that there was falsification of his appointment documents.

In denying his motion, the court said that Faisal had waived his right to file the motion because he failed to appear during the promulgation of judgment of conviction. It pointed out that there was no justifiable cause for his absence, and, thus, he had lost his standing in court.

"Considering that accused-movant Faisal was out of bail during the trial, he is deemed to have jumped bail when he failed to appear at the promulgation of his sentence. It is settled that once an accused escapes from prison or confinement, jumps bail, or flees to a foreign country, he loses his standing in court," the court explained in its resolution.

"Unless he surrenders or submits to the jurisdiction of the court, he is deemed to have waived any right to seek relief from the court," it stressed. 

At the same time, the court said it was not inclined to change its decision of conviction because the issues raised by Faisal "were a mere rehash of the basic issues which were already exhaustively passed upon, duly considered, and resolved in the assailed decision."

The conviction of an ex-water official for graft and malversation of public funds has been upheld.

Members of the anti-scalawag unit of the Philippine National Police (PNP) arrested two former police officers for malversation of public property and failing to attend court hearings in relation to theft charges.

In a statement Wednesday, PNP-Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (IMEG) chief Brig. Gen. Warren de Leon said the suspect Luis Jomok III was arrested inside the maximum security compound of the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City on Monday.

The suspect is detained at the facility after he was arrested in June 2022 on homicide charges over his involvement in a shooting incident in August 2008 in Pasay City that resulted in the death of victim Billy Lozada.

Jomok was ordered arrested by the Antipolo City, Rizal Regional Trial Court Branch 71 in February this year for two counts of theft, with a total recommended bail of PHP68,000.

The arrest warrant stemmed from the complaint of a certain Herminio Tan, owner of a gas refilling plant, who accused the suspect of taking several items and equipment worth PHP70,000 from the plant.

Also on Monday, IMEG members arrested Joel Jasareno, a police master sergeant who went absent without official leave (AWOL), in Tondo, Manila.

Jasareno has a standing warrant of arrest issued by the Quezon City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 81, with a recommended bail of PHP60,000.

De Leon said the malversation complaint was filed by the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) against Jasareno for failing to return the Galil long firearm that was issued to him.

The local government of Davao City made “inappropriate” expenditures after it charged P6.45 million against its 20-percent development fund, which goes against rules for such funding, according to the Commission on Audit (COA).

Citing the COA’s audit compliance report on Davao City, specifically on the utilization of the 20-percent development fund for 2022, state auditors said the city government appropriated a total amount of P2.1 billion for the fund.

However, their observations cited expenditures “not allowed” to be charged under the P2.1-billion development fund, including catering services (P125,000), financial assistance for centenarians (P3.2 million), payment for prizes of Davao Sports Festival 2022 (P1.9 million), meal allowances (P802,964) and payment of badminton court rental (P56,700), among others.

Overall, the city government spent P6.45 million from the development fund, which state auditors noted was “not in accordance” with the guidelines under a joint memorandum circular of the departments of budget and management, finance, and interior and local government.

Under these guidelines, the development fund should only be spent on development projects and programs that are “essential to the promotion of the general welfare of the people.”

Auditors said they inquired with Davao City’s budget office and the city accountant’s office, which both told the COA that the expenditures were “due to management’s (Davao City) misinterpretation” that the expenses were allowed.

“As a result, the purpose for which the fund has been established was defeated, and the optimal utilization of the fund was not achieved,” the COA said in its compliance report on Davao City.

It also pointed out that if the Davao City government had “properly identified” the projects and had it “carefully evaluated” the expenditure items, the expenses could have been avoided and could have been used for the city’s priority projects.

Other cities with appropriated development funds had been commended by the COA after showing how they properly utilized the allotted budget. Among these cities are Manila, Makati, Pasig, Taguig, Mandaluyong, Parañaque and Quezon in Metro Manila, and Cebu and Mandaue in Cebu province.

The Davao City government had earlier committed that it would use its development fund for social development projects like the construction of buildings and bridges, general public services, economic development program, and environmental development.

State auditors, in their recommendation, asked the city government of Davao to stop its practice of charging such non-related expenditures to the 20-percent development fund.

It also told the city government to require its budget office to review and evaluate the expenditure items under the development fund and to prevent any expenses of “disallowable items.”

Davao City has been flagged by the COA for inappropriate expenditures.

A Bureau of Immigration (BI) officer has been convicted in the falsification of travel records which showed that former Wirecard chief operating officer Jan Marsalek was in the Philippines although he did not arrive and leave the country in 2020.

In a statement, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said that BI officer Marcos S. Nicodemus has been found guilty by the Pasay City regional trial court (RTC) of violations of Republic Act No. 10175, the Cybercrime Prevention Act, and RA 3019, the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act.

An official copy of the RTC decision was not given by the NBI.  It said that Nicodemus "was sentenced by the court to a maximum imprisonment of nine years for each of the criminal cases with perpetual disqualification to hold public office."

A BI officer has been convicted of falsifying immigration records.
