Crying Filipino Politicians

Remember when the CHR found out the PNP had a secret hiding cell? But Chief Bato was ok with it.

Then he was forced to recognise it was illegal.

Those were simpler times. Now he's a blubbering cry baby because his men killed a young man in the war on drugs and the Senate wants answers.

Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa broke down anew during Tuesday’s Senate hearing, asserting that there was never a policy in the PNP to kill, even innocent individuals.
“Magpakatamay kami para sa inosenteng tao. Mahirap naman sabihin natin na may policy na malawakang pagpatay. Andyan si Lord, nakikita niya. Alam niya. I’m willing to go back to Davao ‘pag na-prove niyo,” Dela Rosa said while in tears.
(We are willing to die for the innocent. It is not correct to say that there is a policy for widespread killing. God is there, He sees. He knows. I am willing to be reassigned to Davao again if proven otherwise.)
Bato is so full of it and he knows it.  Listen to what his boss says.

Why do Filipino politicians tend to break down in tears and appeal to God during senate hearings?

Filipino politicians and bureaucrats don't know the first thing about being public servants.  They only serve their pockets and when they get caught then they well up with tears and cry out, "Only God knows and only God can judge me."  As if the people can't see right through their nonsense.

No amount of tears will restore stolen money or lost lives or lost confidence in the government.  But if these people were to do their jobs fairly and consistently within the bounds of the law then maybe over a long period of time trust in the government and stability would emerge and the Philippines could begin the transition into the modern world.
