Starbucks Espresso Machine Broken

Only in the Philippines have I ever walked into a Starbucks wanting an espresso drink only to be told, "Sorry sir but the espresso machine is broken so no espresso drinks. We have brewed coffee if you like."

No I do not want overpriced brewed coffee. I have plenty of grounds at home thank you very much. What I do not have is an espresso machine.

They said it would be fixed in the afternoon but does it look like anyone is working on it?  They did not even have the decency to put an "Out of Order" sign on the machine.

I left empty-handed.

  1. David,
Did you really expect any less? All to often when we go out to eat I look at the menu and place my order only to hear "Sorry sir, out of stock." Sometimes that happens 4,5,6 times at the same place during the same visit. When that happens I just look at them and ask them "Well, what's on the menu that you do have? If you cannot keep the place stocked with food on the menu then why open a restaurant?" One thing that might make you feel better, our Starbucks went out of business. Maybe becuae they never fixed their espresso machine? LOL

    1. Well I do go here often and it has never happened before. But they could have put a sign on the machine. Once at the McDonald's drive thru I ordered a McChicken with cheese added and it was such a struggle to get them to add a slice of cheese to the sandwich! Finally they did after having the manager key it in. Same goes with pizza. You have to order what is on the menu with no customisation.

    2. My problem is I order stuff from the menu as stated on menu and it's still, "Sorry sir. Out of stock." LOL

    3. It's too funny for me to read this article because yesterday I found an article in French called Sorry, out of stock:
      https://translate.google.ca/translate?sl=fr&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fretraitecocotiers.over-blog.com%2F2014%2F11%2Fsorry-out-of-stock-sir.html&edit-text=

The author is explaining the signification of the term "Out of stock" in the Philippines:

I propose several versions for the meaning of "out of stock":

      - I do not understand your request because you have a very curious accent

      - I do not want to look like an idiot so I evacuate the problem by answering that

      - It's almost time for my break, so I do not have time to help you

      - I do not want to work because I'm tired for partying last night

and finally, we do not have this item in stock.
