Hi, My Name is...47

It's not easy being a student. The stress of having to pass classes in order to secure a future can be a strain on anyone. And if that's not enough it seems certain elements of society are doing all they can to make sure you don't survive to graduate.

Hi, my name is being withheld because I am a minor. I was in my room working on my Learning Modules. All of a sudden someone walked inside my house, walked into my room, and shot me dead.

That was the story my dad gave the police but the real story is my drug involved brother accidentally dropped his gun and it went off killing me. Now my father and aunt and brother will be facing charges.

A 20-year-old student in Masbate City died from several gunshot wounds after he was shot by a 27-year-old barangay watchman allegedly for being noisy.

Investigation revealed that the student was at his classmate's boarding house in Barangay Espinosa when the watchman passed by.

Because he was loud, the student reportedly caught the attention of the watchman who was allegedly drunk at that time.

The watchman allegedly got upset and stayed close to the boarding house, watching the movements inside. When he reportedly saw the student go down to the ground floor, he went inside the boarding house and followed him to the restroom. There, he shot the student several times.

"By chance, Sir, when they were inside [the boarding house], this victim went down to do CR or there in the comfort room, just so the suspect was there and he was waiting for him so he followed him there in the comfort room and that's when he was shot," Police Lt. Col. Ariel Neri, the chief of police in Masbate City, said.

Hi, my name is being withheld because I am a minor. My 19-year old boyfriend becomes jealous of me and pushed me into a blackboard. After he did that another student punched him and they got into a fight. I have been able to return to class and even though my father wanted to initially settle he still wants to press charges.

A fistfight broke out inside a high school in Mandaue City after a Grade 11 student allegedly pushed his minor ex-girlfriend into a blackboard on Monday, November 6, 2023.

In an interview with local radio station dyHP, the school principal said that the incident took place at around 7:30 a.m. on Monday after the flag ceremony.

The principal, Rene Petancio, said that the fight broke out shortly after the students entered their classroom while the teacher was not in the room yet.

He said that a 19-year-old boy suddenly grabbed his ex-girlfriend, who is 17-years-old, and pushed her head into a blackboard in front of their other classmates.

After this, another male, classmate who was watching by the side, punched the assailant to get back at what he did to the girl. The two students then engaged in a fistfight.

The incident was captured in a video that was posted online.

Petancio said that after they learned of the incident, the students were called into the Senior High Coordinator’s Office where they were interviewed individually. He added that the parents were also called.

According to Petancio, they found out that the cause of the fight was jealousy of the girl’s ex-boyfriend. The other involved student, he clarified, was not aware of the two’s relationship and only wanted to get revenge for his classmate.

Petancio said that as part of their disciplinary action as punishment for the violence committed, they would be scheduling another meeting with the 19-year-old student to talk about his suspension.

He said that the student had not gone back to school since the incident while the female victim continued to attend her classes.

In a seperate interview with the victim’s father, he said that even after he agreed to settle, he still planned to file a police complaint against the male student for what he did to his daughter.

He said that they would be sending the minor for a medical examination to make sure that she did not suffer major internal injuries.

The father also said that his daughter told him that the ex-boyfriend allegedly got jealous after she posted a picture with a boy on the background on her social media.

Hi, my name is Juana Mae Maslang. My uncle found me dead with blood splattered everywhere after a robber broke inside and killed me.

Policemen arrested on Saturday a man and his live-in partner in Pulungbulu village in this city for the death of an 18-year-old female student.

On Dec. 14, the body of Juana Mae Maslang was found by her uncle inside her family’s residence, also in Pulungbulu.

Police said the teenage student was alone in their house between 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

The victim’s body had several stab wounds.

Police quoted the victim’s uncle as saying that he was about to ask for food from the victim’s family when he noticed that the backdoor was open. He then went back to his residence and told the victim’s mother about it.

When the mother entered the house, she was shocked to find Maslang lying on the floor inside the bedroom, and blood was splattered everywhere.

The family rushed the victim to the hospital, but doctors pronounced her dead.

Police believed that robbery was the suspects’ motive because a mobile phone and a wristwatch were missing.

A follow-up operation based on the testimonies of residents in the area led to the arrest of Val Cahanding, 22, and Japanie Torbeles, of legal age, who live in the same village.

The Angeles City police said they found two t-shirts with blood stains and a kitchen inside the couple’s residence. It has requested that the crime laboratory subject the blood to a DNA examination to determine if it matches that of the victim.

Colonel Juritz Rara, city police director, said they had already brought the suspects to the city prosecutor’s office for an inquest. He said the prosecutor had recommended the couple’s continued detention.

On Sunday, Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr offered a P50,000 reward for information leading to the identification and arrest of those responsible for Maslang’s death.
