The God Culture: Yes, Virginia, Timothy Jay Schwab is an Anti-trinitarian

Timothy Jay Schwab who is The God Culture is, by every measure, an anti-trinitarian heretic. He does not believe in or teach the doctrine that God is three persons (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) sharing one essence. Tim's own words proving he denies the doctrine of the Trinity have been thoroughly documented on this blog. Tim claims Elohim is only two, the Father and the Son. The Holy Spirit is not Elohim but is likely a creation relegated to Earth.

Yet, Tim continues to insist he is not anti-trinitarian.

2. Anti-Trinitarian Claim

The blogger asserts:

“He teaches the Holy Spirit is not God, is not eternal, and is likely a creature.”

🧠 Assessment: This misrepresents The God Culture's statements in context. We’ve repeatedly clarified that we have not denied the roles of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — we’ve even said they are Eternal, while clarifying definitions and exploring historical and Biblical interpretations. These comments are taken out of context and misused to label our position in a way that triggers theological condemnation (slander under religious discrimination).

https://thegodculturephilippines.com/the-accuser-strikes-again----but-the-truth-still-stands/

Stating that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit have distinct roles is not to confess the doctrine of the Trinity Stating that all three are eternal is also not specifically Trinitarian. This is especially the case as regards the Holy Spirit. Tim has redefined what it means for Him to be eternal.

Restoring Creation: Part 9: Is Darkness Evil? Or Good?

6:48 When you see the word eternal that does not mean they don't have a beginning understand that as well our spirits are eternal, right? But most certainly have a beginning. We were created, right? Angels are eternal but they have a creation point we're actually gonna cover that very clearly on the first day. Uh, it's just not there uh, you know so trying to take, again, a word, uh, out of its own definition, eternal doesn't mean they've lived forever it means they will live forever, umm it does not mean they don't have a beginning. So, they see that word eternal, uh, used in terms of the Ruach and then they assume Oh that means the Holy Spirt is also from before creation, right? Well actually no. No, it doesn't mean that and it doesn't say that.

Can you hear what Tim is saying? He is saying the Holy Spirit, the Ruach Elohim, is a CREATION! He had a beginning. He is not eternal God. That is fundamentally anti-trinitarian and contradicts Tim's denial that he is not an anti-trinitarian.

Recently Tim reconfirmed his commitment to being anti-trinitarian.

@Gameow-i2v Brother, I hope you can help me with something that has been weighing on my mind for quite some time. It’s about Yahua and Yahusha, the Father and the Son. My question is whether they are to be understood as one being or as separate entities. This topic often troubles me, and I’d like to gain more clarity on their relationship and nature. Your insights would be greatly appreciated.

@TheGodCulture As Yahusha was not schizophrenia, he spoke to the Father as a separate being in Heaven whole He was on Earth. Therefore, though they function as one, they are 2. Watch Who Is Elohim? Yah Bless.

In this exchange Tim says very explicitly the Father and the Son operate as two. There is no mention of the Holy Spirit. Now, Tim might wiggle his way out of this by saying the commenter did not ask about the Holy Spirit. However, Tim says to watch his video "Who is Elohim?" which is full of statements denying the divinity of the Holy Spirit.

Restoring Creation: Part 12: Who Is Elohim? Gen. 1:1 Understood. First Day.

1:39 Well, who then are the Elohim of Genesis 1:1 before the angels were even created? Yes they are called Elohim as well because Elohim is a general term for  heavenly being. However, there are no other heavenly beings there is two here actually. There's another being on earth, uh, and there you go, that's it, at creation in the very beginning.

18:59 But who is Elohim? Well, the word is plural at least two in the Hebrew, the "im" on the end makes it plural. Plural means not one but two

37:37 So, in the beginning Elohim created the heavens and the earth. That Elohim is two. The Father and the Son. Again, the Holy Spirit's there but there's no Scripture that ever attributes the Holy Spirit as a creator. It's just not there. You can try to add it. You can try to say, you know, it's equated in some context somewhere. That's fine go ahead and do that but we don't. We just don't placate those kinds of thinkings. We, we go with what the Bible says. So, that's not His role it just isn't in scripture. If it was His role then show us the Scripture. Well you won't because it's not there.

39:05 But here basically the word Elohim is a generic term for heavenly being. But again, the only beings in heaven at the tome of Genesis 1:1 are the Father and the Son. The Holy Spirit is hovering on the waters. He's on earth which is where he is throughout Scripture. His role is on earth.

51:53 So, Yahusha, the Son, is part of Elohim which is plural for two at creation, the Father and the Son. That is the only who qualify as creators. In the beginning Elohim created, right? Again we'll cover this more but the Holy Spirit is not known as Elohim nor a Creator. It's just not there. He is incredibly important and physically present at creation indeed not in heaven but on Earth where he is found throughout scripture in the Old and New Testaments alike but still that doesn't make him what the Bible never calls Him. He is not the Elohim of Creation in the sense of creating. He just doesn't do that that the text says at all. In the beginning Elohim created does not include Him as such though He is present indeed. We aren't going to force something this important because of, well, illiterate ridicule using an anti-trinitarian label or whatever. Who cares? Which also is a word that, well, never exists in scripture. Oh how about that? Talk about the dumbest of false paradigms. Such inept fools don't even realize the words they use aren't even in the Bible yet they beat people over the head for not using their unbiblical words and doctrines for that matter. Now that's pretty dumb. Wow.

Those are all anti-trinitarian statements denying the Holy Spirit is Elohim or God. A more comprehensive list of quotes from Tim denying the Godhood of the Holy Spirit, and thus the Trinity, can be read here.

Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormons, Iglesia Ni Cristo, and many other groups all confess their belief in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. That does not make them Trinitarian. They all deny that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirt are three persons sharing one essence. So does Tim. His statements are on record.

Tim says labelling him anti-trinitarian:

triggers theological condemnation (slander under religious discrimination).

Which is ridiculous. First of all it's not slander to call Tim anti-trinitarian when the label is a theological assessment based on his own public teachings. It is not a malicious falsehood. Second of all the Trinity is a fundamental Christian doctrine. Those who do not confess it are not Christians and deserve to be condemned.  Calling out heresy protects the faith. It steers people clear of false teachers such as Timothy Jay Schwab who lies far outside the faith of the Nicene Creed. Tim is rightly condemned for denying this essential doctrine.

The proper thing for Tim to do is repent of his heresy. But he is not going to do that. Therefore the only thing for him to do is to own up to his beliefs. For him to deny being anti-trinitarian while spouting anti-trinitarian teaching is illogical. It's the same as when he says he is not a flat-farther in a video where he teaches the earth is flat.

Answers in First Enoch Part 7: Enoch's Middle of the Earth. Exiting Inner Earth
5:57 Observance tells us the same. we know this with our eyes but we're told to ignore our eyes our scientific observation and accept their spinning ball in faith which is never something they've ever proven. You've never seen the earth move but you see the sun moon and stars move daily. Only in Babylonian style or mystery basically Babylon religion does the sun become the center of the solar system. Yes, they're even carvings on the walls uh in Babylon and Syria that demonstrate that with the nine planets, a solar system. That's their religion that's a religious view it's not science no one has ever seen such.
1:20:00 No, we are not flat earthers just as we do not call ourselves the very negative term in the bible of Christian. No thank you.

As ever with Tim he prefers deflection over transparency. He teaches a doctrine that is very controversial and then says he doesn't teach it. It's the same dishonesty we have come to except from Timothy Jay Schwab who is The God Culture who is 100% an anti-trinitarian.

Retards in the Government 418

It's your weekly compendium of foolishness and corruption in the Philippine government.

https://www.gmanetwork.com/news/topstories/metro/946228/2-cops-arrested-over-public-disturbance-in-qc-bar/story/

The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) on Thursday said two cops were arrested for causing public disturbance and damaging some properties inside a bar on Commonwealth Avenue, Barangay Holy Spirit early Wednesday morning.

“This prompted the complainants to report the incident, leading to a swift response from Police Station 14 and the subsequent arrest of the involved officers,” the QCPD said in a statement.

“Their firearms have been confiscated, as the case has been turned over to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU) for further investigation and the filing of appropriate charges,” it added.

Citing initial investigation, the QCPD said the two cops were allegedly under the influence of alcohol.

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) in a separate statement said the corporal and patrolman are currently assigned at the Warrant Section of Holy Spirit Police Station.

“The two suspects…entered the KTV bar around 1:00 a.m. allegedly under the influence of alcohol. Witnesses stated that they ordered multiple bottles of beer and began to create disturbances shortly after,” the NCRPO said.

“At approximately 2:00 a.m., the officers reportedly began throwing ice cubes at waiters and other customers. In the course of their unruly behavior, they damaged a glass painting frame and their actions caused alarm and panic that forced customers to vacate the premises,” it added.

Complaints for alarm and scandal as well as malicious mischief were filed against the two cops, according to the NCRPO.

The QCPD stressed that misconduct, abuse of authority, and any behavior unbecoming of a police officer will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

If the allegations are proven true, the QCPD said criminal and administrative sanctions will be pursued without delay.

“The QCPD stands resolute in its commitment to uphold the highest standards of integrity, discipline, and professionalism,” the QCPD said.

“We assure the public that we will take decisive action to maintain the trust entrusted to us, ensuring full accountability and zero tolerance for misconduct within our ranks,” it added.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) said it has promptly taken action on a road incident involving a police officer in Manila earlier this week.

In a statement Friday, PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil said he has ordered the Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (IMEG) to investigate the cop who allegedly poked his gun at a motorcycle rider during a road altercation along F. Manalo Street, Barangay 897, Punta, Sta. Ana, Manila on May 12.

“The PNP takes this matter seriously. While our personnel face real risks in the line of duty, there is no excuse for behavior that undermines public trust. We have already initiated administrative action against the police officer involved, and we will see this through with full transparency and fairness,” Marbil said.

Initial findings revealed that the police officer involved was assigned to a polling center in Manila as part of covert security operations during the election period.

The traffic confrontation with the civilian rider escalated, prompting the officer to draw his firearm.

Responding police personnel assigned to the Police Assistance Desk at the polling center immediately intervened. Both parties were later brought to the barangay for settlement.

The police officer has been reassigned to the District Personnel Holding and Accounting Section of the Manila Police District. He has been disarmed pending the results of the administrative proceedings.

The officer has been formally charged with grave misconduct and conduct unbecoming of a police officer.

Marbil also reminded all motorists to exercise patience, discipline, and composure while on the road, especially during traffic encounters.

“The Filipino people deserve a police force that is professional, disciplined, and committed to protecting their rights at all times,” Marbil said.

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has been tasked to look into the alleged mismanagement that resulted in PHP118 million missing from the Ilocos Norte Electric Cooperative's (INEC) retirement fund.

This came after the current INEC management filed a syndicated estafa complaint against six former and current officials of the cooperative accused of mishandling the fund.

In an interview on Friday, INEC acting general manager Cipriano Martinez said the complaint was filed with the NBI on Thursday.

Martinez said he was accompanied by National Electrification Administration (NEA) administrator Antonio Mariano Almeda in filing the complaint.

"We will spare no effort to ensure that all INEC officials involved in the mismanagement of the retirement fund shall be held accountable for the mishandling and/or misuse of the retirement funds of INEC employees who have dedicated years of their life in the service of INEC," the new INEC management said in a statement.

In May last year, the cooperative's Retirement Committee started its own investigation into the utilization and management of the Employee’s Retirement Benefits Program (ERBP) fund upon the discovery that some PHP118 million was missing.

As of this posting, the new INEC management has declined to identify the six former and present officials that were named respondents in the complaint pending results of the investigation.

Republic Act 4917, enacted in 1967 during the time of then-President Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr., states that retirement funds cannot be utilized for any other purposes whatsoever as it is specifically intended for the retirement benefits of employees.

Several current and former Ilocos Norte Electric Cooperative's are being investigated over missing money from the retirement fund.

Police are hunting a barangay chairman and two barangay tanods or watchmen for allegedly killing a Siberian Husky in the barangay dog pound in Barangay Bungahan here on Saturday night, May 17.

Police identified the suspects as Elmer, 50, barangay chairman, and barangay tanods Rodolfo and Edison.
Investigation said that the Siberian Husky escaped from his cage and entered the house of Elmer and bit one of his roosters.
The suspect saw the incident and hit the dog with a wooden stick to force him to release the rooster.
Elmer called his watchmen to bring the injured dog to the barangay dog pound for safekeeping.
The barangay tanods informed his owner, Alma, 42, that he is dead and she must claim his body.
Alma reported the incident to the police and took him to a veterinarian who examined him and found out that he died after he was hit multiple times with a hard object.
The specific cause of death was blunt trauma to the left lateral area of the head or eye area that resulted in severe hemorrhage and proptosis of the eyeball.
Police are preparing a case against Elmer for violating Republic Act 10631 or the Philippine Animal Welfare Act of 2013.

https://newsinfo.inquirer.net/2061985/numerous-police-commanders-now-under-probe-ncrpo

“Numerous” police commanders are now under investigation for failing to supervise patrollers, who reportedly failed to supervise police assistance desks (PADs), among others, in various districts within Metro Manila, according to the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).

The NCRPO said the probe stemmed from inspections it conducted geared toward assessing the presence of police personnel and their operational readiness, as well as compliance with deployment directives in areas frequented by foreign nationals.

It added that the surprise red teaming operations were conducted from May 17 to 18, covering all five police districts under the National Capital Region Security Quadrant, per the directive of Regional Director Major General Anthony Aberin.

According to Aberin, they were able to find unmanned PADs, abandoned posts, and a lack of police presence in high-traffic areas. Some patrol officers were also using their phones on duty, including playing games.

“Numerous police commanders are now under investigation for failing to supervise their patrollers who were found with the aforementioned deficiencies,” Aberin said.

“Those who will be found remiss will be immediately removed from their posts, following due process of law. On the other hand, personnel who were found absent in posts, those unjustifiably using their cellular phones while on duty, and those with violations also face investigation,” he added.

“We must step up with our crime prevention and solution efforts. I expect police commanders to be present, aware, and accountable for their men. Discipline begins at the top,” he further said.

In areas with unmanned posts, Aberin said he had already instructed that junior officers from mobile units be deployed to temporarily fill them to ensure police visibility.

Aberin added that these inspections “will not be a one-time effort but will become part of standard operational procedure” of NCRPO.

“Let this serve as a warning and an example—complacency and failure of supervision will be met with the heaviest penalties. Discipline begins at the top, and accountability must be absolute,” he said.

A Muntinlupa policeman was arrested for gun violation by operatives from the Philippine National Police’s Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group-National Capital Region Field Unit on May 19.

In a statement, Muntinlupa police chief Col. Robert Domingo said the police officer was arrested in a buy-bust operation at his home in Lakeshore Drive, Barangay Tunasan, Muntinlupa in violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) and Omnibus Election Code.

In the original statement uploaded on May 19 on Facebook, the Muntinlupa police identified the personnel involved as Aaron. The Muntinlupa police revised the post and omitted the name.

“The Muntinlupa City Police Station will not tolerate nor condone any wrongdoing of our personnel,” said Domingo.

He said the policeman "chose to veer in a different and illegal path which is contrary to our RD, NCRPO's Triple ‘A’ program and 5 Guiding Principles despite constant reminder and due guidance from his superiors. Hence, he has to face the consequences of his illegal acts.”

Domingo said, “The Muntinlupa City Police Station will never get weary in reminding and reiterating to our personnel to do what is right and just all the time. Despite this isolated incident, we remain committed and steadfast to our mandate to serve and protect the citizenry.”

Malacañang said Wednesday that Overseas Workers Welfare Administration deputy administrator Emma Sinclair was also removed from her post over the alleged anomalous land acquisition deal entered into by former OWWA administration Arnell Ignacio.

This was disclosed by Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro during a press briefing.

Castro said Sinclair was sacked from her post due to loss of trust and confidence in relation to the P1.4 billion land acquisition deal.

''Maliban po diyan, mayroon pa pong isa na makakasama, ang deputy [administrator] na si Emma Sinclair, pareho po silang tinanggal. Hindi po sila pinagresign,'' Castro said.

(Aside from [Arnell Ignacio], there is another one, Deputy Administrator Emma Sinclair. Both were fired, they were not asked to resign.)

Castro said this should serve as a warning to all public servants that they will all be fired if they do not fulfill their duties to the public.

Ignacio earlier said he will speak at the proper forum. GMA News Online has reached out to Sinclair for her side but she has yet to reply as of posting time.

The Department of Migrant Workers earlier said it is gathering more information about the anomalous deal, which was supposedly not authorized by the OWWA board, before filing appropriate cases against those involved.

The P1.4-billion land purchase deal under Ignacio’s leadership was supposed to be for a halfway house or dormitory-type accommodation of overseas Filipino workers to be located near the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1, OWWA administrator Patricia Yvonne "PJ" Caunan.

The DMW is still reviewing whether the project should push through or not, Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac said.

The mayor of South Upi, Maguindanao del Sur and his wife were arrested for their alleged involvement in the killing of his vice mayor in August last year.

Authorities made the arrest in Barangay Making in Parang, Maguindanao del Norte on Tuesday, according to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in a statement on Wednesday.

The arrest stemmed from a warrant for murder, frustrated murder, and attempted murder issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 27 in Cotabato City last Monday, the CIDG said.

“In November 2024, the SITG (special investigation task group) filed criminal complaints… against 12 accused, including the mayor and his wife, for their alleged participation as alleged ‘masterminds’ in the planning and orchestration of the ambush,” the police unit further detailed.

Although the CIDG did not name the two suspects, the incumbent mayor of South Upi is Reynalbert Insular.

The CIDG did not give further details about the 10 other individuals accused.

The ambush took place in Sitio Linao in Barangay Pandan, South Upi on the early evening of August 2, killing Vice Mayor Roldan Benito and his aide Weng Marcos.

The incident also left Benito’s wife, Analyn, a barangay chairperson, and his 11-year-old child injured with gunshot wounds.

The mayor of South Upi, Maguindanao del Sur and his wife were arrested for their alleged involvement in the killing of his vice mayor in August last year.

The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) on Wednesday identified a police officer as one of the suspects in the theft of a motorcycle on Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue (Edsa).

The officer and one other individual — who were not named by the authorities – allegedly flagged a motorcycle rider, took him aside, handcuffed him and stole his motorcycle, cellphone, and cash last Saturday evening, the QCPD said in a statement.

“One of [the suspects] has been identified as a uniformed PNP (Philippine National Police) personnel assigned at the Northern Police District Personnel Holding and Accounting Section… He has been positively identified and will face appropriate criminal and administrative charges,” the QCPD detailed.

“Concerted efforts are being made to retrieve CCTV (closed circuit television) footage along Edsa and nearby areas to trace the suspects’ movements, identify possible accomplices, and determine if there are other victims of similar schemes,” it added.

The incident took place near the Edsa interchange with the Northern Luzon Expressway (NLEX) in Barangay Unang Sigaw, Quezon City.

The officer and the other suspect were aboard a black sports utility vehicle before flagging the motorcycle rider along Edsa. The rider was identified only as “Allan.”

https://www.gmanetwork.com/news/topstories/nation/946928/two-star-general-rape-attempted-rape-complaints-two-soldiers/

A two-star general in the Armed Forces of the Philippines is facing complaints for rape and attempted rape after he allegedly took advantage of two soldiers in his room after they had drinks earlier.

According to Saleema Refran's exclusive report on "24 Oras," CCTV footage showed that a group of soldiers, including the general, arrived at the San Fernando Air Base in Lipa, Batangas, on the night of January 29.

Another clip showed two soldiers coming out of the senior officer’s quarters crying. Their lieutenant can be seen attending to them, and that’s when the two reported the incident.

The complainants said in their affidavit that the general asked them to sleep in his room, which they did not take seriously at first. That’s when the alleged sexual assault took place.

The star-ranked officer denied the allegations against him. He said that the sexual assault was impossible to happen as the complainants could “overpower” him.

“Complainants are strong, able-bodied military officers who could easily overpower me…They are not under duress nor did I use a firearm or any bladed weapon, nor I use force, threat, or intimidation against their will,” the general’s counter-affidavit further read.

“They could have easily left my room, as they had free access to the door or used force to prevent the unlawful act,” he added.

The complainants lawyer said rape could happen even to men.

“Yung pang-aabuso, yung panghahalay, pwede siyang mangyari kahit kanino. Pwedeng mangyari sa babae, pwedeng mangyari sa lalaki, pwedeng mangyari kahit sa mga matitipunong mga sundalo,”  said lawyer Nico Robert Martin.

(The abuse and rape, it can happen to anyone. It can happen to women, to men, and even to the strongest soldiers.)

Martin said the complainants were suffering from depression.

"They are undergoing counseling. But you know, bilang sundalo, kasi trained sila para maging isang sundalo, pumapasok sila. Araw-araw silang nag-report for duty, nagtatrabaho sila," Martin said.

(But they are trained soldiers. Every day, they report for duty and they work.)

The complainants availed free legal assistance from the Supreme Court's Unified Legal Service.

The general has been relieved from his post and placed under the restrictive custody of the Philippine Air Force.

Investigation from the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ Office of Ethical Standards and Public Accountability found a prima facie evidence that would entail the general to face pre-trial investigation.

Meanwhile, the initial probe findings are already with AFP Chief-of-Staff General Romeo Brawner Jr.

“For review na po siya and signature po ng ating chief-of-staff. Siya rin po ang ating convening authority. And the case is currently awaiting his approval for the referral doon sa ating general court-martial,” said AFP spokesperson Colonel Francel Margareth Padilla.

(It’s already for review and for the signature of our chief-of-staff. He will also be the convening authority. And the case is currently awaiting his approval for the referral to our court-martial.)

“Yun pong ating accused will face trial under Articles of War 96, ito pong conduct unbecoming of an officer and a gentleman. And [Articles of War] 97, conduct prejudicial to good order and military discipline,” she added.

(The accused will face trial under Articles of War 96, or the conduct unbecoming of an officer and a gentleman; and Articles of War 97, conduct prejudicial to good order and military discipline.)

“Zero tolerance po tayo for any form of misconduct such as this po,” Padilla also said.

(We implement zero tolerance to any form of misconduct such as this.)

Coronavirus Lockdown: COVID-19 Cases In PH On Downward Trend, Rising COVID-19 Cases in SEA, and More!

More news about how the COVID-19 pandemic in the Philippines is being handled by the public and the government.

The Department of Health says COVID-19 cases are on a downward trend.

COVID-19 cases in the Philippines are still on the decline, the Department of Health said on Saturday, after reports of an uptick in infections in other parts of Asia.

According to media reports, COVID-19 cases have increased in Singapore, Thailand, and Hong Kong.

However, the DOH said that there is no cause for alarm at this time.

''We are actively coordinating through established mechanisms like the ASEAN. This gives us verified information, boosting readiness even as we see no cause for alarm,'' the DOH said in a statement.

As of May 3, 2025, the DOH reported that the number of COVID-19 cases and fatalities in the Philippines has decreased by 87% from 2024.

Only 1,774 COVID-19 cases have been documented in the country so far this year, a significant drop from the 14,074 cases recorded in 2024. The current case fatality rate stands at 1.13%.

The DOH also highlighted a downward trend in reported cases in recent weeks. Between April 6 and 19, there were 65 cases, down from 71 cases during the March 23 to April 5 period.

The Philippine Society for Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, Inc., meanwhile, said hospital infection control departments have not observed an increase in COVID-19 consultations or admissions.

"PSMID emphasizes that various respiratory infections can cause symptoms similar to those of COVID-19. Some of these infections may be prevented by vaccination," it said.

''We should all remain vigilant, continue practicing preventive measures, and maintain healthy lifestyles to reduce the risk of respiratory infections.''

The DOH also urged the public to adhere to these basic health protocols to prevent the spread of not only COVID-19 but other communicable diseases as well:

  • Wear face masks in healthcare facilities
  • Stay home when sick
  • Cover mouth when coughing or sneezing
  • Regularly wash hands with soap and water
  • Seek early medical consultation for symptoms

“We are committed to keeping the public informed and will provide timely updates should the situation evolve,” the DOH said.

Hasn't this been the case for the past five years? Isn't this why there is no pandemic? How is this news?

Despite this reduction in cases the DOH says they are monitoring COVID-19 cases in Southeast Asia.

The Department of Health (DOH) assured there is "no cause for alarm" despite the reported surge in coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases in some Southeast Asian countries.

“We are actively coordinating through established mechanisms like the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Nations). This gives us verified information, boosting readiness even as we see no cause for alarm,” it said in a statement on Saturday.

Hong Kong and Singapore earlier noted a surge in Covid-19 cases.

In Singapore, the latest data showed that the estimated number of Covid-19 cases in the week ending May 3 increased to 14,000 from 11,100 in the previous week.

Its Ministry of Health said there is no indication that the variants circulating are more transmissible or cause more severe disease.

Hong Kong, meanwhile, said its "major surveillance indicators" of Covid-19 reached a one-year high, likely due to "changes in predominant circulating strains and declining herd."

Its health agency did not provide the total number of cases but said it recorded 81 severe cases among adults, including 30 "fatal cases" in the past four weeks.

In the Philippines as of May 3, the DOH said it recorded 1,774 Covid-19 this year, about 87 percent down from 14,074 recorded in 2025.

The case fatality rate is 1.13 percent and recent trends also indicate a “slight decrease” in reported cases over the past three to four weeks.

From 71 cases in the week of March 23 to April 5 this year, the number of Covid-19 cases in the country decreased to 65 cases April 6 to 19.

“We are committed to keeping the public informed and will provide timely updates should the situation evolve,” it said.

“We encourage everyone to stay informed through official DOH channels, and continue practicing the same preventive measures that protect from other diseases,” it added.

The DOH reminded the public anew to always wear face masks in healthcare facilities, stay home when sick, practice proper respiratory hygiene, and seek early consultation for symptoms.

Wow. The DOH says the public should always be wearing face masks, at certain times of course. It's not like before the pandemic people weren't wearing face masks. They were because the air quality is that bad,

Another Filipino has turned a pandemic hobby into a career.

What started as a simple hobby to pass the time during the pandemic has now grown into one of Baguio City's promising ventures in urban agriculture. Mark Adriel Sison, the owner of DomeGarden Hydroponics, never imagined that a casual project born out of boredom in 2020 would one day supply fresh, high-quality lettuce to some of the city's well-known restaurants, including Korean Palace. Now four years into the business, DomeGarden stands as a model of innovation, sustainability, and community-driven farming.

DomeGarden Hydroponics takes pride in offering insecticide- and pesticide-free produce, something Mark believes is becoming increasingly important to consumers who are seeking cleaner and safer food options. Amid traditional farms that rely heavily on chemicals, DomeGarden stands out as a healthy, eco-friendly alternative. Mark highlights that there is a high demand for such products, especially from restaurants that prioritize food quality and safety.

Beyond producing crops, DomeGarden is also deeply rooted in education and advocacy. Mark generously shares his knowledge with anyone interested in hydroponics, from casual visitors to students and even individuals sent by government agencies, like the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

His efforts extend to his own community, a mining neighborhood, where he showcases how hydroponic farming can serve as a sustainable livelihood. Through community outreach and technology demonstrations, DomeGarden has introduced many to the profitability and environmental benefits of this modern farming technique.

I have documented many stories like this. Let us all admire him for his tenacity for growing lettuce.

A Laguna data center has landed a Singapore client. This goes back to the pandemic.

First Gen Corp., a Lopez-led renewables producer, has started energizing a Singaporean company’s data center in Laguna province with clean power.

Top officials from First Gen and Singapore’s Digital Edge Holdings Pte. Ltd., a developer and operator of data centers across Asia, had a formal signing event for the power supply agreement in Ortigas City on Wednesday.

The two-year pact, which entails 2.1 megawatt (MW) of renewable energy capacity, covers Digital Edge’s NARRA 1 data center. The facility is located in the Laguna Technopark in Biñan.

According to the Filipino firm, the electricity would be sourced from the Pantabangan-Masiway and Casecnan hydro-electric complex in Nueva Ecija.

First Gen chief customer engagement officer Carlo Vega acknowledged the growing presence of data centers in the country, given their crucial role in digital transformation.

Data centers have been on the rise as they cater to businesses’ large-scale information and technology operations, supporting the massive digital shift particularly highlighted during the pandemic.

“The need for data centers is growing, and operating these requires large-scale, uninterrupted power with the lowest possible carbon emissions,” Vega said.

For Digital Edge Philippines country manager Vic Barrios, teaming up with First Gen complements its efforts for sustainable operations.

“We are proud to operate a world-class data center that meets the growing demand for digital infrastructure while upholding the highest standards of environmental responsibility. By design, NARRA1 is already one of the most energy- and water-efficient data centers in the region,” Barrios said.

First Gen, a subsidiary of conglomerate First Philippine Holdings Corp., is the leading power generation firm in the local market, with 3,668 MW of total installed capacity from a portfolio of 33 power facilities.

Its renewable energy portfolio includes nearly 300 MW of hydro power generation, 160 MW from wind and solar facilities, and about 1,200 MW of geothermal generating capacity.

But can't this be handled in Singapore? Why look to the Philippines to handle your data needs?

During the pandemic the Bayanihan spirit shined forth.  Now a Portland, Oregon Filipino community center has arisen to bring that ideal to the USA.

In the Philippines, there's a concept known as bayanihan, which refers to a spirit of unity and cooperation that's common in Filipino culture.

The term stems from a physical action the community will take in response to typhoons and floods.

"In the rural areas of the Philippines, a lot of the houses are made up of bamboo and woven nipa, and they're held up by four stilts," explains Nikki De Leon, a first-generation Filipino immigrant. "'Bayanihan' describes this action of the community coming together and lifting the entire house and moving it out of harm's way."

In 2020, Portland's Filipino community saw the pandemic as a disaster that needed a bayanihan response. De Leon headed up those efforts, with the help of community members and nonprofits, like the National Alliance for Filipino Concerns (NAFCON).

"We launched the Bayanihan Response to COVID-19," De Leon says. "[It's] the collective response of the Filipino community to help our 'kababayan,' our fellow countrymen."

What that response looks like is De Leon and the community putting together food kits for families, handing out personal protective equipment and helping people get vaccinated.

These efforts laid the groundwork for the opening of the Filipino Bayanihan Center, located at 1537 SE Morrison St, in 2021.

The center provides a litany of services, including a food pantry, which is stocked with Filipino foods and ingredients.

"Each week, they feature a 'lutong bahay' meal kit, which means homecooked meal," De Leon says.

There's also the Community Health Based Program, where a licensed physician can perform basic medical exams, like blood pressure and blood sugar screenings.

The program also provides natural remedies to sleeping problems and chronic pain, usually in the form of tinctures, which are created in-house.

Over the years, the Filipino Bayanihan Center has expanded its programs to advocate for the rights of migrant workers and engage Filipino youth in the culture.

"It reminds the community of the community-oriented value that is very apparent back in the Philippines," De Leon says.

Most importantly, Filipinos can convene at the center and build relationships.

"Being able to be around other Filipinos, see the culture, be with the community [is] really helpful," says Pedro Neri, a Portland State University student whose mother immigrated from the Philippines.

Neri comes here almost weekly to chat with friends, and their family participates in the center's programs.

The more time they spend here, the more they've discovered what bayanihan looks like in the United States.

"Coming here, I was like, 'oh, this is not just something that exists in the Philippines," Neri says. "[It] is something that can exist here and does exist here."

Why don't they move back to the Philippines if they are looking for a Filipino community? It would be interesting to hear these people's thoughts on Duterte's brutal pandemic lockdown.

The pandemic changed the workforce and made remote work go mainstream. Now the PEZA is set to release new guidelines concerning remote work for businesses under its jurisdiction.

https://business.inquirer.net/525425/peza-rule-on-50-remote-work-out-soon

The Philippine Economic Zone Authority (Peza) is set to release new guidelines this month for businesses under its jurisdiction, allowing them to keep up to 50 percent of their workforce under work from home (WFH) setup without losing their fiscal incentives.

Peza director general Tereso Panga said the guidelines giving the 50-percent WFH flexibility would clarify and streamline remote work policies within its economic zones.

“And if they’re [located]outside [our economic zones], they can even do 100 percent [WFH]. So, we need not be as strict as before with the guidelines,” Panga told reporters on the sidelines of the launch of their sustainability reporting program in Pasay late Tuesday afternoon.

Peza, one of the investment promotions agencies of the Department of Trade and Industry, requires registered firms to conduct their business operations within designated economic zones to qualify for tax incentives.

However, at the height of the lockdowns during the COVID-19 pandemic, employees of these registered firms were allowed to work remotely as a health and safety measure.

The remote work allowance eventually ended in 2022, with the interagency Fiscal Incentives Review Board issuing a decision in September of that year allowing Peza-registered firms to transfer their registration to the Board of Investments (BOI). This move allowed firms to continue implementing WFH arrangements while remaining eligible for tax incentives, as the BOI does not impose the same location-based restrictions as Peza.

The 50-percent WFH threshold is in line with the provisions of the Corporate Recovery and Tax Incentives for Enterprises to Maximize Opportunities for Reinvigorating the Economy (CREATE MORE) Act.

Peza-accredited firms enjoy a number of fiscal and nonfiscal incentives, including income tax holidays, special corporate income tax rates, or enhanced deductions, among others.

According to records from the government investment promotions agency, more than 440 registered companies applied to transfer their registration to the BOI following the decision.

To date, more than 4,380 registered companies are operating within Peza’s network of at least 423 economic zones.

Being a member of PEZA saves on taxes while having a remote workforce saves on expenses. That is a fine line to walk. Wherever the savings is the most will surely determine how these businesses react.
