What Liquor Ban?

Tomorrow is election day which means today starts the 48 hour ban on selling liquor.

https://news.mb.com.ph/2018/05/12/comelec-reminds-public-liquor-ban-starts-sunday/
Selling, furnishing, offering, buying, serving, or taking intoxicating liquor is prohibited, according to Comelec.
Now pardon my confusion but I just bought two half litter bottles of Red Horse tonight. I wandered around the store looking for what snack to buy when I saw two other guys buy a few bottles of flavoured Tanduay Ice so I tried my luck with the two bottles of Red Horse. I asked the saleslady about the ban and she must not have heard me because she only smiled and said nothing.

Isn't beer an intoxicating liquor? Or do they mean rum, whisky, vodka, and gin? Isn't the point of the ban to stop intoxication because political debates around here tend to get rowdy and end with gunshots? Why wouldn't beer be included in this ban.  Or is it included and he store is in the wrong for selling it?

Today I saw what must be my favourite campaign poster.

Can you appreciate how epic it is? This candidate has transformed a simple barangay election into a contest between good and evil. "Evil triumph because good men do nothing." Ely M. Dela Llave must win. He is the good man fighting against the evil of crime, drugs, and corruption. See how he intensely stares back at the voter with his muscular arms and his no nonsense haircut? He knows the fate of the barangay is in your hands but he wants YOU to know that. He wants you to feel the heavy burden of your vote lying on your shoulders. He must win or else evil will triumph and you are the key. You have the power to make that happen. Together with your vote and his incumbency evil can be eradicated making way for a reign of peace and order. Not voting for this guy would be like giving the One Ring to Sauron. Unspeakable darkness and until horror would sweep across the land.

What will you do?

The Most Bizarre Campaign Banner

Is this the most bizarre campaign banner or what?

What's so bizarre about it you ask? Because it's not even a campaign banner.  It's a CV! A resume! There is no indication of the office for which he is running. For what position are these jobs and accolades supposed to qualify him?

His employment record does not even make sense. How can he possibly have been a manager at a company in Roxas City from 1978 - 1992 while also being a manager at a company in Saudi Arabia from 1985 - 1988?  That would be one heck of a commute!

Here is another banner that is just mind blowing. To me anyway. Once again no indication for what office he is running. And the icing on the cake is the quote from George W. Bush.  Wait a minute. That's actually a quote from George H. W. Bush who is George W. Bush's father. Confusing I know. It's from his 1989 inaugural address.
And my first act as President is a prayer. I ask you to bow your heads:
Heavenly Father, we bow our heads and thank You for Your love. Accept our thanks for the peace that yields this day and the shared faith that makes its continuance likely. Make us strong to do Your work, willing to heed and hear Your will, and write on our hearts these words: "Use power to help people." For we are given power not to advance our own purposes, nor to make a great show in the world, nor a name. There is but one just use of power, and it is to serve people. Help us to remember it, Lord. Amen.

Funny to see this ex-CIA head and skull and bonesman using religion to kick off his presidency which would feature a senseless invasion of Iraq, setting the stage for his son's invasion of Iraq in 2003. Who remembers GHW Bush's inaugural address much less quotes it? I bet he did an internet search for a quote with the words "serve" and "people" and has no idea who George H. W. Bush is.  The most memorable quote from GHW Bush is surely: "Read my lips: NO. NEW. TAXES." A campaign promise he broke during his term!

Even funnier to see some Filipino politician quoting, of all the American Presidents he could quote, George H. W. Bush, a man who famously broke his most famous campaign promise and set America down the long road of desert warfare which lasts until this day. I bet he did an internet search for a quote with the words "serve" and "people" and has no idea who George H. W. Bush is.
