If anyone sitting on top of or standing in the back of a truck has ever fallen off, I have yet to see it.  It's like stupid people have some kind of supernatural protection.

I have so many pictures of Filipinos standing in the back of trucks or riding on the top of trucks it's ridiculous.  Here are just a few.

They're still standing.  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Even on the highways they still pack 'em in like sardines and there's like 50 people standing in the back of a speeding truck.  It's surprising there aren't more highway fatalities.

You never know what you are going to see when you leave the house. Just when you think you have seen everything something more ridiculous comes along.

Why are they all standing in the back of a moving vehicle?  Why is there a little girl sitting on the motorcycle?  Why do none of these people care about their safety or the safety of the little girl? 

One swerving motorcycle, jeepney, taxi, sugarcane truck, or car causing the driver to slam on the brakes and it's all over for these people. The most shocking thing about driving in the Philippines isn't the complete lack of concern drivers have for safety and the rules of the road but the fact that there aren't more deadly accidents.

Standing in Trucks

This will be the first of a new series titled "Standing in Trucks."  For some reason Filipinos love to stand in the back of trucks while they are moving.  Rather then sit down in safety they choose to endanger themselves by standing. Not that sitting in the back of a moving truck is safe but it is safer than standing up with the wind in your face and the risk of being thrown about if the tuck stops suddenly or gets into an accident.  Every single time I leave the house I see this phenomenon and this series will serve to document it.
