Coronoavrius Lockdown: Miss Gay COVID-19, Coco the Parrot, and More!

More news and stories from the lockdown.

People are bored and sad being cooped up in there homes so one man decided to bring them a little bit of laughter.

https://cebudailynews.inquirer.net/308195/meet-the-winner-of-the-first-online-miss-gay-covid-19-from-tipolo-mandaue
Lyccah, a freelance makeup artist from Barangay Tipolo in Mandaue City, bested nine other candidates in the online pageant, the first in Cebu and probably the rest of the country.
Lyccah, 28, received P10, 000 cash after he emerged victorious after the two-hour competition.
“I was very nervous during the announcement because the other contestants did their best too, I cried when I knew I won and winning will be a great help for me and my family,” Lyccah said.
Jay-R Yosores, the pageant organizer, told CDN Digital that Monday was a night of laughter and wits as the contestants battle their way to get the coveted crown.
Yosoresto said he organized the online pageant to spread laughter and help some of the members of the  LGBTQIA+ who rely on doing events and pageants for their livelihood.
Lyccah, who has been joining pageants since he was still 13 years old, said that the competition made him nervous but he was determined to give it his all.
He was especially after the P10, 000 cash prize that will surely address the needs of his family, who like him, were unable to work while they remain under home quarantine.
“I was honestly running out of funds and my savings were running low due to the lockdown and so I saw this as a way to earn while having fun and safe here in our home,” said Lyccah.
There are better names to pick for your pageant.  How about Miss Quarantine?  Who wants to be Miss COVID 19?

Have you been using this quarantine time to learn any new skills? You can watch Youtube and learn how to do anything. The department of Agriculture wants Filipinos to learn agricultural skills.
Evangelista said anyone who has Internet connection could avail of the courses being offered such as crops, livestock, sustainable agriculture, social technology, marine, and fisheries.

“There is no age limit or educational requirement,” he said, adding that those who complete the courses will get certificates.

Aside from the certificate, Evangelista said the skills and knowledge that online students would acquire are “very useful” in starting their own backyard or urban gardening or farming.
Backyard gardening and farming? Who in this country has a backyard? Everyone is cramped together with no yard to speak of. Unless you live out in the country. Maybe that's a little too general but I am speaking from experience.

The Philippine embassy in Libya has a new addition to their "embazoo."

His name is Coco which is short for conflict and coronavirus. He must be a real conversationalist!

Many people are still waiting for their SAP money. Last week a man died walking home for lunch after waiting all morning for his money.  This week a man who waited for his money late into the night was arrested for violating the curfew.
https://www.gmanetwork.com/news/news/metro/737316/man-who-received-cash-aid-at-midnight-nabbed-amid-addition-hills-lockdown/story/
A construction worker was on his way home at midnight after hours of waiting to claim his cash subsidy from the government when he was nabbed for violating the hard lockdown imposed over his barangay.
According to Emil Sumangil's report on "24 Oras", the man waited all night to claim the financial assistance in Barangay Addition Hills, Mandaluyong City.
“Ang inaasahan lang namin, ‘yung ayuda. Tapos pagbigay ng ayuda, alanganin na. Alas dose po ng madaling araw, ano pong mabibili namin no’n? Walang wala po kami,” the resident said.
(“All we can hope for is the relief. After giving the help, beware. At twelve o'clock in the morning, what can we buy? We have nothing, ”the resident said.)
Damned if you, damned if you don't! Especially if you are a senior citizen.

https://www.gmanetwork.com/news/news/metro/737459/94-year-old-caloocan-woman-denied-cash-aid-over-application-failure/story/
Despite queuing since dawn for her social amelioration aid at a Bagong Silang, Caloocan City payout center, a 94-year-old woman still ended up with nothing as she had failed to fill out a SAP form.
"I have no family, my children, those who have died. I am left alone," said Magna Aparece in Mark Salazar's Friday report on 24 Hours.
Aparece was not given a SAP form previously, and she fell in line to get one.
Fernando could do nothing but list Aparece's case for the next distribution. However, she could not promise that Aparece would receive her SAP any time soon.
Many in the payout center also fell in line as early as dawn.
Denver, a construction worker who fell in line as early as 3 a.m., was exhausted and was suffering badly in the heat.
"Hirap na po eh, kailangan na po eh, wala na pong pambili pangkonsumo eh. No choice po eh, ganoon talaga eh, hindi nakapagtrabaho eh," said Denver.
The city social welfare department arrived with the cash before 11 a.m.
Construction worker Albert was among the first who was given P8,000 in aid, after falling in line three times previously.
"Pagkain po sa bahay, bigas tsaka mga kailangan tsaka gatas po ng anak ko," Albert said.
These kinds of stories make the government look incompetent. Such a mess. Hopefully she has received her money by now.

Lots of Pinoys overseas are having to deal with COVID-19. These Pinoys in Ethiopia constructed a disinfection cabin.

https://www.pna.gov.ph/articles/1102388
In the continuing battle against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), a team of Filipino expatriate engineers and teachers in Amhara Region in north-central Ethiopia innovated a disinfection cabin for exposed clothing and skin that may be Covid-contaminated.

Installed at the main entrance of Wollo University-Kombolcha Institute of Technology (WU-KIOT), the cabin uses four misting devices that aim for whole-body coverage, and a disinfectant mist combined with liquid disinfectant and pressurized air.

To use, a person enters the cabin, turns around for a few seconds to ensure complete body disinfection and exits the other side of the disinfection cabin.

WU-KIOT endeavors to get the disinfection cabin accredited by the Ethiopian Ministry of Health.

Other Pinoys are working abroad as nurses on the frontline.

https://www.gmanetwork.com/news/lifestyle/familyandrelationships/737541/family-of-pinoy-nurse-in-uk-watches-him-flatline-in-video-call-as-he-succumbs-to-covid-1/story/
Kenneth, who worked as a cardiac research nurse in the hospital, was deployed in the frontlines in the first week of April. Later, he started to have colds and a fever.
When Kenneth's symptoms worsened, he was intubated in the hospital's ICU.
Late April, Via was told that, "Kenneth is dying. It would be in his best interest na we'll let him go."
And his family made the difficult decision of turning off his life support. Through a video call, they watched Kenneth's final hour until he passed away.
Their final goodbyes were caught on video, and the mother could be heard weeping and saying her final thanks .
"You are such a blessing to me and to our family, 'Nak," she said as she wept. "Thank you for everything 'Nak, thank you."
When he finally flatlined and the video call ended, Ezel said the whole family just cried.
Watching your loved one die over a video call must be heart wrenching. It also might be the new normal.

The liquor ban continues to be violated by would-be bootleggers.

https://www.pna.gov.ph/articles/1102361
A police officer assigned at the Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 (Western Visayas) Intelligence Division was caught transporting boxes of liquor at a quarantine checkpoint in Cabugao village, Santa Barbara town, Iloilo on Friday night.
A police report said Staff Sgt. Paul Pingoy, 39, along with a certain Adolfo Patiam, 30, both of San Sebastian village, Sarbara, carried 30 boxes of Tanduay Rhum in a grey Innova car.
Each box contains a dozen of 750-milliliter liquor which was allegedly from Muelle Loney, the report said.
That is 360 bottles of Tanduay Rhum. It's great that the lockdown has created new crimes like violating curfew and violating the liquor ban.

One common complaint about Philippine cities is the distinct lack of pedestrian infrastructure, namely sidewalks. But with the new normal due to the pandemic people will have to walk and so one city says they will be building more sidewalks.

https://www.pna.gov.ph/articles/1102420
The local government of Pasig is now working on the additional pop-up bike lanes and sidewalk extensions within the city.
In a Facebook post, the Pasig City Transportation Department said local residents could expect road works starting Sunday (May 10).
"We are introducing bike lanes and extending sidewalks starting in the following areas: Market Avenue (Pasig Mega Market Area), Caruncho Avenue (around the City Hall Complex), and Amang Rodriguez Avenue (East Bank to Marcos Highway)," the post reads.
Earlier, the local transport department declared "biking" as an essential mode of transportation in the city during the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ), under Executive Order PCG-18, series of 2020, and Sangguniang Panlungsod Resolution No. 59, series of 2020, which was signed on March 25.
"The city department has also been directed to evaluate areas of major pedestrian traffic and public transportation interchange to ensure that walking is a viable means of transportation in the city," the statement added.
It's sad that it takes a pandemic to get the city to invest in bike lanes and sidewalks. The rest of the modern world has already done this.

Hanging out at the beach and drinking a few beers is a nice way to relax. Or it was. Now it's a crime!

https://cebudailynews.inquirer.net/309249/maria-gigante-spanish-bf-face-disobedience-ecq-violation-charges
They did not only defy the prohibition against swimming on the beach while the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) remains in effect.
Maria Gigante and her boyfriend, Javier Filosa Castro, were also found by Moalboal police drinking beer while enjoying the beach in Barangay Basdiot in Moalboal town late on Sunday afternoon, May 10, 2020.
Gigante, a Cebuana model and beauty queen, and Castro were arrested by the police at around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 10, 2020.
The two were immediately placed in an isolation cell at the Moalboal Police Station after police found out that they came from Cebu City where more than a thousand cases of the coronavirus disease were already recorded.
Awe said that the two arrived in their town on board a private vehicle.  They were made to pass through the quarantine checkpoint after they told policemen who were manning the checkpoint that they came from Dalaguete town and were headed for Alegria town for relief goods distribution.
Tourist police, who were patrolling the coastal area of Barangay Basdiot, found the Gigante and Castro.
Good thing they arrested this beauty queen and her Spanish boyfriend for having some fun. That's the new normal. They will also face charges for falsifying documents.

Sit right back and I'll tell you the tale, the tale of a Pinay living a life of which Gilligan would be jealous.
https://www.gmanetwork.com/news/lifestyle/travel/737663/this-pinay-is-living-the-quarantine-island-life-in-siargao/story/
We all have a different enhanced community quarantine experience. People living in posh subdivisions have it different from those living solo in their condos, from those living with an extended family as an urban settler.
And then there is Ara Neyra, who hails from NCR, but chose to live on the beautiful island of Siargao, following the implementation of enhanced community quarantine in Luzon last March.
On the island, Ara has been able to do fun things most people would only get to do on vacation.
She spent her quarantine time freediving, surfing, spear-fishing, picnicking by the bay, and watching movies on a hammock under the palm trees.
A friend, whom she met while traveling, offered to let her stay for free. But ever the gracious guest, Ara helps around the house.
One day she will be rescued but for now it's surely better than being locked down in Manila.

Another man died while waiting for his SAP money.

https://www.gmanetwork.com/news/news/regions/737759/man-dies-of-heart-attack-while-queuing-for-cash-aid-wife-pleads-to-duterte-for-help/story/
A 53-year-old carpenter passed away after suffering a heart attack while in line to claim his cash subsidy in Taytay, Rizal.
According to a 24 Oras report by Emil Sumangil on Monday, Teodoro Omandam died of myocardial infarction due to the heat while queuing for cash aid for the third time.
Omandam’s wife Estrella Lilia appealed for help from President Rodrigo Duterte following the death of her husband.
"It really hurts," she said. “The hard part of life is this, lockdown. There is no job, it's been a few months, and we haven't received any help yet. ”
Myrna, the victim's niece, also called on authorities to give Omandam's cash aid to his family.
“My uncle died. 'They'll never evaluate it again. Maybe they could just give it to my uncle because he died, ”she urged.
However, Taytay Mayor Joric Gacula said Omandam’s name was not on the list of beneficiaries.
This man waited in line 3 times for his money and ended up dying while waiting but it turned out his name was not even on the list of beneficiaries!

The nationwide lockdowns have left hundreds if not thousands of people stranded far from home. What do yo do when public transportation has stopped and you have to get home? Walk!

https://www.pna.gov.ph/articles/1102561
After walking for four days and quarantined for seven weeks due to movement restrictions, a jobless man finally arrived in this town’s upland village.
Elwin Aralar, 25, said it felt good to be home with his family again despite financial uncertainties after he lost his job as a construction worker that earned him PHP4,500 a week for the past two years.
Aralar and four co-workers from Leyte left their workplace in Binondo, Manila on March 14.
Carrying 20 kg. of rice and a cooking pot, the group initially planned to walk back to their hometowns.
Despite movement restrictions that have taken buses off the road, the desperate men began their way home, willing to risk sealed borders and checkpoints.
“Our fear of suffering starvation and catching the deadly virus was our strongest motivator. We realized that no one (would) help us out in Manila the way they do in our village. We had no money since we did not get our pay that week,” he told reporters in an interview late Monday.
They walked 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day and rested at night in waiting sheds and outside convenience stores. Since they only had rice with them, some policemen and strangers shared some viand with them.
After four days of walking more than 300 km., the group arrived in Del Gallego, Camarines Sur on March 18 where they were denied entry.
The local government placed them in an isolation facility, providing them with food and other basic needs.
The quarantine was only intended for two weeks but lasted nearly two months as the local government had to wait for their test results and coordinate with local officials in Leyte for their smooth travel home.
On Saturday, these men finally arrived in Leyte after the Philippine Army provided transport services for stranded workers.
Aralar’s four companions are from the towns of Sta. Fe and Alangalang.
“It’s better to stay here because I will never go hungry even if I don’t have money, but I doubt that I will be able to find a high-paying job here,” said Aralar, who just completed Grade 5.
These men walked 300 km in 4 days from Manila to Camarines Sur. That is 75 km per day! They were then placed under quarantine for 7 weeks.  Eventually the AFP provided transportation for them to reach home. Thankfully the made it safe. When the economy starts up again hopefully they can reclaim their jobs.

Are you tired of these cops and nurses dancing on Tik-Tok?  Yes you say? You are just jealous you don't have the moves!!

https://cebudailynews.inquirer.net/309422/minglanilla-cops-enforcers-join-tiktok-craze-to-thank-law-abiding-citizens
How can law enforcers manning border checkpoints and implementing the enhanced community quarantine thank the public for heeding the order to stay at home? The answer: Make a Tiktok video about it.
This is what the policemen and traffic enforcers in Minglanilla, a southern Cebu town, where they grooved and participated in the Tiktok craze as their way of celebrating and thanking the public for staying home on Sunday, May 10, 2020.
The video uploaded on that day, showed  the policemen and traffic enforcers dancing along the streets and other areas where they were assigned to celebrate the public’s heeding the stay at home order.
He said that they were happy to observe last Sunday that most of the public were not out and they ended up dancing on the empty streets out of joy.
“We also wanted to entertain the public and send a message that their obedience to the rules are very much appreciated,” said Cesa.
Obedience to the rules are very much appreciated? What if the public started making dance videos thanking the PNP for not extorting them or selling drugs or committing other crimes? You can watch the dancing cops on their Facebook page.

Insurgency: Buried Guns

As everyone knows the Visiting Forces Agreement between the USA and the Philippines is set to expire by August. While some people are looking for ways to salvage this agreement DFA Secretary Teddyboy Locsin says that it shall never return and in the meanwhile the US should continue to arm the Philippines!

https://twitter.com/teddyboylocsin/status/1257484434942521345
We are never going back to the Visiting Forces Agreement but there are other enduring—predictable not just ad hoc—ways of cooperation to give muscle memory to the Mutual Defense Treaty without which we would be an Oriental slave state. Arming us to hold up our end of MDT is one.
Is Teddy unaware that the VFA is what makes the MDT work? He himself said that very thing before the Senate.

https://www.rappler.com/nation/251198-full-text-locsin-speech-impact-assessment-visiting-forces-agreement-termination
Other Philippines-US agreements and modalities of defense and security operation may be rendered inoperative, despite remaining legally valid. Some of these agreements and modalities of cooperation include the Mutual Defense Treaty, which the VFA serves. The Enhanced Cooperation Development Agreement, which gives substance to the commitments in the MDT.
For the MDT, the VFA is the substance that makes it real and makes it work. The EDCA, on the other hand, is hinged on the VFA. There would essentially be no practical use for an EDCA in the absence of the VFA, which is the legal framework for the presence of US military personnel in military exercises and actual military responses under the MDT. Without them the MDT is just a piece of paper. There are contrary views to this.
Corollarily, the MDT is a deterrent to any attack from any power. The termination of the VFA will very likely dilute the US commitment to the MDT.
What good is arming the Philippines without the US military being able to train the AFP to use and maintain the weapons they are being armed with?

https://ph.usembassy.gov/us-delivers-military-equipment-to-the-armed-forces-of-the-philippines/
Purchased by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), this delivery is part of a series of equipment transfers designed to strengthen the AFP’s ability to meet mission requirements.  The weapons arrived at Clark Air Base on July 11, 2019.
Previous equipment transfers have included radios, battle management systems, Unmanned Ariel Systems, night vision devices, and other items.  The United States will also train the AFP to operate, maintain, and employ the equipment.
Without the VFA it won't be impossible but it will be much more difficult for the US military to provide any training to the AFP. It's too bad that Teddy, who was against the termination of the VFA, is now adamant that it is gone forever and is not keen on seeking a solution to retain it.  The training which the VFA allows between the US military and the AFP "significantly enhances the readiness of the Philippine military to conduct a range of missions."

https://foreignpolicy.com/2020/05/01/duterte-trump-visiting-forces-agreement/
Although Duterte in 2016 threatened to kick U.S. forces out, he also clearly benefits from U.S. military assistance in these operations as well—and Manila may need more assistance as 11 of its soldiers were just killed battling the Abu Sayyaf terrorist group in Sulu. The VFA was also essential in allowing the U.S. military to enter the Philippines in 2013 to provide humanitarian assistance and disaster relief following Typhoon Haiyan. U.S. security assistance over the past two decades of VFA existence has been substantial, tallying approximately $1.3 billion, and annual exercises like Balikatan—though canceled this year due to the coronavirus pandemic—significantly enhance the readiness of the Philippine military to conduct a range of missions. Indeed, decades of close interaction between the U.S. and Philippine militaries have resulted in highly favorable views of the United States among the Philippine defense establishment, whereas China is assessed as the top threat.
If the AFP will need the US' assistance anytime soon they sure won't be making that publicly known.

Recently the USA made an offer to sell the Philippines attack helicopters.

https://globalnation.inquirer.net/187478/us-chopper-maker-offers-vipers-to-ph-air-force
American aircraft manufacturer Bell is vying for a contract to supply attack helicopters to the Philippine Air Force (PAF).
Bell Helicopter, a subsidiary of the conglomerate Textron, is offering six brand new units of AH-1Z Viper in response to the PAF’s attack helicopter acquisition program.
Interoperability would be another advantage of the Viper, according to Bell.
“The AH-1Z is the latest attack helicopter for the USMC and the USMC regularly trains and conducts joint exercises with the Philippine armed forces,” Chin said.
He also assured that Bell will work with the US government to offer a “comprehensive total package” that would allow the PAF to maintain the Viper “with little or no supervision once all training is complete.”
Without the VFA it won't matter that the USMC uses the AH-1Z and regularly trains with the AFP. This is not a done deal though and the DND might reject it.  It seems the Philippines wants brand new helicopters.
The Department of National Defense (DND) will evaluate the United States' offer to sell two types of top-of-the-line attack helicopters to the Philippine Air Force (PAF).
DND Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said they will also determine if the attack helicopters being offered by the Americans are brand-new equipment or old ones.
"We will study the US offer. Baka used na naman mea ito (Maybe these are used ones again)," he said in a message to the Philippine News Agency late Tuesday.

Only the best and newest toys for the AFP. After all they don't use weapons they capture from the NPA.

https://newsinfo.inquirer.net/1270693/ph-military-claims-21-high-powered-guns-seized-from-npa-in-mindanao
Following what the military said was a 45-minute gunfight in the town of Siayan, soldiers seized an M-60 machine gun, machine gun parts, three homemade bombs, AK47 magazines, ammunition, bandoliers, personal belongings and communist documents.
In Lupon, Davao de Oro, soldiers from the 66th Infantry Battalion seized an M60 machine gun, three M16 rifles, and one M14 rifle on May 1. The 67th Infantry Battalion, meanwhile, confiscated three M16 rifles and a US M2 Carbine rifle in Baganga, Davao Oriental on May 3.
After an encounter on May 3, the 67th Infantry Battalion found an arms cache in Cateel, Davao Oriental consisting of five M16 rifles, two AK47 rifles, M4 rifle, M203 Grenade Launcher, M14 rifle, and M653 rifle.
The AFP said the operations were a result of intelligence information provided by former rebels or residents in communities.
https://www.pna.gov.ph/articles/1101757
A former communist rebel led military forces to separate locations where the New People’s Army (NPA) buried firearms and explosives in two agricultural villages in Antipas, North Cotabato, the military here said Monday.
Lt. Nikko Tarayao, civil-military operations chief of the Army’s 72nd Infantry Battalion (72IB), said the former NPA member under Guerrilla Front 53 who earlier surrendered to the military pinpointed the location of the rebels’ war materiel in remote Barangays Camutan and Magsaysay of Antipas.
The firearms recovered on Sunday include two M-16 rifles, an M-79 grenade launcher, an anti-personnel mine, magazines of ammunition, all in Barangay Camutan; and two other M-16 rifles in Barangay Magsaysay.
All those weapons will all be destroyed eventually.

The NPA is not the only group attacking AFP soldiers on the frontline.

https://newsinfo.inquirer.net/1269540/2-soldiers-killed-another-injured-in-maguindanao-attack
Two soldiers manning a quarantine checkpoint in a remote village of Datu Hoffer town in Maguindanao were killed and another injured when Islamic State-linked gunmen attacked the sentry Sunday night, the Army said.
In a report to Major Gen. Diosdado Carreon, 6th Infantry Division commander, the Army’s 57th Infantry Battalion said two of its 10 infantrymen died of multiple gunshot wounds when attacked by members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) at about 9 p.m.
The slain soldiers were deployed in a checkpoint in Barangay Talibadok, an upland village where the BIFF operates.
Carreon said a 45-minute firefight ensued that also left another soldier slightly injured and now recuperating at an Army hospital here.
Attacked by the BIFF. The hunt is on for those BIFF terrorists who attacked the checkpoint but two have been arrested in connection with a recent bombing in Maguindanao.

https://www.pna.gov.ph/articles/1102169
Acting on a tip, joint police and military forces arrested early Wednesday two suspected members of the Daesh-inspired Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) tagged in a recent grenade attack near a police station in Datu Piang, Maguindanao.
Colonel Arnold Santiago, Maguindanao provincial police, identified the bombing suspects as Sultan Baguinda Guialil and Mohammad Baguinda Candado, both of Datu Piang town and are alleged new members of the BIFF out on a test mission.
“The bombing was an apparent ‘test mission’ for BIFF recruits as ordered by Kagui Bayan, a BIFF sub-commander,” Santiago said.

Following the incident, Santiago has directed the Datu Piang police office and all other police stations nearby to heighten their alert status since the threat of the BIFF attack remains amid the 2019 coronavirus disease pandemic.
New members out on a test mission. That means recruitment continues for the BIFF. What about Abu Sayyaf and the NPA? How are their numbers? Abu Sayyaf remains active and just like against the NPA the AFP continues their war of attrition. Here a little, there a little.

https://www.pna.gov.ph/articles/1102300
Government troops recovered an arms cache and a piece of communication equipment belonging to a suspected supporter of the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) in the province of Tawi-Tawi, the military reported Friday.
Col. Arturo Rojas, Joint Task Force Tawi-Tawi commander, said the arms cache was recovered Thursday at the residence of Johan Sapanta in Sitio Saluag, Barangay Datu Baguinda Puti, Sitangkai, Tawi-Tawi.
Rojas, who is also the commander of the 2nd Marine Brigade, said Sapanta managed to elude arrest upon noticing the arriving troops.
Government forces recovered from Sapanta's house several firearms, ammunition, a hand-held radio transceiver, and other pieces of evidence.
Rojas said Sapanta is involved in illegal activities such as illegal drug trade, smuggling, and gambling.
Sounds like the AFP had a bead on Sapanta. They must have been watching him for a long time. How was he able to get away? Do they not know how to sneak up on a target unseen?

Remember last week the AFP called the MNLF "peace inclined?" Well both the peace inclined MNLF and the peaceful MILF who has stopped their war against the government in exchange for the BARMM are at it again fighting each other.  This time it's a rido or clan war.

https://www.gmanetwork.com/news/news/regions/736726/400-families-flee-homes-in-cotabato-due-to-milf-mnlf-clash/story/
Over 400 families fled their homes in Matalam, Cotabato after members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) clashed with fighters from the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF), a 24 Oras News Alert report said Monday.
Authorities said the firefight began on Friday night after a member of the MILF attacked the vehicle of a barangay captain who was also the leader of the MNLF.
A barangay councilor was killed in the clash, while six individuals, including the barangay captain, were injured.
Authorities see rido or clan war as cause of the skirmish.
The local government already deployed soldiers to the area to contain the firefight.
But the firefight was not contained as it spread to other areas of Cotobato a few days later.

https://www.pna.gov.ph/articles/1102438
A blood feud or "rido" involving members of two clans erupted anew Sunday in the North Cotabato town of Pikit, sending some 1,500 families to safer grounds while they observe fasting for the Ramadan period.
Fueled by a land dispute, the armed conflict between the warring families have resulted in sporadic encounters that have escalated further as both sides used mortars and machine guns.
Worse, the protagonists raided and burned homes left by fleeing civilians and carted away valuables, food supplies, and work animals, including chickens, goats, carabaos, and cows, according to local and military officials.
Pikit Mayor Sumulong Sultan said skirmishes ignited again on Sunday in the villages of Takepan, Bulol, and Talitay between local factions of Moro National Liberation Front sub-commanders Jainudion Butuan and Kuwat, and the group of Moro Islamic Liberation Front base command sub-commanders Abdul Hamid Sansawi, Sambutuan, and Ekot.
Sultan had earlier gathered both sides to settle the dispute peacefully.
“The fighting slowed down but on Sunday, both sides exchanged bullets again,” Sultan said in a radio interview Monday.
“We pity these people, they avoid bullets but they could hardly move to safer places due to community quarantine,” the mayor added.
Sultan said emissaries of the MILF and MNLF have been sent to put an end to the "rido".
Likewise, the mayor said he has also sought the help of the Army’s 602nd Infantry Brigade and North Cotabato police provincial office to send in peacekeepers to separate the warring families. Soldiers have been sent and fighting has ceased as of Monday morning.
It seems that even with the BARMM in place the Moros cannot settle their own differences without resorting to violence.

The God Culture: Youtube Mix and Other Ignorance

The God Culture is incredibly stupid. Whoever is running that show is just plain dumb as a bag of rocks.  We know that from their false history about the Philippines and their fake deep research which amounts to quoting Wikipedia and various blogs. But their ignorance shines through in other places as well like in the comment section of their Youtube channel.

See over in the right hand column there is a section titled "Mix - The God Culture?"

The God Culture is so stupid that they think the mix is another channel that has stolen their videos! They have even put a notice in their comments to beware of it.

AND BEWARE... BEWARE... "MIX - THE GOD CULTURE " CHANNEL BEWARE.. BEWARE... THIS NOT OUR CHANNEL!!
Beware....BEWARE!!!  You have to laugh at that quadruple beware as if the mix is so scary you should avoid it like the plague.

So what is this mix? Is it another channel?  No! It's an auto-generated playlist of The God Culture's own videos created by Youtube based on the videos you have watched.

A YouTube Mix is a nonstop playlist tailored to you.

https://thenextweb.com/google/2013/04/22/youtube-experimenting-on-new-video-discovery-feature-called-youtube-mix/
YouTube is experimenting with a new feature designed to help users better discover videos and channels on its site. Called “YouTube Mix”, it’s an auto-generated playlist that will display suggested videos based on what you’re reading.
While the video service already has suggested videos displayed in the right-hand sidebar of each page, YouTube Mix offers users the ability to watch 50 videos continuously that it thinks they’ll be interested in. No additional work needed to click through each video one by one to watch it.
That article is from 2013 so the Youtube Mix is no longer an experiment. It is a part of the Youtube algorithm. Mix - The God Culture IS their channel! It's hilarious how oblivious The God Culture is to this feature so much so that they issue a quadruple warning to beware of their own channel.

It's just another reason to laugh at this ridiculous group. Listen to their videos and you will hear such paranoia thinking that Youtube is censoring them because some subscribers do not receive notifications about new uploads.
Let's remember the paradigm in which we live as this platform supports and props up agitation and it suppresses the truth. Don't believe me? Then why do our over 80,000 subscribers, when we release a video, many of them never receive a notification? We know this because we are subscribers in at least five email boxes and they're not being notified. Simple as that. Especially during this time of lockdown? Why? Because they have tightened the rules and they just plain stop it before it goes out. But no matter we're not going to stop and they will not stop us.
They are certainly not alone with this problem and it probably has more to do with The God Culture's settings than Google attempting to censor them. Frankly Tim is neither brave enough nor smart enough to produce videos that those in power would want to suppress. Timothy Jay Schwab is no Alex Linder, Kevin MacDonald, Andrew Anglinor Alex Jones and The God Culture is not 8chan. Each of those men, as well as 8chan, have been censored across the internet in some form or other. The God Culture literally teaches nothing but lies and this only furthers the agenda of the NWO who want to keep everyone dumbed down and in the dark. People who spout lies are fine with them. Nobody is out to get them because they don't pose a threat to those in power. It just goes to show how much of a martyr complex Timothy Jay Schwab and The God Culture have.

This martyr complex is fundamental to the nature of schismatic groups like The God Culture, the Mormons, JWs, the Protestant Reformed Church, and the like. These small groups always pit themselves against the world. In a time of ignorance their group has been given the light of revelation and now stands all alone on the side of truth while the rest of the world has been hoodwinked by Satan. They are the remnant. They are the true Church.
The world will hate you and I if you are serving Him. He said so. If the world does not hate you may want to do some soul searching. Are you really serving Him?
https://youtu.be/EscrM4o-h4M?t=1446
The martyr complex is important to The God Culture and explains why so many Filipinos eat up their fake history. Filipinos have been colonized by two nations. Their early history has practically vanished. Their resources have been exploited. A foreign culture has been imposed upon them. They have no identity except the one foisted upon them. Some of the more savvy types, like Pedro Paterno, have balked at this declaring that Filipinos were once a proud maritime nation which even provided gold for Solomon's temple. A false yet uplifting and intricate spiritual history is concocted. These martyrs just have to wait and bide their time because one day they will Rise Up as God vindicates them. That is literally the message Timothy Jay Schwab and The God Culture are bringing to the Philippines.

Meanwhile the Philippines remains one of the most corrupt nations on the entire planet and anyone with any sense wants to be an OFW and escape these islands.

Here's another thing that The God Culture is completely ignorant about: accessing information about who owns a website.
No Tim's personal email is not available publicly until you published it you libelous fraud but you have done far worse than that and you will pay for that soon.
http://philippinefails.blogspot.com/2020/05/the-god-culture-book-of-jubilees.html?showComment=1588850866236#c3760581697376837706
All information pertaining to who owns a website including name, phone number, email, and address, are very public.

Website information for thegodculture.com

It's not secret at all.  This information did not come from the deep web and it does not require payment to access. It is plain for all to see and it is all free. Here is info for another website.

Website information for godculture.com

That The God Culture does not know how to access this information goes to show how inept they really are at researching anything. Tim defends this ineptness in his videos.

https://youtu.be/EscrM4o-h4M
16:55 -  This has not changed friends.  We deal with it the same today. We locate the ancient land of gold for instance. Ophir, Sheba, Tarshish, The Garden of Eden for that matter, ancient Havilah where Adam and Eve lived and most react as the crowd reacted because they are authentic and  genuine. They recognize the meaning.
However a Pharisee looks at that and scoffs. "Heh! Well you could have used a better source. Why is your font so small on that screen? That one quote doesn't say that!" Though it always does say exactly what we represent by the way because it always vets, every single challenge has. "That map that shows those islands southeast of China's not really showing southeast of China. That's, well, India." Huh? No it's southeast of China. That's what the maps shows, duh. "And that map, and that map, and those directions, and those directions, and aww that font should be larger and yaw you should have quoted that differently, and..."
I mean that's the kind of stuff that you get for going out, stepping out on a limb, and doing the research and telling people what is truth. And we prove it.  Those same people don't even bother to actually review the whole case. No. No, no. They'll watch one brief video or a few brief videos and then go and just ramble on and on and on.  And they are absolutely ignorant.  They don't even know what we prove, what we don't prove but all along they'll say "Ah see you didn't prove that." Well how will you know what we prove? You didn't even review the case. But it doesn't matter because it's not their point. They throw it all out in ignorance, haven't even reviewed the case yet they know because they know what we're going to prove because they have what basis? Absolutely none.
"You used a font too small! Throw it out!"  Really? "You quoted a secondary source citing the original" oh which happens to be true and in representation actually match the original? Duh! I mean could you be more ridiculous? Yet we get all of this.
Bless Tim's heart.  He comes to my blog and leaves all kinds of nasty, ridiculous comments saying he is done with me and I don't deserve a response. Then he responds to me for three minutes in his video.

The gist of much of my criticism against the God Culture is that, contrary to what they claim, they have not done deep research. They literally quote from Wikipedia and other blogs using them as primary sources. The fact that they do this and don't bother to seek out primary sources proves that they are not researchers. They are quote miners. In some cases they have not even read the sources they cite such as the three they listed allegedly proving that Philippine gold jewelry was found in 1st century Egypt. If The God Culture was doing any real research they would have ordered those sources and quoted from them as I did.

They aren't doing any field work either. They are literally doing all their "research" on the internet.  They haven't gone exploring in Greece, Israel, or the Philippines to prove that the Greeks sailed here for gold. They claim that the Philippines is Ophir but offer no physical proof only circumstantial evidence based on their faulty reading of ancient maps. They claim The Garden of Eden is in the Philippines but no pictures of either it or its lone inhabitant Enoch have surfaced. They claim to have traced the journey of the lost tribes but they only do this virtually and not by actually trekking across Israel through Kurdistan and down to the Philippines showing us all the archeological proofs along the way. In short their claim to doing "deep research including history, geography, archeology, science, language, etc." is a total sham. They altered their website removing the word "deep" and replacing it with the word "discerning" but that doesn't change a thing. A discerning researcher would know that the Greeks never came to the Philippines and that the Aurea Chersonese is the Malay Peninsula and represents the limit of the Greek's geographical knowledge of the Far East.

"You quoted a secondary source citing the original." I am guessing Tim is mocking me in this instance for criticizing his use of a middle school teacher's class outline as his source for Dionysius Perigetes.

https://files.eric.ed.gov/fulltext/ED460920.pdf

He made an hour long video talking as if he were familiar with Dionysius when he had not read him at all. What a total fraud. If Tim was doing deep research as he claims he would have sought out the original source. I found an English translation of Dionysius with a few clicks of the mouse. Why couldn't he?  The fact that he did not belies any claim to doing deep research. A closer look at this source shows he most certainly took it from J.G. Cheock's research which again just shows Tim is copy/pasting from others and not engaging in anything original.

The issue about font size is very important. Tim tells his listeners to check and see if what he is saying is true. How is anyone supposed to do that when the sources are listed in an unreadable font? That is not nit picking. If he really wanted people to check up on him he would be more forthright about his sources. That he thinks the issue of font size is ridiculous shows his utter disdain for his audience. He does not really want people to check up on him. As far as I know I am the only person who has actually taken up his challenge to test him and when I find fraud after fraud and report this he has nothing to counter with except name calling and deception as he altered three videos and even his own website!

Now Tim has even sunk to issuing veiled threats of violence against me because he did not like when I, quoting the words of Jesus Christ, called his marriage to his second wife (Tim is her third husband) adultery. He makes the false claim that I suggested he divorce her and says:
How dare he. He better hope I am able to follow the commandments if I ever meet him, that's for sure.
https://youtu.be/giLKvIPU118?t=2197
I never made such a suggestion at all nor was it to be implied. I only pointed out the hypocrisy of an active adulterer going around telling people they need to keep the law to be engrafted into Christ. True, we are all sinners but we are not all currently in an active state of adultery. How he gets out of that situation is up to him. I offered no advice nor do I offer any now.

That Tim takes the time to mock and threaten me publicly in his videos is flattering. He feels the sting of my criticism which is why he altered his videos and website. He knows I am right. It's also troubling because it shows that Tim does not take what he is doing very seriously. A serious researcher would not make the choices he does. They would not use Wikipedia as a source and they would most certainly be doing field work and not just Googling all day. The book that Tim is writing, will it be based entirely on Googling or will actual field work be included?

Tim has said previously that his Youtube videos are not scientific journals so I ought not to expect the same standards.
For instance this video deals with tons of history asnd was one of our first in our publishing on YouTube of our journey of research. The sources are not cited like a scientific journal and at that point, we didn't even know many would even watch. We did so in representing history accurately. This fraud only misrepresents.
http://philippinefails.blogspot.com/2020/03/the-god-culture-review-of-solomons-gold.html?showComment=1585353928872#c2685914059189261084
Of course a YouTube channel is not a scientific journal but he applies such standard and yet, still fails.
http://philippinefails.blogspot.com/2020/03/god-culture-does-timothy-schwab-have.html?showComment=1584433157621#c7860336094334233399
Indeed the shoddy research in these videos would never be allowed in any reputable scientific journal. But I never once said anything about scientific journals. I only asked for clarity and honesty in using sources. Citing a source you have never read, like Farrisol or Dinoysius Perigetes, is dishonest.  It's amazing how Tim denigrates his own videos in order to excuse his sloppy, shallow, so-called "research."

I admit that he is right that I have not watched all of his videos. I did not do that at the first and I still have not done it though I have watched many of them at this point. But all? No. There really is no need. The older you get and the more steeped in scripture you are the quicker it becomes to sniff out heresy. From the beginning I knew Tim and The God Culture weren't right. Their motto, "Challenge Tradition," says it all! Their video titles scream heresy. Take the Name of God series which is obviously Sacred Namer nonsense.

The Name of God - Part 1: How To Pronounce YHWH May Surprise You

A little digging reveals that Tim was involved in the Sacred Name movement.
A perfect example is the Sacred Name Movement which we actually learned the accurate name of God but the movement just didn't stay the course as it really should lead to restoring the entire Bible and they did create a Bible but it's still based on Modern Translations just inserting names which is cool but doesn't really do much in restoring the translation which is so badly needed.
The Name of God Series 6: ORIGIN OF THE WORD JEW. NOT THE BIBLE
As I wrote before one need not scientifically investigate a turd to know it's a turd. Likewise one need not listen to all a group has to say to know whether or not they are heretics. Actually watching their videos and diving into their doctrine has confirmed my initial suspicions. At heart Tim is nothing more than an anti-trinitarian heretic. He finally belched out his blasphemy for all to smell in one of his new Sabbath Series videos.
Then espousing some doctrine of men like Trinity which is a word that never even appears in scripture once. That's why you don't see any videos from us on that. We could care less about the doctrines of men.
https://youtu.be/EscrM4o-h4M?t=3644
While Tim does teach that the Father and the Son are both God his teaching about their relationship and equity is not exactly clear. Sometimes he sounds like a modalist and sometimes he does not. His teaching about the Holy Spirit is also lacking. From all accounts it seems as if he denies the personality of the Spirit and considers Him to be an impersonal active force of the Father. Or perhaps a force shared by the Father and the Son.

Tim does not teach what the scriptures teach and he rejects the ekklesia, the visible Body of Christ, which Jesus said He would build and the gates of hell would never overcome. Tim actually says the opposite of Christ and teaches that Satan wiped out and took over the church.
The synagogue of satan was installed and their doctrines as what we call the early church today but the true early church was wiped out.
New Sabbath Series Trailer
He promulgates novel doctrines, such as Enoch living for the past 4000 years in the Philippines which he claims is the Garden of Eden, based on the apocryphal Book of Jubilees. His history of the Philippines and the ancient world is untruthful and ill-informed. But to hear him talk about Church history is a whole other level of ignorance.
So get this, the Pharisee church, the false church, replaced His church in the days of Constantine especially was the complete takeover. And this is what we are told is the early church and that is false. Church history does not start in 300 AD. That is stupid. No one can say such a thing yet they do. They certainly do.
https://youtu.be/zCwDTRzkYqo?t=1344
What is Tim talking about? Why does he hate the Nicene Council so much? Next thing you know he will tell his listeners that Arius was unjustly condemned for speaking the truth and that Athanasius was the real heretic.

Who says Church history starts at 300 AD?  Nobody says that, Tim! Here are 10 volumes of church doctrine and history from before the Nicene Council. That is from about 70 AD - 315 AD.

If Tim bothered to read actual church history and doctrine he would find that the church NEVER placed importance in celebrating the sabbath like Jews. They celebrated the Lord's Day.

That is from the letter of Ignatius to the Magnesians which is in volume 1 of the series above. Ignatius was a disciple of John the Apostle! A much earlier reference is from the Teaching of the Twelve Apostles also known as the Didache. This can be found in volume 7 of the same series.

In his new sabbath series videos Tim makes the outlandish claim again and again that the church has neglected the 4th commandment. That is a lie! True the church does not celebrate the sabbath like Jews. Instead they celebrate the Lord's day, the first day of the week, the same day Christ rose from the dead. But Tim does not know any of that because he has not read church history or any of the fathers. He can't even be bothered to look and see what the modern day Catholic Catechism has to say about the matter of the sabbath.

In Christ's Passover, Sunday fulfills the spiritual truth of the Jewish sabbath and announces man's eternal rest in God.
https://www.vatican.va/archive/ccc_css/archive/catechism/p3s2c1a3.htm
A complete misrepresentation by Tim. Not only does he not know what the church teaches but he also does not know who are the church's teachers.
Take someone like Origen whom they call an early church father. But look into what he writes, what he says. He was a gnostic in thinking if you look at over all what he espouses. And he is even pictured, in fact, with a demon at his feet which is really odd. Don't know what that is all about. But it sure does seem like he was not a disciple.
https://youtu.be/zCwDTRzkYqo?t=1395
Nobody calls Origen an early church father except for ignorant people like Timothy Jay Schwab. If Tim knew what the church councils teach he would know that the fifth ecumenical council condemned Origen and anathematized his teachings.  Here is the condemnation in the 11th canon:

Note that canon ten anathematizes Timothy because he denies that Jesus Christ is one of the Holy Trinity

And here are the 15 anathemas against Origen's teachings.

https://silouanthompson.net/2019/09/anathemas-against-origen/

One has to wonder, "Does God hate the Philippines?" The nation remains poor and backwards, powerful typhoons strike the nation every year killing many, crime is rampant, the government is corrupt, there has been a 50 year war against the communists, and now Timothy Jay Schwab has been sent to deceive the people with a strong delusion that the Philippines is the Garden of Eden, Ophir, Sheba, Seba, Tarshish, and Filipinos are members of the lost tribes of Israel. Not only that but Tim teaches that law is grace, the new covenant is the law and not the blood of Christ, and that to be grafted into Christ one must keep the law. He rejects the Godhead and the Gospel entirely and now spends his time in the Philippines spreading his anti-christian lies and nonsense deceiving and poisoning thousands of unsuspecting souls with videos and conferences.

What have Filipinos done to deserve a man like Timothy Jay Schwab and The God Culture?
